An adequate HD collection and port of the first three Devil May Cry games. Story wise, these games are bonkers, campy, and dialed up to 11 in every way possible. If you take them seriously except for the points of melodrama that they slide out then you are a fool. Now, technically? Great ports! They all work, they don't stomp on the style they originally had nor do they take away from the original games by adding unnecessary remake ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. For the price that this goes on sale for, $10 is worth it for DMC3 alone, and if you're a hack and slash fan and partial to gothic aesthetics and style over substance, you'll probably have a good time. The first game is great, and the third game defined the hack 'n slash genre for years to come. Without Devil May Cry the American copycats like God of War wouldn't have gotten half the ideas they had. It's only fitting that DMC3 is flat-out amazing and DMC1 is great for what it is - a little limited in scope but still fun. There are people out there - deeply unserious people - who have a fondness for Devil May Cry 2 and instead of realizing they like it, they adamantly say it isn't that bad, or that it's a decent game and just a bad Devil May cry game. This is not true. Devil May cry 2 is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ slog to get through. It's poorly paced, mechanically broken, dreadfully boring, and its entire back half is just reusing assets from the first half. The story is also genuinely terrible and it has some of the worst, most uninspired boss encounters in any video game ever. If you somehow manage to not see how awful it is past the Infested Chopper, then you have a unique sort of mental illness that has left you well-suited for menial labor for 80 years straight. You are not a serious person and we are not richer for you trying to claim that DMC2 is anything but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Do not be contrarian, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Go back to picking your nose.
