This game is like a B-movie with zero budget. UPDATE: the developer has ruduced the initial price by a significant amount. If you’ve ever played an Unreal engine game from a small studio, you know what to expect. It has bad optimization and graphics that don’t justify the large size of the game. The world, aside from a few decent character models, does not appear remarkable. Your graphics card will work at full speed for no reason at all. You can walk through some objects, textures look low quality and without anti-aliasing, and there are some inconsistencies. For instance, the flashlight in the prologue is bad, but the one carried by the female protagonist throws a much better light. Environments are dark and boring with no interesting or interactable objects. As expected, shooting is bad. Enemies are the usual zombies that rush at you or stand still when you run around the corner. It’s almost impossible to hit them once they get close because you raise the gun in such a way you can’t aim. You can forget about shooting through holes in the environment because bullets only hit when there’s nothing between you and the enemy. Sometimes you'll encounter a "boss" that is a classic bullet sponge that doesn't die even when you fire 50 shotgun rounds into its head. No health bar makes it hard to see if you’re close to dying. To make matters worse, there are no checkpoints. This becomes unbearable once you reach the elevator in one of the first stages. I clipped through and died twice. And then the next time with those "boss" enemies; they're more dangerous dead than alive. Its dead body didn't clip the correct way on the rubble and got thrown on me. Naturally, the game thought I got hit by the boss so I died. Now repeat the entire level again because it's "fun". Your patience will wear thin due to the pace and constant loading. There are a lot of cutscenes packed into just 5 to 10 minutes of gameplay, but fortunately they don't take very long to load. The subtitles are a mess. It's basically a bunch of words that, based on how little they match the voices, how very few ending punctuations there are, and how they don't follow to capitalization rules, clearly didn't go through proofreading. The prologue's voices are great, but the rest of the game's voices are really bad with heavy accents. Another prevalent issue is poor sound direction and the sporadic use of a low voice. And finally, the current price needs to be a lot lower. I enjoy an ocassional low-tier game when the gameplay is there. Sadly, there are too many bad decisions here that prevent you from having at least some fun. Perhaps the developers will work on it and improve things here and there. I'd be happy to change the rating!
Curator page here--> DaRevieweD #209 <-- New review every week

"IT’S PRONOUNCED DEATH BLEW-!!"
Here's The Thing: You first play as ??, who is en route with his partners to a crime scene that was radioed in. You are reluctant, but your teammates and their macho games, choose to investigate the sus graveyard instead. 48 hours later, you play as Rachel, who must clean up the mess you get from disobeying a direct order~
! DISCLAIMER !
(1) I was very excited to play this, but I knew something was up when the devs first delayed the game by months, AND kept radio silence on their progress. (2) I gave them two weeks to fix things, but the game is still as broken and in a sorry state as before. (3), I’m convinced most of the reviews were bought or unreasonable; this game shouldn’t have gotten a “very positive” rating. Only the negative reviews (mine included) + a minority of the positives + those who finished it, tell the whole truth~
[+] PROS;

:) B-MOVIE-GAME AT ITS FINEST~
To call it gameplay would be a disservice to games out there, but I must label it something! It’s a very bare-bones 3rd person survival horror, the likes of RE Operation Raccoon City, only worse… but we’ll get to that! Anyway, the shooter parts are functional albeit simplistic; literally all you do is grab some guns, outflank zombies, bang a few times, reload said guns, and chase down objective markers. Now the parts I liked- you can sprint forwards & backwards as you aimed down sight, that was something, and it suited the action which could get rather frenetic! It came off like a so-good-it’s-bad (but really it’s just bad) b-movie that was very rigid in its pacing. There was also… its brevity, although believe me, it felt longer than it actually was. Not much else to point out, except it’s a one-off experience that should last upwards of 2.5 hours and with no new game+ or anything of that sort. Praise the higher power for that~ TIPS: 1) Holster your gun first before picking up things and doing other stuff.
:) EVERYTHING ELSE THEY RUSSIAN; NOT THIS!
When it comes to visuals, I’ve never been really picky but- with the exception of the environments and iffy textures, it fared pretty well especially for a b-game! A handful of location changes, snazzy cutscenes to hold your gaze, and… yeah! Sure, some character models look ridiculously alike and you go through the same few enemies quicker than overnight pizza. However, it never occurred to me that I should gouge my eyes out or anything as a result of them. I mean, the rest of the game took care of that! The team makes no attempt to hide their fanaticism of Resident Evil; a character looks like Raymond from Revelations, three others were named after people from that series, and the story oozes of the 2002 live action movie but also The Evil Within in plot structure! The “zombieness” screams The Walking Dead and The Last of Us. That said, the premise itself is novel-ish, not that it has much to say~
[-] CONS;

