A rare example of a series reboot done right by a different studio. The game design is stellar: each level can be tackled in a wide variety of ways depending on your playstyle, augmentation build, and supplies. The story captivates you from the prologue and holds your attention until the very end; the secondary missions are also quite enjoyable. I love the art style and cyberpunk depiction: the weapons, augs, architecture, etc., look fantastic. The balance is maintained between futurism and grounded realism. The visuals hold up remarkably well, even 15 years later. That said, the game has a glaring, abominable stain, namely the Missing Link DLC. Despite beating the game 3 times, sometimes I think about starting a new run, but then I recall that I have to get through this tedious filler, and suddenly, all the desire fades away. Not making it optional in the Director’s Cut was an extremely negligent decision. Anyhow, the core game is amazing. While different in some respects, Human Revolution preserves the spirit of the original Deus Ex and serves as a worthy successor.
cyberpunk 2077 of the 2010s peak
