Care Bears: To The Rescue

Care Bears always seemed like a “budget” franchise to me, like something trying to be one of the cool toy and animation front runners for kids, but falls short in every way and ends up a bit like the last choice, and this game feels the same way. Let’s start with the story, which is plain and uninteresting. Now I don’t know much about the Care Bears lore, but it didn’t take me long to start skipping the dialogue. There also is no voice acting, which is a big miss considering this game’s target audience likely is kids who can’t read yet, and just because the story blows, voice acting could have juiced it up a bit at least. So, if you ask me, just skip the cutscenes and go straight to the gameplay. The gameplay is a straightforward platformer that again is made for kids, so not much of a challenge there. There are lots of levels though. The map has 5 worlds with 7 levels in each if I remember correctly. When playing you can collect stars and disintegrate enemies with your Care Bears love rays. Enemies drop health regen pickups when dead. So why do I recommend this? I bought this on Steam for like 3 bucks on sale, which makes it way cheaper than most games for children sold here on Steam. It also runs well on the Steam Deck and even with its boring story, it was way more interesting than a game like e.g. Barbie Project Friendship, which is priced at 40 bucks. [h1]Los Osos Amorosos 🩷💛💚💙💜[/h1] Los Osos Amorosos (Care Bears en inglés y Ositos Cariñositos en latam) es una serie que llegó a España a principios de los noventa. Tuve la suerte de poder ver algo en la infancia, aunque en su día me pareció una serie demasiado naíf y tontilla. En la serie los osos tenían cada uno un poder propio y lo utilizaban para enfrentarse a la maldad con el amor. Este poder surgía a través de un rayo que salía de sus barriguitas. Con el tiempo, esa estética de osos de colores ha sido reinterpretada desde una óptica camp dentro de la cultura LGBTIQ+, asociándola con la bandera arcoíris y, en concreto, con la subcultura de los "osos", resignificando no solo su ideal de amor y paz, sino también el de la diversidad y la inclusión. [u][b]El juego[/b][/u] El juego de los Osos Amorosos es un plataformas de scroll lateral tradicional en el que utilizas el salto y el botón del rayo para eliminar enemigos y poder avanzar. Lo que tiene de diferente es que en algunos puntos tendrás que utilizar un oso concreto para que emplee su poder, como hacer un puente, llenar de agua zonas o alumbrar. Realmente, esos osos están al lado de dichas zonas, por lo que solo tienes que pulsar el botón del rayo para utilizar sus poderes. Aparte de estas fases de plataformas, hay otra en la que tienes que utilizar un avión para atacar al boss y unas últimas fases de cada mundo (5 en total) con un pequeño minijuego. El juego es tremendamente fácil. No hay límites de vidas y superar las fases no supone un reto (aunque en algunas del final hay que afinar el salto), por lo que es ideal para público infantil y personas que quieran disfrutar sin complicaciones. En cuanto a coleccionables, el juego cuenta con alrededor de 100 pegatinas que tienes que encontrar para conseguir el logro. Algunas de estas sí que están bien escondidas y, si las pasas por alto, vas a tener que volver a jugar la fase. Aparte de estas pegatinas, están las estrellas, que realmente no sirven para nada, y me hubiera gustado que se les diera algún uso por obtenerlas, como canjearlas por nuevos personajes, etc. Como curiosidad, el juego lo puedes disfrutar con hasta 4 personas, pudiendo revivir a los osos y utilizar el poder de cada uno cuando toque hacerlo. Care Bears: To The Rescue is a great modern example of how to make a worthwhile family friendly video game. The gameplay loop is simple, but surprisingly varied for a game of this type. You play as a care bear of your choice and traverse your way through platformer levels, using your belly beam to take out enemies and solve puzzles. Each bear has their own special abilities, so there's a reason to try all of them aside from just your favourite. At the end of each world, there's a space shooter style boss where you ride in the careplane and dodge debris, and after that is a minigame exclusive to the world. Each level (excluding minigame levels) also features 3 hidden stickers to collect. Another interesting aspect of this game is that it supports local multiplayer. The game is pretty easy, as expected, but there were some segments that were surprisingly challenging or required finding another pathway through. Penalties for dying are incredibly light - there is no "lives" system, and you're simply sent back to the last checkpoint without even losing your collectables. In space shooter levels, you don't get sent back at all and simply have to wait a few seconds to respawn. All in all, this game is nice if you're a big care bears fan, are looking for a game the family can play together, or just like platformers that are on the more casual side. However, avoid this if you're looking for a more challenging title.

