Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Drive massive trains across beautiful, challenging landscapes. Deliver cargo between industries, spread over an open world. Earn money, buy new licenses and advance your career as a train engineer, all in seamless, emergent experience. For PC and VR.

256 km² of unrestricted open world, where you can walk or drive trains uninterrupted. Covered in rich vegetation, landscape, water bodies, and an extensive railroad network, the world spans numerous diverse industries and towns. Experience seamless day and night cycles, with dynamic clouds, fog, rain and sounds spicing it all up. Change switches, drive, haul and leave trains at desired locations - the choice is yours.

Advance your career by taking deliveries and earning money. Master efficient driving and look after vehicles to minimize fuel and repair costs. Buy new items and licenses that grant you access to more vehicles and orders. Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

This game, is just beautiful. I really can't describe the feelings I get from living the dream I had so long ago. Driving a train has been (and still is) one of my major life goals. If that never happens, this is the next best thing. Nothing compares to the feeling of realizing that your train brake wasn't enabled, running back to where is is on the map, just to see it submerged in a lake just down the hill. All that to say, It's great. I cannot recommend it enough to a train-lover. If you even remotely like trains, this is the closest most can get, made even better with VR support. In all: Audio: 8/10 My only gripe with the audio is that you cannot turn down just the train sounds, as I like to use the jukebox in the game. Performance: 7/10 It might just be that my GPU is just old, but i can be a little laggy at times, though i do have everything at medium. Gameplay: 10/10 I don't know what they could change to make the campaign any better than it is. the sandbox system is pretty smart too, though maybe not for those casual train drivers. Freedom: 10/10 Again, the campaign is pretty much perfect, and the sandbox is great for learning and general shenanigans. Overall: 9/10 Not much in the game could be improved, except for variety, maybe a little more variation in the world could help, though the game has a MASSIVE overhaul planned in B100.

This game has an excellent feel to it. It's full of diegetic gameplay elements and a world that makes you feel like you're truly influencing it. When you bring a freight haul to a station, that freight then has to be unpacked and the cars arranged in a designated storage area. Whether you do all these parts of the job or just handle the freight hauls, shunting, etc. is up to you, but the continuity helps provide a sense of consequence in the game's world. I play on casual, so while I can't fully attest to the game's realism, it definitely provides a sense of reality, especially when controlling the steam locomotives available. Let's just say I learned my lesson the hard way when I caused a boiler explosion. As for the gameplay elements, they're deliciously tangible. The game only has menus for things like loading saves and setting graphics. Everything else, like accepting jobs, reading manuals and maps, etc. is all done through actual systems in the game's world. You carry a physical map around with you and flip through its pages to check different stations' layouts, you pick up job papers off a table in each station's office and insert them into an order validator to accept offers, then the job's instructions are printed out in a packet that you flip through as you complete each step. However, most enjoyable about this game is it's scenery and atmosphere. When you are out on the railroad, you hear almost no noise aside from your train's roars, hisses, and clacks. You can take in the peaceful environment around you and relax while you operate one of humanity's greatest technological marvels. Just be careful that you don't end up in a pile of rubble off the side of a cliff. Lastly, Derail Valley is a good way to build navigational skills. Much of the core gameplay revolves around reading maps and setting track switches as well as interpreting road signs in a way that feels intuitive and easily understandable. React to inclines and speed curves on time by keeping an eye out for signs warning you before you reach them. Though it can certainly be challenging to do so late at night!
This helped rekindle my love for trains and made me realize just how much I could enjoy games like this. I bought this a long time ago for VR, but my headset broke shortly after, and I could not play it. After seeing a clip on YouTube I decided to try playing it anyway, and luckily the game is still wonderful in flat screen. The level of detail is something you would expect from a game that was made for VR. I'm actually shocked by how much is here and how immersed I get. The scenery and detail of the trains is something you would want from any game, and yet I don't see any train sims that look and run this good. Everything feels like it has weight, and doesn't feel video-gamey in that typical indie dev early access way. You don't really see the cracks and seams is what I mean. Even playing another particular well-known train sim recently where when you derail, you go spinning into the air like you're completely weightless, it's a night and day difference here. Derailments have weight and it feels like you're really grinding into the dirt, things tip over when they feel like they should. It absolutely earns its namesake. I'm also surprised by how much you can actually customize here to tailor your experience. Progression for unlocking new trains and jobs and equipment for your trains feels so satisfying. I may have missed many updates between when I bought it and now, but what's already here does not feel lacking, and what they have planned feels like it's just a great addition on top of what's already present.
