About
Dead Static Drive is Grand Theft Cthulhu—a survival-horror road trip through a nightmare version of 1980s Americana. Scavenge, fight, and sneak your way across small towns and eerie highways as reality begins to unravel.
Play as Hearst, a wayward traveler searching for their missing parents—and answers—in a world collapsing under the weight of something ancient and wrong. Trust is your most valuable resource, and you’ll need to rely on others to survive. Evade the police. Protect those around you. And help stop a violent, paranoid man whose delusions are putting everyone at risk—including his own children.
You didn’t grow up here. You don’t know the streets, the faces, or the things people see after dark. All you have is a strange letter, with no return address, and a growing sense that something’s gone terribly wrong.
Your parents live out this way. Or lived. You haven’t heard from them in too long. Now there’s smoke on the horizon and strange news on the wind.
You came to find your family. You came to understand what’s happening. If you don’t keep moving, you won’t get the chance to do either.
Something stirs beneath the pavement.

Boy howdy, no wonder the devs kept mostly radio silent for the past... years. They knew what kind of nothing burged they had on their hands, in short what you see on the screenshots is what you get, a posterchild of style over substance. The Bad: - lackluster driving experience - no car engine sound - ubiquitous firearms in all places except where you would expect them to be like in the trunk of a cop car, to the point you don't care to pick them up or even search for them - royalty free level of synthwave music, nah scratch that, synthwave from a half assed commercial aping synthwave aesthetic - picked mechanic for when my car inevitably breaks; ride around and a encountered scripted sequence where your car breaks (just what I planed for) and MC says "it's fubar, can't fix it" (you what?), I run off to steal another car and are met with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ car whiz waiterss that materialized in the nearby bushes, mind you the only person that can fix your ride because as my mechanic MC himself said "im don't know that much about engines", cool player choices who did you learn from, telltale games? - really bad inventory controls - rigid and early developement like player animations - any little shift in elevation forces your player to do a annoying stuttering jump up action, which is a big deal when the whole map is clutered with all sorts of ♥♥♥♥ - body type 1 body type 2, nuff said - New hot of the press bug! with the latest update if you press ESC anywhere ingame you get sent to the map screen and the only way to leave it is to go back to title screen and load your game or Alt + F4 The good: - you didn't ♥♥♥♥ up the performance, bravo Worth the wait 7/10 - IGN
I have no idea what everyone is so unhappy about in the reviews. This is exactly the game I've been waiting for since 2017. And this game has a huge plus - it was released after all. Have respect for the developers, it was already difficult for them to do all this while working upside down on the other side of the planet.
Fun game! Very excited to get more into it. There's a couple minor things that people have pointed out like the resolution applying each time you cycle through it, but honestly that's a what....2 min "issue". Picked up somebody, randomly stole a muscle car, and then ran into weird enemies all within the very start of the game already, and the driving so far's very satisfying. Fun!
世紀末小作品,記得選個開車/修車強的主角,因為車都是玩家開,玩家修 有中文就更好了 we need Chinese translation !!!!
I'm really enjoying this game. It's not perfect, it could use a little more polish, but I'm having a lot of fun and enjoying exploring the world :)
The controls are a little clunky, but that's it. They already added a tutorial (which you didn't need in order to learn how to play)
Have really dug it so far. The vibes are a really compelling line between mellow and creepy; you know *something's* coming but you can't tell what, until suddenly you get out in a parking lot and everything goes to hell. That's the sort of thing that really scratches an itch for me. Also, looooove driving in this.
Waited so many years for this <3
Love the atmosphere and the exploration. Runs great on a Macbook with Crossover and on the Steam Deck.
