Have you ever tried playing Yahtzee in a bath alongside the beach? Cold whisky and a couple of rounds of Yahtzee are always a good choice for relaxation with your friends. The sound of dice flowing in the hot air and the laughter of friends will make you forget any worries in life.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/vcRum2QHLHo If you enjoy playing Yahtzee and you wanted a VR version, then I do recommend this game. Keep in mind, currently there is only solo play. Supposedly there are two maps, but I only played in the beach map despite playing for over 2 hours and getting past level 30. Basically, the score you need to achieve keeps getting higher and higher with each level. This follows the normal rules of Yahtzee. I did not notice any issues or bugs. Game ran smoothly. You press grab to move yourself within the seated position to get the best view. Interactions are basically highlight & hold or point & click. I thought the beach map looked good and the sounds were good as well. I had fun. The game throws little curveballs at you as certain scoring sets give you higher scores so you have to aim for them or certain sets change. It's a nice little iteration that adds fun to the gameplay & keeps the game interesting. I think I already got my money's worth since I paid a little over $5 USD and got over 3 hours of entertainment out of it. I just wish It had online multiplayer (who knows when the casino map unlocks as well). Rate 7/10.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. I found this VR game to be virtually unplayable and requested a refund.
I've always been a fan of this type of game. It seems to work well and the environment is nice, but...I expected there'd at least be an A.I. to play against, but there is not. You play to beat an ever increasing score goal. It needs A.I. players and on-line multi-player. Maybe these are forthcoming. But as a purist, one thing stands out. In the true version of this game, you have to achieve a certain score for the upper half (left half here), to earn a bonus. That rule seems to have been omitted. The one mode to play is called "Score Rush". Maybe other modes are planned, that have the full rules. I like it, but I want to be able to play different difficulty levels of bots off-line, multi-player online, the full true rule set, and other in environments, with evening and night areas. I still like it though. Rock On!
Yahtzee in VR... Almost everything about this game feels really polished, from the graphics to the gameplay. Performance was perfect but that was expected, graphics are nice and the environment is pretty good looking. I only could play on the Beach level even if the trailer shows a "Casino" level, im guessing they are adding it at a later date, also currently there is only Solo play. The way it works is you need to achieve XX score, and each time you get it, the next level increases the points required to beat it. I made the mistake of playing standing up, and when i noticed i already played +1hrs, so yeah. Grab a chair and play this seating down, as its a bit addicting. I hope they add some sort of "campaign" like playing vs AI players and winning a championship, and of course Multiplayer. All in all, this is a pleasant and nice experience all around. Recommended for anyone looking to play Yahtzee in a nice looking environment with polished gameplay.
