About
Dimwood is a roguelike deck builder with unique modal cards, every battle is a puzzle where every card can affect the next.

Cards are written with strings of 'pips' that can deal damage, reinforce your block, or even change the mode of every other card in the battle. Pips can be moved, shuffled, inverted, or transformed into other pips, making cards into something new entirely!
Venture into the Dimwood, an odd colorless forest that's hidden from the sky, and defeat the Beast at its heart. Learn to combine pips, cards, and artifacts to overcome fearsome enemies in tactical turn-based combat.
Play as three unique archetypes with different styles of deckbuilding, the Ranger, the Tactician, and the Druid!
Discover and unlock over 400 different cards!
Battle over 30 different enemies and fill your Bestiary!
Defeat the Beast at the heart of the Dimwood and unlock 20 difficulty modifying descensions!

The aura from this game is crazy. Really cool and complex.
My vegetable started rotting and two twins name Jennifer and Jen jumped me. 10/10 game, support your local indie dev's *needs more bunnies*
Sooo confusing at the start when trying to figure everything out, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ was so satisfying later on!! Love the art style, it's so neat; i really like the diff filter thingys we unlock as we go along, it makes it so fun! Also love that the card itself has the artist's name :> the endless combos you can come up w is amazers, rlly feels like it's a deck by me!! the one thing i still don't get is what inverted does T_T
The main gimmick of the game is building your cards as you progress. As a result, though the individual effects of cards are relatively simple, there is a lot of complexity in deckbuilding. The difficulty curve over the course of a run feels adequate, and the increased levels of difficulty between runs add significant challenges over time. The art style is quite charming, and while the soundtrack isn't anything to write home about it doesn't detract from the game.
hell yeah!
I went in with no real expectations. After all, how interesting could 'just a few action types' be? I was wrong. Dimwood didn't just exceed my expectations, it threw them out the window. Not only do the individual classes feel unique, but even different runs on the same class can vary. Relics, artifacts, and other doodads can drastically change what a "good card" looks like in your deck. Between this and the imperfect pip manipulation, getting a consistent and useful deck to defeat your opponents may be more difficult than you might think. To top it off, the music and art truly make this gem shine. What a wonderful game.
One of the most unique deckbuilders I've played. Gameplay is fascinating and the aesthetics are great.
tragically this seems like the sort of game that hasn't really taken off, which is a shame for how much fun I've had playing it. structurally, I would describe the game as "unsubtly inspired by slay the spire", but it at least has a unique twist going for it. instead of text that rigidly defines what a card does, each card is broken into 4 "phrases" made up of 0-5 "pips", little icons that do extremely elementary actions like "deal 1 damage", "gain 1 block", "draw 1 card", etc. when you play a card, it plays all the pips in its default phrase, along with all the pips in the phrase matching the current light level, which can be bright, dim, or dark. enemies have their own deck of cards as well, so adjusting the light level alters the behavior of both your cards and your opponent's cards, which adds an extra dimension to battles. the primary purpose of this system, however, is that it modularizes EVERYTHING about your cards. it might be better to describe this game as a cardbuilder rather than a deckbuilder. very few cards are useful enough as-is to defeat the final boss (and then the second final boss (and then the secret final boss))). instead, you are responsible for creating the cards of your dreams and mowing through the opposition. each character has a different ability for rearranging pips on their cards, and various events can add, move, and remove pips as well. you don't usually decide to pick up a card because it has a good effect as-is, but rather what kinds of effects it could have when you finish messing with it. it's very common to pick up cards that aren't useful in the immediate term, but are fodder for upgrades and grafting later on. if all that sounds interesting to you, please give the game a chance! I would love to see this game find its success some day, these devs are worthy of your money :3
Great game made by great artists, i love the detail that the cards show who drew them ^^
