I really wanted to enjoy this game, after seeing the trailer i thought it was finally my answer to a cooking mama style game on PC. However, i’m kinda disappointed, especially considering the hefty price tag for this style of game. It looks like a mobile game, and despite it being called “cooking” cafe, from what I played you dont really get to do much cooking at all. Instead the main focus seems to be on decorating and preparing food through very simple minigames that get boring quickly. For example, the pouring pancake batter minigame is basically identical to the bread cutting minigame. I wouldve loved to go through the process of baking the cakes, rather than the cake just already be made and all i’m able to do is ice it and add toppings the game chose for me. Also, despite the game saying it has 80 different menu items, many of these are just different variations of the same thing. So 10 different flavoured pancakes, or 10 different sandwich fillings. The minigame stays the same for each one and the only difference is toppings which means the game gets boring and repetitive after a while. I think this would be a great game for kids due to it’s simplicity and forgiving minigames, and i liked the inclusion of a character customisation section. If simple dessert and food decoration is your thing and you don’t mind repetitive games then you might enjoy this one, just dont make the same mistake i did and assume its a cooking mama clone cause you’ll be sadly disappointed.
Nostalgic DS Vibes & Cozy Cooking
Debut Project: Cooking Cafe feels incredibly nostalgic. It reminds me a lot of a cooking game I played on the DS when I was in pre-school. The atmosphere is overly simple and cozy, clearly designed with a younger audience in mind. While it might get repetitive and boring quickly for teens or older players, it is a perfect fit for children looking for a brightly colored and relaxing experience.
The Cafe Loop & Recipes
The core gameplay loop revolves around serving dishes, earning likes and followers on social media, and learning new recipes along the way. The baking mechanics are very straightforward. It is mostly point-and-click with a few quick-time events thrown in, leaving little room for creativity beyond adding some toppings. Progression unlocks quite a number of recipe items. I have seen negative reviews pointing out that the menu items are just different variations of the same treat, but I really do not see that as a bad thing for a kid. Being a dessert cafe, you unlock different ice creams or pancakes that all get completely new looks. I guess it's a similar excitement when your Pokemon learns a new move. Sure, Water Pulse is just a variation of Water Gun, but the visual upgrade is still fun to see.
The Verdict & Value
When looking at this game from an adult perspective, it is hard to recommend, especially considering the current price point. However, it is important to judge a game based on its target audience. I made a lot of fond memories playing games exactly like this with my younger sister back in the day, so it does not feel fair to leave a negative review. It is a solid title for kids. Just know exactly who you are buying this game for before making the purchase.
I write concise and in-depth reviews via the Steam Curator Program. I honestly agree with the other review on all points. I wanted to love this game, but it really just doesn't feel like a game. It's basically a point and click - except all you do is click where it tells you to. I tried to play a bit longer to see if maybe over time you would get more freedom in at least decorating the food and taking custom pictures, but neither. Another downside is that the days are so insanely short. From what I played, you only have enough time to serve two customers before the day is up, and if you ask for help to serve the others in between nothing happens. No points or anything. The only positive I can give to the 'game' is that it is really cute and I love the art style. If you are looking for a game that's mind numbing and takes no brain power to play, I recommend it. Otherwise I recommend you give this a hard pass for the time being. Perhaps things will change in the future, but for now it is not worth the 30$ and in my opinion, it's not even a 10$ game due to the lack of customization or game play. And for a game that advertises itself as a game where you can 'make' and 'decorate' so much foods, the lack of feels almost like a scam.

This is really more of a neutral review. I don't want to give a negative review because there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the game but I'm probably just not the target audience. Also, this game has full controller support and works flawlessly on Steam Deck. This game is very cute and cozy BUT very, very simple. DO NOT buy this if you are looking for a Cooking Mama experience. There are basically only 1-2 simple mini games for each type of food. There is a lot of decorating but you can only put decoration in fixed spots. You can't really do anything too wrong or loose in this game, just progress a little slower (but there is not much difference). That said this is probably aimed at a younger audience or people who enjoy simpler "mobile-style" games. Also, this game is quite pricey for what it has to offer. If you do want to get this anyway I'd recommend waiting for a sale.
