Short version: 15%
Dark Parables 13 is a crime against humanity in a fragmented object game format. Playing it hurts the eyes, and not even the exciting backstories or the lovely scenery can help with that.
Long version:
Requiem for the Forgotten Shadow has a great atmosphere and some good collectable parables. Everything else is, however, terrible. The fragmented scenes are the worst. Everything has the same colour, the fragments are too small, and there are too many details on all background objects. It hurts the eyes, and it can even make you dizzy. It is still not as bad as the adventure-lite parts. There is a strange blinking effect on many actions, it is like an epilepsy test. At least it is easy to tell which items to collect and where to use them. Finally, the puzzles are long and tedious. The last one is a mouse-only quick-time event, probably the worst puzzle I ever met in a hidden a casual adventure game. Although I was praising the backstories, I can say the opposite of the main story. It quickly falls flat on its face with lousy pacing, a dull plot, and probably the worst voice acting in a game published by Big Fish Games. If you are going through the entire series, then, sure, play this one too. You will regret it, but if you are a completionist, that can hardly matter, eh? For everyone else, just stay far away from Dark Parables 13.

Although there's nothing especially wrong with this entry in the Dark Parables set, it's my least favourite to-date. Pros: - lovely art - a good casual game - decent HOP as long as you aren't looking for a list of words (DP HOPs are all visual - you are always looking for pieces used to build a required object) - some puzzles are quite interesting once you fully understand how they work Cons: - these games tend to be pretty linear, but this one felt even more constrained, somehow - I'm a fan of the DP stories and the way they incorporate myths and legends; while this story does have the same premise and there is a mythological background, I just didn't find it compelling; I wasn't waiting to find out "how did this happen?" and "what's the hidden agenda?" nearly as much with this game - the HOPs had some unnecessary quirks in terms of size and presentation of the hidden objects - I truly wish there was more incentive for accuracy and less for speed on the HOPs Overall: still positive, and worth buying if on sale; 7/10 (may be just me)
Good adventure game with good hidden objects scenes, good puzzles and good enough story. 5 hours of play. + not banal puzzles + nice hidden objects scenes + story wasn't bad but also not very good + music and sound effects + graphics + minigames I don't see any bad things in this game but i wouldn't buy it for it's price - buy it on sale for half the price. Overall: 7/10
Dark Parables is one of the BEST HOP game series I have run across and by far one of the most fun. I own almost the entire collection to date and would love to continue adding to my library. Buy the bundle or when they're on sale and you will literally have HOURS of fun. Each of these games takes me roughly 6 hours. Well worth it!
I really like the art, music and other things do along the game.
This is a good game with very challenging puzzle that enjoy. Do not skip them if you like challenging puzzles like me, you will not regret it. Good game!
Excelente jogo de objetos escondidos. Historia muito boa.
This is the thirteenth game in the series. I am only marking it as recommended because if you've played the first twelve you might as well complete the series. This is one of, if not THE, weakest entry so far. They delisted this one with intention. The animation is god tier for HOGs, and the HO puzzles are okay. The HO puzzles get more difficult through the game which is new. But the plot is barely coherent even for HOG standards, and almost all of the puzzles require you to follow the in-game guide for them, or skip. Keep the kint set to 10 second recharge on this one, which is something I've never done. It has steam cards and in-game achievements but not steam achievements. (Any missed achievements are obtainable again after completing the bonus chapters.) The release order of Dark Parables is: Curse of Briar Rose The Exiled Prince Rise of the Snow Queen SPINOFF- Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper The Red Riding Hood Sisters The Final Cinderella SPINOFF- Cursery: The Crooked Man and the Crooked Cat. Jack and the Sky Kingdom Ballad of Rapunzel The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide November 12, 2014 Queen of Sands Goldilocks and the Fallen Star Swan Princess and the Dire Tree The Thief and the Tinderbox Requiem for the Forgotten Shadow Return of the Salt Princess The Match Girl’s Lost Paradise Portrait of the Stained Princess (released in 2019 so there's unlikely to be any more)
Sou completamente VICIADA e APAIXONADA em toda a série Dark Parables. A história é muito bem feita e pensada. Divertida de jogar. Essa coleção é simplesmente perfeita.
