good
Day of Infamy is a more upgraded and tactical Day of Defeat. The game it's self plays wonderfully and similar to their other title "Insurgency" so you need to be tactical and slow, and always be careful of your surroundings as opposed to a regular FPS where you just run and gun. The matches (especially the co-op) are intense and amazing for anyone looking for a small scale MilSim game that still makes you feel like you're ACTUALLY on the battlefield. The con to this game is there's only a small amount of maps to choose from and the developers have actually abandoned the game after the release of their WW1 Mod "Screaming Steel", leaving the community wanting more. Speaking of the community, we're down to maybe 40 people on at its peak at times, but the small community that is there are incredibly wholesome and always willing to help out a new player. Genuinely one of my favourite WW2 FPS's of the last generation, just a shame that New World decided to abandone Day of Infamy for their most popular title currently "Insurgency: Sandstorm". I definitely recommend picking this up on sale and jumping into a Co-Op match to get your bearings, the community will most likely be incredibly understanding and actually be more than willing to give you any tips and help you get started.

Very good Game! Needs more Players!
For fans of tactical shooters and WWII games, "Day of Infamy" offers a unique and immersive experience that stands out in a crowded genre. Developed by New World Interactive, this game takes you deep into the European Theatre of WWII with a level of realism and intensity that few other shooters achieve. Gameplay and Mechanics: "Day of Infamy" shines in its emphasis on teamwork and tactical gameplay. The game strips away modern shooter conveniences, offering no minimap, radar, or even a reticle, which makes for a highly immersive experience. This approach means that every shot counts and situational awareness is paramount. One of the game's most compelling features is its class system, which includes roles like Officer, Radioman, Engineer, and Flamethrower, each with specific functions that encourage strategic team play. For instance, officers can call in powerful airstrikes but only if they have a radioman nearby, highlighting the necessity of cooperation. Sound and Atmosphere: The sound design in "Day of Infamy" is exceptional and adds significantly to the immersion. The battlefield is alive with the cacophony of war—rifles crack, explosions boom, and soldiers shout commands and warnings. Playing with a good set of headphones enhances this experience, as you can hear subtle audio cues like footsteps and distant gunfire, which are crucial for tactical awareness. Maps and Modes: The game features a variety of maps inspired by historical battles, such as the dense urban environments of Bastogne and the open beaches of Normandy. These maps are well-designed, offering different challenges and requiring different strategies to master. The modes range from capturing objectives to destroying enemy assets, each promoting different styles of play and tactical thinking. Visuals: While the game runs on the aging Source engine, which means the graphics are not cutting-edge, it still manages to create a convincing and engaging environment. The visual design, coupled with excellent particle effects like smoke and fire, contributes to the overall immersive experience. Learning Curve: New players might find "Day of Infamy" challenging due to its steep learning curve and the game's unforgiving nature. There’s little hand-holding here; success requires learning the mechanics and working closely with your team. This can be a hurdle, but it also makes victories all the more rewarding. Replayability: The game's focus on skill and teamwork over progression systems means that every match can feel different based on the dynamics of the players involved. However, this also means that without a traditional progression system, some players might find less incentive to keep coming back compared to other shooters with more robust leveling and reward systems. Verdict: "Day of Infamy" is a standout title for those who appreciate realistic, team-oriented FPS games. It excels in creating an authentic WWII atmosphere and providing a tactical shooter experience that rewards strategic thinking and teamwork. While it may not appeal to casual gamers due to its difficulty and lack of modern shooter conveniences, it’s a must-play for fans of the genre looking for a more hardcore and immersive experience. Whether you're storming the beaches or holding the line in a bombed-out village, "Day of Infamy" delivers a gripping and visceral war experience that you won't soon forget. If you're a fan of tactical shooters and WWII history, this game is definitely worth your time. Happy gaming, soldier!
