this game is a complete space sim its incredible for its age. very immersive for the time period i highly recommend this game to all people who are fans of space and space conflicts.
There are some major glitches on several missions. After days of searching, uninstalling and reinstalling, even restarting the campaign entirely from scratch...Here is the fix I found (in a GOG forum, of all places): *Mission 6 (Paving the Way)*: •Objective: escort the Galatea through an asteroid field to a jump node. •Bug: Galatea gets to the node, then stops, turns, and gets "stuck" (won't enter the node) until it is obliterated by asteroids/Shivan fighters. •Fix: Posted October 03, 2021 by user Why485 "In my experimentation with this bug, I've also found another workaround, albeit an ugly one that requires you to be a bit conscious of the mission's scripting. If you enable time compression (Shift+Comma, Shift+Period by default) just before the ship hits the waypoints, it'll usually work. This works too when the ship gets stuck on a waypoint to get them unstuck, but it can still take them a few (real-time) seconds to align and then complete the waypoint. You can check how close the ship is to their waypoints by targeting them. Usually it's a friendly ship on your escort list, so you can target them quickly with E. When a friendly is targeted, it'll show a waypoint ETA on the HUD. Ideally you should enable time compression just before they hit the waypoint, e.g. 30 seconds before. You can tell a ship is stuck if their waypoint ETA is hovering around 0-1 seconds and never clears." (Source: https://www.gog.com/forum/freespace_series/freespace_1_mission_bug_in_paving_the_way) *Mission 23 (A Failure to Communicate)*: •Objective: Defend Communications Station (until the PVD Hope [Vasudan Typhon-class destroyer] reaches the Aquilae Communications [GTSC Faustus] and takes over its defense) •Bug: The Vasudan Destroyer arrives to protect Aquilae Communications ship, only for the mission to continue on interminably. •Fix: Same as above, but took me multiple attempts with the time compression trick (Shift-period) before it finally worked.

No he podido hechar a andar el juego…solo reproduce el video de intro y hasta ahi llega. Muy mal, porque el juego es mega genial. Hace varios años lo jugué.
Descent: Freespace – The Great War (including Silent Threat) For me, Descent: Freespace – The Great War was the second space flight sim I ever played—Wing Commander being the first, and still my all-time favorite. That said, Freespace came very close. I spent a lot of time completing its missions and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I originally owned the game on DVD along with its expansion, Silent Threat. Unfortunately, the disc eventually stopped working. So when I saw it available on Steam, I had to get it again. Even today, the game holds up surprisingly well. The graphics and gameplay still offer a solid experience. Sure, there are mods available to upgrade the visuals, but there's something special about playing the original version. It brings back great memories of hours spent in epic space battles. It’s definitely a game worth playing. It’s a shame that after Freespace 2, we never got a Freespace 3.
apparently the off-site version is better than this one that they're selling with DRM for 11 dollars I guess I got ripped off. What a shame. it was a good game -- what a rotten way to die.
Doesn't work. The screen zooms in and then never loads.
I LOVE this game. It has ruined space fighting and aerial combat games for me because it just raised the bar so high, also has a good story. I used to play it all the time way back in the day, I had very few computer games and this was my most played game. I'm gonna try to get it to work with my PC when I get stuff up and running again. This game is an absolute gem. Highly recommend.
y'a des gens qui regardent les com de ce genre de jeu qui ont 75ans? Jeu de mon enfance, l'histoire était vraiment cool pour le jeune que j'étais et subjectivement parlant, elle me transporte toujours aujourd'hui. Bien déçu que la licence ai flop mais bon... life is life.