Gamer girlies, RISE UP! (and gamer guys, but i dunno, you got baldurs gate or whatever...) I was really confused by the negative reviews, so going into this game I was nervous. I am even more confused now, because this game is so freaking cute and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Yes, its not as "difficult" as other cooking games *cough cough, the mother whom cooks cough cough*. Sometimes you don't want that? It doesn't make this a bad cooking game. First of all, yes, the way you make the foods is overall pretty simple. BESIDES MAKING SANDWICHES. WHY DO MY GRAPES ALWAYS ROLL OFF MY SANDWICH? IF IM MAKING ONE OF THOSE CREAM FRUIT SANDWICHES, MY GRAPE SHOULD STAY IN PLACE! WHY DOES IT ROLL OFF MY ORANGE?!?!?! anyways <3 I still REALLY enjoyed the foods I've created. You start off with (if i recall) 1-2 foods. You get to pick which food you'd like to learn first. After that, you slowly unlock new recipes by cooking more, getting good scores, and getting lots of likes. What are likes?? wow look at u, u must touch grass. Likes are just as they sound like, likes. This game has an in game unnamed social media. You, the chef they hired to cook (yet they have to teach u how to cook? yeah ok) decide to create a social media page for all the foods you make. Part of the game is to grow followers and get lots of likes. (followers give you building upgrades, likes give you new character titles and recipes) I weirdly like getting likes and followers. I'm someone who enjoys working towards a goal, and this goal is getting more and more followers. SPEAKING OF GOALS! you ALSO have literal goals. Each month you get 3 goals. My current ones are take X amount of orders (you naturally get this one), take 4 sandwich orders, and get 300 likes. It's another fun thing to work towards in an overall stressfree, fun game. So yeah, negative reviews, this game isn't super duper hard. but again, go play sumn else? for my girly gamers, my GGG gamers, MY GORLS, this game is saur cute. THE ART IS ADORABLE! you can change your look whenever you want. which i love. slay. yes fashion QUEEN ! KWUEEN! !!! The only gripe I have with the game is like.. when you finish making your food, you gotta decorate it and add toppings. but its not like... how do i word this. ill edit this later to sound better. but it has a glowy spot that you just drop the topping onto. you dont get to pick where it goes. its like a magnet almost. which, half the fun is picking where to decorate. but alas. its ight. You can also add extra toppings after you do what is needed, and that part is fun. I added an octopus sausage and all of the social media comments were like SAUSAGE WOWOWOW it was great 10/10 LET ME JUST SAY. THE WRITING IS WEIRDLY VERY FUNNY? i have a screenshot on my page of one thing, but there's so many funny moments. you technically have a stalker kinda in this game? LMAO you have a fan and hes obsessed with you and some of the options to respond to him or about him are rude its funny LOL. im too nice tho <3 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3375843081 Overall, I do think the price is kind of high. But, i dunno. I think it's worth it. I've barely played 2 hours and i'm really happy with it. I look forward to unlocking everything the game has to offer and seeing the foods i can make. Yes, it is sometimes repetitive but again, im not expecting a cooking mother game.
Welcome to the cafe! :D

Introduction
Debut Project: Cooking Café is a cozy, cute, family-friendly, cooking simulation game developed by GrooveBoxJapan and published by D3PUBLISHER. You take on the role of Emma (whose name and appearance can be customized), the newest employee of a stylish cafe. Basically, your job is to cook delicious meals or desserts for your customers and upload the pics to social media in order to get likes and followers. Bring fame to the cafe and become a success story along the way. ^^ For the gameplay, you go through the process of creating your character. Then you're given one meal to cook, which is the traditional pancake. Depending on whether you use your keyboard and mouse or controller, you follow the prompts for making the parts of the meal. Depending on how accurately you follow the instructions, you can earn up to 3 stars for that part of the cooking. In other words, 3 stars equals a perfect rating. After you finish the meal and upload the pic to social media, you'll get lots of likes and followers. The better you cook the meal, the more likes and followers you'll get. There is a flavor ranking system, and when you go up a rank, you'll be able to unlock a new meal, such as cakes, sandwiches, etc. Also, when you reach a certain number of followers, the cafe will either be redecorated or expanded to attract more customers. As for serving customers, you're only given 2 customers per day to serve. However, as you level up and such, that will increase to 3 customers. In addition to serving customers, there are plenty of other tasks, like trying to meet the monthly goals and completing the owner's challenges. At the time of this review, lots of Steam achievements are present, and they count towards a user's global total.
