Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Gold Bug Collector's Edition

Fantastic, fun game. 10/10 Definitely recommend this one. - Love the continuous puzzles all the way through. - Great mix of puzzle styles from easy to hard. - Gorgeous old world Kinkade style graphics. - Nice music & voice acting. - You get a dog! Total of 4 hours playtime and the bonus chapter is a direct continuation of the story.

The plot about treasure hunt isn't nearly as interesting as the series' usual forray into murders, but the gameplay makes up for that. 8/10

Somewhat disappointing mix of point-and-click adventure, mini games and hidden object searches. While the hidden object segments are fine, the mini games vary a lot in quality, and the adventure gameplay is rather poor, with most "puzzles" just involving finding obvious "keys" in often highly illogical places, often to access places that, in-universe, have no logical reason to be inaccessible. The connection to the original Poe story is also nearly non-existent, with the two only really having the name of one character and the ultimate end goal in common. I've played Yellow Room from the same publisher before, and that was a much better designed and far more enjoyable game. I know they can do better than this.
