About
You play as Faye, Ian and Briff, a 3-piece band of dysfunctional friends who unknowingly stumble into a cursed battle of the bands contest, where all entrants can attack with music and must fight to the death.
Kick down every single door you come across. If you're gonna rudely enter every RPG house despite lack of invite, might as well enter in style.

Customise the band with 9 musically-themed classes to choose from, each with their own attacks, perks and COOL OUTFIT. Inspire your bandmates as a BUSKER or recklessly deal huge damage at the cost of damaging yourself as a HEADBANGER.
Fancy combat system that focuses on MEASURE EFFECTS. What happens BETWEEN turns makes all the difference, combining real-time elements with turn-based combat in a way that we're ALMOST CERTAIN has never been done before. (It's been over a year since release and no one's said otherwise yet!)
Other features:
Roughly 15-20 hours of game time.
Late game dating segment.
Sew patches of band logos onto your BATTLE JACKET for extra perks in battle.
No Random Encounters! Monsters will be shown on the field for your avoiding leisure, and 3 different FIELD ABILITIES with which to avoid them.
Unique item system. Say good bye to individually stocking up on consumable items! Once you get a piece of MERCH, you keep it forever, and it simply costs STOCK to use, a refillable global resource for all your merch.
Original soundtrack that'll make you say things like SIIICK and OH RIGHT ON.
Incredibly rich world boasting a wide variety of colourful characters whose dialogue changes as you progress through the game. Every single NPC is unique, armed with their own dialogue portaits to express themselves TO THE MAX.
Even the ITEMS have personality. Say bye bye to the generic "health potion". Local NPC Barry Friendly is taking care of the soothing beverages around here. Sink into a warm cup of BARRY FRIENDLY'S TEA whenever your health is low. Maybe you'll even have the pleasure of meeting Barry at some point.

To put it simply, this is an amazing game and a true hidden gem. I would love to see this game get the attention it deserves. The humour is great and works perfectly wether you know the comic made by the artist or not. The combat mechanic is really interesting and kept me engaged throughout the whole game. I usually am not a fan of turn based combat, but this was really tight and had a huge amount of builds you can do for your characters and no grind whatsoever (You even have some moves in the exporation map to help you dodge entounters if you don't want to do them). The fact that these mad lads made custom sprite for all the animations to reflect your main MOD is insanity and I am here for it! The difficulty was a great balance as well. I know they recently added a Easy mode, and I do think it's good to give options, but for me, the game felt really balanced and offered a really high challenge only in the optionnal encounters. All and all, really loved my time with the game and will 100% be backing up their futur project if they go with a kickstarter or something like that. From a fellow game dev, congrats guys!!
Came for the door-kicking, stayed for the unique gameplay and the weird humor. 12/10 Edit: Not enought door-kicking. Need more.
I'm not even going to beat around the bush, Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands is probably one of the best real-time-RPGs on Steam, period. This game is extremely funny, challenging, charming and absolutely full of content. I picked it up because I liked the webcomic it was nominally based on and was expecting it to be heavily reliant on callbacks to the webcomic but frankly it stands completely alone and you will like it even if you've never read or seen the webcomic. The game contains a large varied soundtrack to go with it's strategic gameplay style and large amount of stuff to do. It's full of flavor text, incidental dialogue, jokes, gags. The combat is actually pretty deep and you have a large variety of tools at your disposal to help deal with the musical challenges ahead of you. Even if you don't like turn based combat I think it's worth picking this up because A.) It goes on sale for cheap very often and B.) Recently accessibility options have recently been added which make the game much more pleasant for people like me who dislike thinking and C.) It's just so funny and charming that even if you don't like the combat you'll may be able to completely look past it for the writing. Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands -appropriately enough- rocks and I think it's a real hidden gem.
Fun. Funny. A solid RPG. The mechanics are not the most complex or unique, but they all function smoothly and enjoyably together; combat's fun, and there's just enough of it absolutely required to max everything out that it doesn't get old. I'm not that interested in coming back for the harder bosses but I will probably check them out to see, perhaps, what new writing they came with. They even went above and beyond to make a game about music and musicians have a rad soundtrack. The jokes, gags, gotchas, gimmicks, the humor, exquisitely done. Good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.
Really awesome game from start to finish. Went into it not expecting too much and found a game pack full of great humour, fun turn-based game play and an interesting art style with a solid sound track.
Really fun RPG with great pacing that keeps it fresh the whole way through. Big recommend!
only game that shares my obsession for mechanized singin' bass
This game is a refreshing, cool experience that puts me in a really good mood every time i open it. It also has a way of expressing itself no game has done yet I've seen, in its artstyle, fighting mechanics, personality, scenarios, everything is extremely fresh. I recommend playing this game completely blind, no spoilers, no tutorials!! The soundtrack is wonderful too! So wonderful in fact, I purchased it before I even finished the game. Pro tip: if given the opportunity, lie! :) There wont be any consequences.
