Digital Diamond Baseball V12

Without hesitation I would recommend this product. I only use it for the Board Game Companion and it is well worth the price. It keeps all my various card and dice projects organized in one place and the flexibility of the system is great. In a couple of my Strat-o-matic projects I have tie games, and V12 has support for tie games after it was requested by several gamers. That's tremendous customer service.

It's good for what it is. Seems to excel at playing with the historical lineups which is not really my thing. Changing the lineups to your liking is possible but clunky. Could use some more options for in game strategy as well. But for the price being able to play virtually any MLB game in modern history with correct lineups is pretty nice. although I feel like I am more watching than managing it.

A must have for those of us that need to mix the pros of a baseball computer game (stats recording) and those of the classic board games (think Statis Pro, etc.). There are other games that are shinier, but this one fits the middle ground for middle money.

If you have any previous versions of DDBB, this is a definite PASS. Sadly, the only "improvements" are the result of even more pandering to the horse-and-buggy "get-off-my-lawn" crowd. Meaning, the completely irrelevant aspect of DDBB (this is a PC sim, ain't it?) wherein board games from the Eisenhower Adminstration can be "ported" into DDBB usage -- basically throwing away everything which makes PC sport sims superior (in every way, imho) to dice-chucking. While these "improvements" have been going on, what has not been going on is any re-thinking or deepening of the actual (actually, not so actual) seasons built into DDBB: the ratings for almost every built-in season (and there are plenty) are overwhelmingly "default." Yes, you get the player and team stats (easy enough these days). What you do not get is what separates the good from the bad in any historical sports sim: complex ratings. Speed, hold, arm, range, injury, clutch, wild pitch, passed ball etc (for baseball) -- all these are either non-existent or "average" for 90% of players. (Average in DDBB being a "3" on a very-limited range of 1 to 5. So in this game, Greg Luzinski has as good an arm as Roberto Clemente, and Cecil Fielder runs as fast as Rickey Henderson.) A handful of community-created seasons are more ratings-sensitive. Only a handful. What has also not been addressed is the wonkiness of the team logos/player pictures/ballparks once installed in the game. (Eye-candy thanks to the marvelous SlyBelle which does not come with DDBB. Their failure to reliably appear is the game's fault.) And regarding ballparks, the game recommends NOT to use ballpark factors! (WTF??) Plus there's no weather. Come to think of it, Statis Pro fits in right well here. . . Here's hoping the developer will spend more time expanding the ratings across all built-in seasons for Version 13, and less time trying to fit in grossly-inaccurate board games created during episodes of Ozzie and Harriet. (A great show, btw. At least until the boys get married. Rick Nelson rules!) (BTW, Out of the Park Baseball -- light years beyond this game as an historical simulator -- can be grabbed here for less $$$ than DDBB if one watches the sales. Please do so.)

Great game! For the money you can't beat it. Your only limited by your imagination. The Board Game Companion and the Statis Pro Baseball Game options alone are worth their weight in gold. If your a baseball fan , into statistics and enjoy in game strategy buy it! You won't regret it.
