Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Drive massive trains across beautiful, challenging landscapes. Deliver cargo between industries, spread over an open world. Earn money, buy new licenses and advance your career as a train engineer, all in seamless, emergent experience. For PC and VR.

256 km² of unrestricted open world, where you can walk or drive trains uninterrupted. Covered in rich vegetation, landscape, water bodies, and an extensive railroad network, the world spans numerous diverse industries and towns. Experience seamless day and night cycles, with dynamic clouds, fog, rain and sounds spicing it all up. Change switches, drive, haul and leave trains at desired locations - the choice is yours.

Advance your career by taking deliveries and earning money. Master efficient driving and look after vehicles to minimize fuel and repair costs. Buy new items and licenses that grant you access to more vehicles and orders. Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

Developers says, that next update will be issued at the end of 2027. This means, that more then 2 years will be passed from last update. This delay are too long to early access, and looks like abandonware.
In all honesty, I gotta say this is my favorite train sim ever. It is the first that LETS me crash. It is a pretty addicting little sim and I do actually like it. It runs on the steam deck! I spend hours switching in my yard, and then when I am on break, my coworkers pick on me for switching on a video game lol What I find it is missing, co op! If this had a form of co-op, it would be the best! Imagine having a guy working the ground lining your switches and guiding you into a hook or taking a shove. It would be a blast! THE GOODS Environment looks great Weather effects are wonderful CRASH CRASH CRASH BANG BANG BOOM BOOM EXPLOSION EXPLOSION! Physics are actually darn decent Good maps to guide you for your landing instructions when you enter yards for pickup/drop off THE BADS Things I am not a fan of but just being nitpicky; If you run a switch they automatically line for you when you hit them...bummer! The starter locomotive is pretty terrible and you have to go through A LOT to unlock MU Air brakes are always cut out on single locomotives...why? Angle ♥♥♥♥♥ are closed on both sides of the railcars... that's a big no no Automatic brake doesn't actuate the independent brake...if it does, I haven't found the keystroke realistic difficulty should have free look option so you can see when your train clears a switch All in all, this one is worth getting and if you like train sims, you'll probably love it.

This game simulates what it's like to die in a horrific train crash due to operator neglect but return with your newfound knowledge and safety rules written in blood. There are like 15 things I quadruple check before pulling away from a station now and the list just keeps getting longer. My latest addition is ensuring I didn't accidentally close an air pressure valve while coupling cars. You never truly respect the need for air pressure until you're trying to Indiana Jones off the side of a train speeding beyond all hope of survival trying to find why your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ brakes aren't doing anything
Last update was August 2025 outside of a small Unity update that literally every other Unity game made (even ones that were released on the other side of 2020) because of security issues. That's almost a year now without ZERO communication. Devs want us to wait until *the end* of 2027 for another update, and 2028 for the one after that. This is absurd. We're supposed to just trust that a team living off of sales (of a game that's now gone almost 1 year without updates and with an anemic player count according to steam charts) will last long enough to complete it. Been in EA for 7 years, and somehow think that saying "We're going to go silent and not say anything for 2 years, just trust us" is reasonable. It's absurd. Utterly, utterly absurd. If only the other train simulators on Steam, that are actually updated and maintained by their teams, weren't $1,000,000 for the game + DLCs. If the game were in a better state bug and performance wise, taking 1 year for a new update with regular monthly/bi-monthly updates would be reasonable. Leaving the game as it is now for 2 years with little more than "Trust me, bro" is nonsensical.
I am a huge train enthusiast. ever since I was kid I dreamt of a game like this. it is perfect. Much appreciation to the creators of this masterpiece of train sims. Please don't change anything about this game at all, its too good as is.

Game plays great, looks great and I'd love to play more but the speed sign system is just plain bad. I understand the map isn't really big so the speeds need to change frequently. But speed limit's change abruptly and often without any space to break. Example from my experience. I was driving from SM to HB. I choose the way going through GF as it seemed the shortest. While driving I came across a part of the track that allowed me to go up to 120 km/h and suddenly there's drop to 30. I derailed. If this game had normal speed limits signs like real world has, it would be much better. Signs placed in advance, warning about speed limit changes and to what speeds are to be expected in the next section giving the player time and space to slow down. I know this game is called derail valley. But it also is supposed to be a freight train sim. Not a "drive 20km/h all the time to actually finish one job sim". I want to stay but I can't get around this awful gameplay choice made by the developers.
It took 27.9 hours of play time to complete 2 missions. Is it for everyone, probably not. The learning curve is harsh. Like learning algebra. But once you figure out how it works, becomes like any other puzzle. I tried and stuck with it. After doin two jobs, now I can kind of like it and feel ok toward continuing. I recommend it because it has some serious long play value and if you like trains, it has stunning sounds and visuals. Not the hardest game to learn by far. It just takes a bit of effort. I must also add the 27 hours of play time is not all trying. Probably 20 hours was goofing around. I like it. It is addicting. When you discover the car you need is in the back of the pack, and somehow you got to get it, and then move others out of the way, and then back up and all that jizz....you will either love or hate it.
best train sim ever, wish they had bigger maps, and american locos and rolling stock!
