You would think, after Rhapsody 1 NISA would add the ability to view the artbooks from the launcher. Well, no. Other than that - really happy these two are finally here, in a language I understand w/o a guide :D Edit: THIS is how Disgaea should go about its DLCs. Despite being just a bunch of tie-ins stories, this is GREAT. Especially for 2 games about two generations of "I need to get laid" lasses.
I feel like this game is old school expanded content for the first two games. The add on stories happen during the previous games its cute...but some of the acts feel like "welcome to the grind zone" with very little story. You get dropped off at each act with low level characters you have to grind up to 14-20 with no story exploration like the last games. Until Act 5 the previous acts feel like just a moment of story and tons of grind. Act 5 could have been expanded into its own game, I would of liked act 5 more if it didn't reuse the maps from 2 of the previous acts. The final act is really what saved this game for me, which is dumb because its just a dungeon with enemies that level to your characters LOL
Hello Friends, Today I will review the game Rhapsody 3: Memories of Marl Kingdom. This is the third game in this series. It has story elements from the first and second games in it from different perspectives. For example, a player may play a similar scenario found in the second game, but from a minion or a evil character that is playable. This game changes the formula again from the second game. In this game, the fighting is done in rows of players. This allows for different combination of characters and monsters to fight enemies. This also can entail using strategy. For example, using ice elemental enemies against fire enemies and light against dark. This allows the player to have 16 character at once on the field to fight enemies. The fighting is done usually with the main character, and the row characters usually do their own moves automatically. The front row character can do combo and can do specials with the row characters also. The music is back in this version, but like the previous game, it is untranslated and only has English subtitles. Also, the leveling in this game may require grinding to fight certain bosses if the player wants to have certain characters in their team to be high enough to beat certain bosses. The other big change is the game is now split into episodes. The character can choose on the menu which episode they will play. Each one is like a separate game the player can play. Beating one episode opens the next one, and so on. Apparently there is a bonus episode after playing all the other episodes, but this bonus one has achievements, so if a player does play it, they my swell beat the bonus episode too. Anyways, here is my pros and cons list: PROS: - The game takes place after beating the first and second game. Without spoiling too much, it is strongly recommended if players want to play the third game, they play the first and second game in the order they are numbered. As many things in the third game take place during events from those other two games. - Much more world building and history of the world. Playing from different perspective in each scenario shows the story from different perspectives, which can be interesting too. This game is lore heavy with history of the Marl Kingdom. - The fighting in this game is more strategy based. Also, there can now be 16 character fighting at the same time, if the player can find enough monsters or characters to hire to fight for them. Players can also recruit monsters and use them in different episodes. - Unlockable episodes and including a bonus episode. Only a few episodes use chapters in them. - Works on windows 11 OS. - Works with controllers. I used a Zen Pro switch controller. CONS: - The songs are not translated into English, just like the second game. There are subtitles at least. - I experienced a bug for the last bonus episode. It messed up some characters not being able to join me in the final scenario. Instead a glitch happened where it showed distorted characters which i could not use. - They changed the game format and this might be not favorable to some as it is different than the previous games. - This game has a lot of grinding of levels in it. This may not be fun for everyone to power level the characters for hours to get them to certain levels. Do I recommend the game? Yea, it is not a too hard a game but it does require some grinding. Although several things were changed from the original game and second game, this game has links to the first and second games. There is much more lore in this game, so knowing what happened in the first and second game is strongly recommended that a player has previous played them to understand the third game. The fighting in the game has changed from the second game. It is more like row fighting where the first character in the row controls the moves of the whole road. The other characters in the row may do automatic fighting moves also. There is room to have 16 characters to fight with in this game, including recruitable characters and monsters. The music is again untranslated into English, but does subtitles on the bottom of the screen. The game uses episodes that are like separate games, and when one is beaten, it opens another one. Each episode has their own main characters, but monsters that were recruited from previous episodes can be used in each episode. So the game fills in a lot of lore from the previous games, and basically concludes the series in this game. So players who tried the first two games may want to play this one last, as it involves a lot of lore from the previous games.
Extremely bad game with only one redeemable factor. Now, why am I giving it a like? It is because that factor was enough to be a game itself. Story: It is divided into five plus a bonus story. Only two are important, and one out of the two is the best thing. First story is Cornet before the events of Musical Adventure, pretty pointless. Second is after the ending of the second game. Aside from Crea, the story was pretty bad. Third was Marjoly, pointless. Fourth are about the two cats that got turned into cats, and how Akurjo got sick. Wasn't bad, but was still awful to say. The fifth now, this is what the best thing is. As it covers Cherie's past, up until she protect's Cornet and dies. Her final wish being to fulfill the promise she made to Cornet. This story was very tragic, and it shows how her life fell apart, how she grew to love someone, get married. However, just for war to strip that away. She would eventually seal away the weapon, and years later, that's when her demise comes. This was a very deep one, and the rest were complete and utter waste of time. This whole thing felt like a DLC(Except for Cherie's story), and should have just been treated as that. They should have opened up all stories, and let the players play whichever they want. System: Good, but also pretty bad. 1. Too many characters on a single screen for the type of format. 2. Horribly balanced. 3. Summon system is useless, since you have to recruit new ones each story either way. You cannot summon a monster that is a higher level. 4. Half-baked catching mechanic. They added an extra with rewards and certain skills increasing the chance, but it is still not really noticeable. 5. Too much grinding, I mean seriously. I played Disgaea and liked the grind in those games. Though, in this one? It is abysmal. I think you get the point, a lot is bad about this game. The way teams work is that there is a leader unit, and each leader can have up to three units behind them that makes up their stat total. Monsters can be commanded through puppets at the expense of the leader unable to act. Either way, they will act on their own if this option is not used. While a good concept, it makes everything very cluttered, and how enemy attacks can be. Sometimes it cannot even be tracked. This sort of system does not work out too well with how the screen is positioned. On top of this, it takes forever for a turn to end, you can't even skip stuff. Music: Good, but there wasn't much. The best one was with Cherie. Seriously, should have just made the entire game about her story. I'd be much less critical, there is a prologue, six acts, and the finale for Cherie's story. Art Style: Amazing. Overall: It is a horrendous game, with the Cherie story being the only reason this is getting a thumbs up. Quick tip, just use Cheat Engine for Night Spawn. The amount of stupidity to get this one into the Bonus Chapter isn't worth going through it. Reach like lvl 18 or 19 with Cherie and then lock her experience to 0. Boost some monsters with the cheat, and knock out Night Spawn. It is not worth going through the trouble in the least. As a last note, for those wondering, Cherie is the protagonist.
名作
I would give this one an in-between rating if I could because while it *is* fun early on, the large maps and grind they put in to blatantly drag out the game really dampen the experience. Wait for a sale.
