Rolling a dice that could cost you your life.
Wielding a unique healing sword that’s not just for show—it’s actually useful.
Risking your hard-earned items or coins being stolen by a sneaky enemy.

…and so much more.

Maybe the free prologue: Descent from Arkovs Tower Prologue can convince you otherwise, please give it a try.

I'm calling shenanigans on the positive reviews. They are all the same... mods, cute, blah. This game is barebones. You walk around, bump into monsters. That's it. Every few floors you get to choose a minor upgrade. The game basically has no actual mechanics. No risk/reward. Nothing, just walk, throw, bump, endlessly. Zero thinking or skill of any kind required outside of waiting 1 turn to bait foes to moving adjacent to you so you get attack initiative. A lazy, lazy game
Nice light roguelike with cute pixel art. Initial impression was that it's a bit simple and lacking the kind of depth I usually look for in roguelikes, but I think where this differentiates itself is in the moddability, and that seems to have a lot of potential. There definitely aren't many easily moddable RL games out there so in that sense this price is fair.
Lovely game by a clearly passionate developer. I also appreciate the mod support :)
I really enjoyed the game. You have to find the best strategy to fight your way through unique enemies (and some of them are kind of cute) while using your items well. A bit of thinking, a bit of slaying, just entertaining. I also enjoyed the conversations with the NPCs (I highly recommend listening to them) and the music in the background is just super comfortable. But in the end, I used to be an adventurer like you. Then I took an arrow in the knee...
Great game with a very nice looking pixelart! It is highly moddable and you can even have a look at all the game files provided by the developer, which makes it quite unique.
A lovely pixel art roguelike game with lots of replay value. Thanks to the modding support, the game can be completely customized quite easily.
So I played the Prologue for Descent from Arkov's Tower and I very much liked the concept of this specific roguelike. Now in the full version I was quite surprised by the amount of added content and could really start to try different builds for the classes and explore all levels and rooms that are now available. There is a lot to explore and some very ingenious mechanics and details. If you're looking for a charming, simple yet challenging rogue like GIVE THIS A TRY. Now if you're into pixel art and maybe even talented at creating such, the the modding capability of this game is quite the opportunity. The dev even provides a handy mod template in the workshop - a low-threshold to begin right away. Since programming isn't my strong suite I can not tell you exactly how the modding of game actions might be to your liking but the overview of modding possibilities looks very fun! This review is not final yet! I'll update it after further play time.
First off, the old-skool charm is throughout. The graphics are 8-bit-ish but more: the wall adornments move to look at you, and the mob corpses are pretty cool. Bodies stay FTW. Call the graphics 12-bit because it's not quite Amiga/ST-ish but looks great nevertheless. Next, the NPCs have short missions for you that are a fun addition. The player character types are unlocked by buying them with gold from your previously- finished game- so finish with a heap of money. The developer went to great ends to make the game mod-able. The mod system really works! I made the demo mod of "rats with sunglasses" quickly (okay that's inventive too!). I'll work on others. The demo reel shows a space version of the game so I know I can have the game I want. PS I play on a Mac. FR the achievements and steam workshop do not work on the Mac.
Fun and original roguelike. Fans of the genre should definitely check this out.
