About

From the creative director of Eternal Darkness and Legacy of Kain, Denis Dyack returns once more, only this time with a small indie team of fewer than 10 developers.

Early Access players are supporting a small indie team building Deadhaus Sonata directly with the community.
Your $19.99 contribution helps fund ongoing development, including new classes, expanded systems, content updates, optimization, and future improvements.

Games shouldn’t vanish. Worlds shouldn’t die. Players shouldn’t lose what they’ve built.
We believe the future belongs to living games. Worlds that persist, evolve, and stay in the hands of the players who shape them. POWERED BY THE NEW ETERNITY ENGINE, Deadhaus Sonata is designed to endure, a foundation that supports long-term evolution, player-driven content, and a future where the game doesn’t disappear, it grows.
Something new is coming… and it changes what it means for a game to last.

Become the undead and step into the iconic role of the Vampire. Feed on the living to grow stronger, unlock supernatural abilities, and evolve through a progression path built around dominance and mastery. Other undead forms wait in the dark, ready to be revealed.

Explore a land shattered by divine war and corruption. Malorum is filled with haunted fortresses, forgotten kingdoms, and ruins shaped by ancient history. Every discovery reveals new layers of lore where nothing is ever as it first appears.

Harness supernatural mobility, strike with precision, and unleash abilities that reward timing, positioning, and clever decision-making. Your undead form is your greatest weapon, and more forms will emerge as your power grows.

Deadhaus Sonata features a tarot-based skill system where every card represents arcane power shaped by Malorum’s forgotten history. Cards are earned through quests, battles, and exploration, and each one unlocks new abilities that can be mixed, matched, and upgraded.
Build for precision, raw power, mobility, tanking, or supernatural control. The tarot system gives you endless ways to refine your build and unleash devastating forces against the living.

Loot in Deadhaus Sonata is earned through feats that track your actions, history, and performance, not random drops. Every item is shaped by what you do.
Gear, artifacts, legendary items, and tarot cards all tie into Malorum’s supernatural and political history. Playing is crafting, and your past becomes a resource that influences your future.

Deadhaus Sonata is a story-driven experience, featuring more than 15 hours of professionally voiced narration.
Created by Denis Dyack, known for his work on Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and Too Human, Deadhaus Sonata is a new dark fantasy world shaped by psychological depth, interconnected lore, and player-driven consequence. Every choice leaves a mark on your character and the world around you, with sentient gear, persistent events, and outcomes shaped by time, place, and action.

The game has a lot of potential, let them cook, and we’ll see how it turns out. Sometimes the game will suddenly get extremely tough for no apparent reason; you’ll find yourself surrounded by dozens of enemies who’ll spam you with attacks, and dozens of archers hiding behind them. Despite DLSS, some areas run at 20 fps, particularly the catacombs. No subtitles and only in English, so for a game where the lore is extremely important, not understanding a thing doesn’t help.
What in the... This is bad, just bad. The combat is miserable, the play is clunky at best, and the voices and environments are jarring. The cards are random and all over the place. The fighting 'style' is.... Weird at best...
The core design direction of this game appear to be the exaltation of the player, to render thee magnificent as thou cleave through scores of foes. Its skills are wrought for spectacle, enemies placed to be undone in grand and theatrical fashion. All of this is wrapped in a vampiric aesthetic, voiced and written in the mythic cadence reminiscent of Legacy of Kain. Diplomatically, one must acknowledge that the game, in its present state, remains unrefined, its combat lacking in depth, its performance imperfect, its feature set incomplete. Yet it dares where other do not, it weaves an esoteric clockwork based on planetary alignments, rooted not in heliocentrism, but in an ancient cosmology wherein each celestial body bears its own mystic resonance. Moreover, it implements a unified weather system, wherein the forecast governs the world. When the sky is sunlit, all lands bask in day, when night falls, darkness veils every corner alike. This cohesion binds the realm into a singular, breathing sphere, zones do not feel disjointed, but as one earthbound stage upon which thy deeds unfold.
I'm here because of blood omen and too human. first off, this is an early access game. its not perfect, not polished, and doesn't have much. its a great start. the nostalgia hit was unfair, i didn't expect it.
This is pretty much just a demo at the time of this review. It has a good story thus far and the fighting is ok. I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I hope that the Tarot Cards will be made client side loot. I grew up playing Legacy of Kain and the Soul Reaver collection. I loved playing them and I hope Apocalypse Studios can make this game just as fun. I can't wait to see how the game develops.
Deadhaus Sonata Early Access has been good fun so far. I really enjoy the dark, atmospheric world that feels genuinely fresh, and the combat—especially the unique undead classes—shows huge potential. Even though the game is in its early stages, the game nails its tone, offers satisfying abilities, and the devs have hinted at a deep, repayable experience. Everything I have seen so far has left me very optimistic, I’m excited to see how it develops in the future.
UNDERSTAND IN ADVANCED THIS GAME IS IN VERY and i do mean VERY early state, Many of the features planned are not currently implemented and the game is not very optimized currently, However...that said, If you are looking for an Extremely deep and lore rich game that you can actually become part of the lore, this is the game for you...I have been following DHS since it was just concepts and an idea, and i have been a member of the community discord since 2021, In the 5 years ive been a part of the community, I have made friends and had a Great time talking with people, Theory crafting and digging through the Mountains of lore for this world, if you love Grim dark, This is for you, if you like the undead Get in here. Yes the game is VERY Barebones atm, But The bones are solid, and the Foundation for this to be a Spectacular game is all right there. If you are Genuinly interested in trudging through the Alpha state it is currently in, Then buy it, If your just interested in the idea and want to play it when it comes out, Wait. Unless you really enjoy alpha/beta testing its better to wishlist and watch for now, but if you want to be part of the first age of the story and have a chance to cement your name in the Legends of Deadhaus, Then join us...Vae Victus. Edit - Though it says I only have 7 hours of playtime understand that I have 60-70 hours in the pre-alpha stage of the game as i was one of the Playtesters for the early builds of the game, So the hours i have in game are not accurately reflected through steam
i think its a fun concpet, especially with the astrological signs being a puzzle mechanic. the tarot card system is fun and gives you the fun of trading cards (without spending tons like pokemon!). def recommend this game :D a very worthwhile game :D