The game is relatively simple: You jump, you run, you use your belly beams to defeat a relatively low number of enemies. The game is quite easy and child-friendly in that there is no permanent defeat, most enemies are slow and passive or telegraph their attacks very clearly. Due to each bear having their own special trait, one of them being self-healing, one other helping in finding hidden stickers, the game can be made even easier. The worlds are varying and colorful, like the characters, the story is a simple "light has to stop darkness" that very well fits the story of singe episodes of the show. The only few parts that are a little bit harder and might be a challenge to children are typical platformer hazards like platforms that disappear after some seconds, very young or very new players might require occasional help with this part. At the end of each world is a shoot-em-up-style boss battle. These are equally easy, especially as you respawn immediately upon defeat. They, sadly, are quite monotone and far too slow and too long for their own sake. I do enjoy the general idea of this genre mix, though. Stickers are optional collectibles. Compared to other, similar games they're relatively easy to find once you have a bit of platformer experience. There are no "mean tricks" to hide them. You might want to go with games like "Castle of Illusion" instead. Do you just want some colorful, relaxing jumping without despair? Or do you want to introduce young players to platforming? Asides from short playtime and relatively simple mechanics, this game really doesn't do anything "wrong", asides from its lack of key remapping and accessibility options. So while the game is most definitely geared towards children. Me and my Wife still had a lot of fun achievement hunting the game together ❤️ i would say to any parents looking for a little game for their kids 14,99€ is a fine price for a cute little platformer (Note to the devs why did you have to make the Blusterland Theme so catchy?). So i think this game has earned a cute 4 out of 5 stars in cuteness. Perfect for kids and easily entertained adults hunting cute achievements, or just searching for something cozy.

Care Bears: To The Rescue is an 2D jump and run game and it feels actually good to play: + 25 levels + 5 plane level with boss fight + 5 mini games + good controls + good level desgin + graphics and style are alright + collectiables to find in each level + hud, interface, world map and menu design is neat + soild soundtrack + 7 playable characters (the bears have 1 ability other thing that feels different from each other Cons: - no voice acting - not much sound effects the worlds sometimes feels a bit to quiet - game feels to short 3-4 hours it would be that bad if its alteast wouldnt had an time attack mode for more replay valvue If you like 2D platformers games its worth to check it out if its in an 75% sale, a soild entry in the genre, not the best but also not the worst in its genre,

[h1] Genre [/h1] Ein Familienfreundlicher 2D Plattformer [h1] Story [/h1] Ein Experiment des Bösen Schurken Bluster ist Fehlgeschlagen und nun sind Böse Pflanzen im ganzen Land verstreut und verbreiten Unheil. Wir als Glücksbärchis müssen dies nun wieder gerade biegen [h1] Gameplay [/h1] Das Spiel ist ein sehr Familienfreundlicher Plattformer und damit eben auch Kindgerecht. Es gibt insgesamt 5 Welten mit jeweils 6 Level und einem Boss. Die Boss Level sind immer Shoot Em Up Stages, was Abwechslung ins Spiel bringt. Am Ende einer Welt gibt es dann auch noch ein Minispiel, welche alle ganz nett gestaltet sind. Die einzelnen Level sind recht simpel und kurz gehalten. Man kann nur Springen, sich an Seile festhalten und mit dem Glücksstrahl schießen um Böse Feinde wieder Friedlich zu machen. Natürlich kann man sich zu Beginn eines jeden Levels einen der 5 Glücksbärchis aussuchen. Diese haben Unterschiedliche Passive Fähigkeiten. Einer ist z.B. schneller, dafür kann ein andere sich Heilen. Ich habe nur Brumbärchi (den Blauen Bären) gespielt, weil dieser Sticker in der nähe Orten kann. In jedem Level gibt es 3 Sticker zu sammeln. Diese kann man sich in seinem Album anschauen und bekommt auch ein paar Informationen zu den Charakteren oder Fahrzeugen, was ich auch sehr nett gemacht finde, besonders für Kinder. Man kann das Spiel sogar mit bis zu 4 Spielern an einem PC spielen wenn man denn neben der Tastatur, noch 3 Controller angeschlossen hat. Das finde ich auch sehr nett gemacht, wenn man z.B. kleinere Kinder hat, die alleine noch nicht so zurecht kommen, um diese dann beim spielen zu Helfen. Die Grafik des Spiels sieht Hübsch aus und die Deutsche Text Übersetzung ist ordentlich [h1] Achievement Schwierigkeit 2/10 [/h1] Es gibt insgesamt 25 Erfolge. So gut wie alle bekommt man beim Durchspielen Automatisch. Man muss halt in jedem Level alle Sticker einsammeln. 2 der Erfolge sind Co-Op bedingt und zwar einmal mit jemandem zusammen spielen und einen Mitspieler wiederbeleben. Die Grafik sieht Hübsch aus und man kann mit bis zu 4 Spielern an einem PC spielen, wenn man denn neben der Tastatur noch 3 Controller angeschlossen hat.