:( LOADING SCREEN? TRY OVERLOADING!
It sounds as if I’m faulting this title due to its overreliance on cutscenes & loading screens (CLS), but it’s mainly directed at its cunning snail-paced intro where nothing worthwhile happens. Playing out like a drawn-out movie, only they have you control the character just for the sake of having even the slightest feel of agency… with the actual gameplay only popping off 40-50 minutes in. It would’ve been fine if it’s confined to just the start, but these “non-game sections” are scattered across its whole length. Often requiring little to no input besides picking up a single item, talking to ONE person or killing one/two enemy; before another CLS takes over! So, my god, why!? I’ll tell you why, it knows that if it showcased its meatier bits early on, nobody would stick around... It’s no coincidence that the progression goes from “polished af” to, “chipped-off polish”, and finally "no polish whatsoever"~ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2908267873
:( STANDARDS? THEY BE-LOW… SO. VI. ET.
The gunplay is in desperate need of a massive overhaul, because what you aim at WON’T necessarily be what you fire at! Multiple enemies charge at you at the same time? Bullets ricochet everywhere except where you want it to land. These moments worsened by the jittery locomotion that is the whirlwind of frustration posed by the player character, hopped-up-on-sugar enemies, and uncooperative camera! The mechanics are also all seemingly against you, what with there being no accurate health gauge, no quick weapon swap, prompting comes and goes, and how the game cannot tell apart headshots from grazes by treating them the same yet indiscernible… https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2908265939
:( NOWHERE TO GO BUT DOWN~
This next one is a conglomerate of cons, the first being the environments, which was varied and rosy up until the budget depleted. Then sections of the very same underground lab-prison were cut-and-pasted to disastrous effect becoming one giant unrecognizable mess! The voice-acting wasn’t too terrible- if you’re hearing-impaired that is. The weirdest part? The more capable voice talents took on secondary roles; whereas the leads either got stuck with thick accents or not knowing which words to enunciate. It’s possible the team badly spliced together lines to fit the animations of the lips. Super funny overall, until you must relive certain conversations over and over… This adaptation of the notorious Russian Sleep Experiment lasted approximately 5 minutes and two exposition bombs, with the rest of the game simply existing so you have something to “survive”! I’m already dreading as to how the sequel will hope to pick things up~
:( THAT’S QUITE A DROP… IN QUALITY.
I don’t usually factor bugs in the scoring, but I don’t see any way around it for this title. Half the time, the bugs are either game-breaking, which amounts to restarting a past checkpoint, or aggravating to the highest degree that you just want to self-lobotomize. Let’s face facts, it’ll take a saint to get through this without spamming-pounding on the “E” key, and making fists as you puff out red smoke… The audacity of the devs to originally price this at 20+ bucks (now ¼ of that) when it wasn’t even playtested is the biggest crime here~
BUGS:
x Many times where I just up-and-died for no reason… x Catapulted out of a moving elevator. RIP. Restart! x Interaction prompts don’t work. Spam and pray they trigger. x Limbs and entire bodies of dead undead flagellate. x Philip(?) will get stuck (becoming unavailable to help you) somewhere if you backtrack. x Some parts/enemies weren’t even programmed? x Enemies (and player character) can climb the most ridiculous things if you press space. x Bathroom stall limbo. x Various instances of full-on floating objects, partially touching ones, and textures caressing each other. x The rest can be found in the comments~
NITPICKS:
~ More saves needed. ~ Typos in the subtitles; even the “to be continieu”. Some Russian text left untranslated. ~ AI-controlled partners all walk in the same way & rhythm. ~ Some objects’ prompts and icons get reused. ~ Gun gets holstered when you drop a few feet. ~ Missing sound effects. ~ Ammo reserves text competes with the closed captions. ~ Crouch delay.
"AND IT DID; CHUNKS EVEN~"
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2908269831 Last Words? Survival horror that’s more b-movie zombie flick interspersed with morsels of interactivity. Fun got shot early on, story left for dead by the middle, and the end- everything about it was below par~
2.5 / 10

A key was provided by the developer Marsoft.
It simply is as expected: Bad. Very bad. Graphics are ugly, most probably a lot of standard Unreal items used. And it does a LOT of loading even for very short sequences. Sorry i can`t write more since i had to stop playing after around 15 minutes....
* Update below * This game is hilarious. One of the funniest I've played all year. Although I'm 95% sure it's unintentional. From the voice acting to the absolute absurd behaviour of the cast you'll be in stitches. Sadly though the actual game is busted. Movement feels restricted yet sprinting (When the game lets you) performs like you're on ice. Enemy hit boxes I think exist in this game but I don't say that with full confidence. Enemy AI has questionable "I" and the game is ugly to look at. With that being said if this was around the £10 mark I would have played more but at £20+ it's actually absurd to charge that price. Wait for a sale and stream it to some friends for a good chuckle but to play it and enjoy it on your own is a big NO until some extremely necessary updates get made. For my First Impressions of Death Below check out my video here: https://youtu.be/AgBg8z3MyWM * Since this review the developer has lowered the price to £5 from £20. I have to give full credit to them for lowering the price especially by this amount. Without a doubt some gameplay updates are still needed but at this price point I would at least tell you to try the game out.
Death Below - is an action, horror, shooter and survival game in which you will have to fight against monsters in a story timed manner. The game's plot is based on a legend about a Soviet experiment from the 1940s. A large number of various opponents that suddenly pop up all the time keep you in good shape and fear, a very gloomy atmosphere, which is supported by really scary music and good photorealistic graphics.
Very interesting action movie! You literally plunge into a dark world and begin an exciting investigation. In 1940, there was a legend about the Soviet experiment, and 82 years later the developers released a game related to this experiment. From the beginning, you will control two players at different times, more specifically Steve and Reichel. Audio and video: the developers provided the game with very good graphics, which will not let you leave it. Gameplay and story of the game: Everything is top notch, the game really makes sense. You will not be bored. Very pleased with the fact that to fully understand the story does not need to read a million texts and hints. In two words: an interesting game that definitely won't let you get bored.
I really want to love this as i'm a huge zombie fan, the story is done horribly, the charchterss sound robotic, ammo is not enough to kill zombies as there are alot which could be fixed by allowing you to outsmart zombies btu not these guys, they are quick and well in the intro i died 3 times due to ai clipping and causing me to die, the fps are also very low even on a 4090 at 100. The game just in my opinion should be free as then the devs could see what works and try making a new game. This is just very horribly done, and well i can not recommend this, it would be alot better to play russian roulette.
