I want to like this game but like @Garbranth I'm not enjoying being repeatedly killed by monsters in early game. They were recommended to change to low power mode but there's no instruction on how to do that. Also, what do the resource icons relate to. Tiny little non-descript pictures mean nothing to me. I found nothing to help me with this in the Journal. I think I'm supposed to collect scrap but haven't found any on exploring away from my base. All I find is monsters that kill me and I'm back to base. I'm trying to be positive and hope it gets better.
performance issues, read other reviews
Kind of amazed at how highly rated this game is... As others have pointed out, the concept is really cool. The problem is in the implementation. For a game that should be fairly simple, it has staggeringly bad performance issues. In trying to find any sort of debug log to try and see if my performance problems were due to some sort of cascading error, the only thing I could find was a debug.log with a grand total of 3 lines after having been playing for several hours. From what I could tell, the performance problem (at least for me) is that a) this game does not appear to be multi-threaded and b) it is persistently maxing out the core it does run on. No, this is not an issue with a weak machine- it can handle Starfield (with extra stuff going on on both my other monitors, yes I'm a multitasker) better than it can handle this game with nothing else open. Long story short, fun concept, decently implemented, but with ZERO optimization.
Horrible performance. Single digit FPS on a decent gaming PC.
I love how this is both an active and idle game at the same time. Makes it easier for me to do other work, change songs and stuff while playing. I found this pretty relaxing since its an idle game, and I could play it actively whenever I wanted to as well. Overall pretty fun to play. Will love more contents in the future
Enjoyable game for the first few hours, but as you progress, the 'stutter' gets longer and 9 hours in it freezes for a few seconds every minute, save function fails and starting to crash. Will revisit if it gets patched, but frustrating to put hours into the game only to have to put down due to the above :(
Game isn't ready to be released. Everything from the game crashing or giving errors to persistent memory issues that bring the game to a standstill have made this great game unplayable. I like the game, but you shouldn't buy this right now. There are far too many issues that make it flat out unplayable.
I would have loved to give this game a good review, but about halfway through the game it becomes a lag fest. I assume something isn't optimized correctly? My FPS is like 5, and it's essentially unplayable now, which is a shame because I really did like playing it. Hopefully the dev fixes the FPS problem, then I would happily recommend this game.
Listen, i want this game to succeed. The concept is great, the music is beautiful, the graphics are adorable. It should be a fantastic game. But it cannot perform. I have a threadripper 1950x and rtx 2080ti. I cannot fathom any reason why this game is hitching every 5-10 seconds, suffering severe pop-in issues, etc. Shots will miss enemy targets because the hitboxes spawn in late, controls wont be registered until several seconds later, clicking "confirm" on the lore textboxes fires your gun... Just a lot of bugs as of release. Check the discussions page; there's folks who are unable to run the game due to errors being thrown at this point. I have thousands upon thousands of hours in idle games, from well-polished games like Antimatter Dimensions to clunky messes like Pickle Clicker. I recognize when a developer has put in work, and when they've checked out-- and i cannot be more clear about this, the art, music, and general design decisions show TREMENDOUS efforts, so much so that i'll be coming back to check on this in a year to see if things have improved. But as of right now, this game is not ready for release, and i'd highly recommend against buying it in its current state. If things change, i'll update my review, but for now, i'm just disappointed and sad.
The game is OK at the start but overall becomes progressively worse as time goes on. It gets to a point where the frame rate gets to less than 5 and you're locked out of getting more resources to even beat the game.