Review
In the past, I played a lot of cooking-type games although they've been more timed. Thus, it felt refreshing to play a more relaxed type of cooking game, and that's just what Debut Project: Cooking Café is. The story is on the barebones side although it serves its purpose. Even though Emma, the MC, doesn't have a personality (other than being cheerful and encouraging), the game has more of a light-hearted side, so I think it's fine. After all, it's really the gameplay that matters. With that said, I just want to say that first, I really like that there's character customization. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3381956204 You can choose from among different hair styles and colors, outfits, etc. The only negative is that you have to play as a female character. I have a feeling that this game is aimed more towards a female audience, but more gender options would have been great. Now, let's talk about the cooking. I like that there's quite a variety of dishes to cook and that you can unlock more dishes as you level up. There's a progression that you work towards. You can even create your own dishes, which I had lots of fun with experimenting. The controls were fine for the most part. I used my keyboard and mouse to follow the prompts, and I was able to cook most of the meals without any problems. The only dish that I struggled with was making crepes, specifically with spreading the crepe according to the customer's wishes. The keyboard controls felt awkward to the point that I had to switch to my XBox controller, and then I had no problems. Although the gameplay is on the simpler side and no timer is present, I think it's ok since it provides a more relaxing experience, which is typical for cozy games. All of the achievements unlocked for me without any issues, but it may take time to get them all. With the art, I like that it's in this cute anime style with very colorful art. The sprites and backgrounds are drawn well, and especially, the dishes look very delicious. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3381956793 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3381957290 In regards to the music, there are a few tracks present, and they all have this relaxing beat, a wonderful accompaniment as you're going about to prepare meals for all the customers. There's some voice acting as well although it's limited to reactions rather than actual voiced lines. However, even the customers are voiced and Katie, the owner, and Rina, the other employee, are voiced. It's only Emma who isn't voiced.
Conclusion
Overall, would I recommend Debut Project: Cooking Café? After fully completing the game, I feel like it's a very fun, relaxing game. I had lots of fun cooking meals and being creative with my own dishes. The gameplay controls can feel slightly awkward initially, but I was quickly able to adjust. With the asking price, it can feel a bit on the pricier side. In USD, it's around $30, and I'm guessing that regional pricing wasn't accurately applied since it's even more expensive here. However, it's worth taking a look on a sale, and if you, other family member, and/or friends plan on replaying it, then the price point is worth it. Finally, I want to give a major thank you to D3PUBLISHER for the review key. I had lots of fun playing this cozy cooking game, and I hope that others will get a chance to check it out. ^^
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
A Charming Game That Falls Short of Expectations This game is undeniably adorable and relaxing, with an absolutely delightful art style. However, it feels too simple for its price point. Based on the photos and trailer, I anticipated a gameplay experience similar to Cooking Mama, but the actual mechanics skip key cooking steps. For instance, you don’t even make the batter in the pancake recipe—it jumps straight to pouring it into the pan. While the game is fun and endearing, it lacks the depth I expected. I’ve decided to request a refund, as it doesn’t justify its current price. That said, I would gladly repurchase if future updates added more comprehensive cooking elements or if the price were adjusted to reflect its simplicity. Despite my critique, the charm and cuteness of the art style deserve recognition. It’s a pleasant experience, just not quite what I was looking for at this price point.
