The tenth game of the series, Dark Romance: Hunchback of Notre-Dame is inspired by Victor Hugo's classic novel, but with a twist. You play as Captain Fredric de Borre, who received a mission from Frollo to arrest Quasimodo, the man with a hunchback who's been hunting Esmeralda, the street dancer. If Captain Fredric succeeded in this mission he will become a knight of the Parisian Elite order. The story has many original twists, it is good, except for the Bonus chapter, the addition was unnecessary. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1829881505 The gameplay is unique and fun like most of Domini games, you'll be able to switch between two characters to help each other, and you can see the point of view of each of them. The puzzles are all original and nothing like the usual HOGs, I'll give them credit for this, even the hidden objects scenes each one is different than the other, you get the regular list, or spot the differences, silhouette, a voiced list within a story, you hear the requirements and try to spot them, and the one I liked the most is the riddle ones! and if you don't want to play any of them you can switch to a match 3 game. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1829883096 The music is so beautiful, sometimes you play in silence but then it plays during some scenes. It didn't bother me, it actually made me focus more on the game. The artwork is gorgeous as well, everything is interactive within the scenes, anything you click on will have an animation, the developers clearly worked hard on this game and I appreciate it. Even the maps look great. The journal is the collection of the papers you find scattered around in your journey, the character doesn't write anything from his point of view. The fun thing with the collectibles, that you have three different ones (Tarot cards, Esmeralda's journal, and golden rings) Once you collect them all, you can view them either in the 'Extra' menu or by clicking on the indicators on the screen above the inventory. I liked that you can purchase a whole boudoir room with the gold you've been collecting. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1829885620 Pros: +Beautiful detailed artwork and locations. +Fast traveling map. +Great soundtracks. +Multiple hidden objects scenes (Mix between the usual list of items and silhouette, riddles, voiced) +OK voice-overs. +Variety of puzzles, all are original and not like the other HOGs. +Collectibles Cons: -Boring and an unnecessary bonus chapter. -No steam achievements. (Only in-game achievements) I didn't enjoy the bonus chapter like the main story. I found it rushed, 'unbelievable' and cheesy. If you enjoy HOGs, pick up this one, it is so refreshing compared to the well known repetitive famous ones. Nice!
Another hidden-object game where you can play as two people. Plot is variant of Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Can you uncover all the secrets in this tale? Plot is interesting, hidden object scenes are fun, and the minigames challenging. Do recommend getting in the bundle.
An unnecessary magic-infused remix of the Victor Hugo's classic novel. It seems that someone wanted to write an original story but also wanted the game to include a well-known name. The result is almost offensively trite. Despite this awful premise, the game is quite playable. The animations are good and vibrant and there's enough interesting gameplay content, with clever variations on the familiar hidden-object scene format. That said, everything in the game is very, very easy, even when played on the highest difficulty. Expect to use your brain very little. Which is probably a good idea, anyway, because you don't want it to forever ruin your memory of the story of the Hunchback of Notre-Dame. Note also that in-game achievements do not synchronize with Steam.
excellent
Standard quality HOG and puzzles, the main story is better than the bonus again with the series' cheese levels.
Got a bunch of these Dark Romance in a bundle. Like them pretty well. This one in particular like when something new (that I remember) is introduced. In this case it was a HOG with sliders that you have to move around to highlight the object.
Great game. Nice puzzles - not to difficult, but not too easy either.
