Dark Mysteries: The Soul Keeper Collector's Edition

Very cozy (and creepy at the same time!) graphics, the best I've encountered in HOG games so far, has a decent storyline and minigames. Crashed once but progress was saved so nothing critical. It didn't ruin my experience.

Au début, bonne ambiance (bien que certains bruits soient vraiment agaçants), le jeu est plutôt joli, dommage cependant qu'il n'y ait pas de doublages. Par contre, la quasi totalité des jeux sont les mêmes, donc le jeu devient lassant très rapidement, c'est vraiment dommage. Et il y a des erreurs dans le jeu. En effet, dans un des jeux de recherches d'objets, je devais trouver une planche à découper, que j'ai vu, mais en cliquant rien ne s'est produit. J'ai dû utiliser un indice pour constater que l'objet était une étiquette. Ils ont donc associé le mauvais objet au mot.

Really excellent Hidden Object game with nice artwork and a good soundtrack. Fun to play. The Lovecraftian atmosphere is a definite bonus.

It was just me I'm sure and not the game.. but I kept falling asleep in this one.. seemed kind of like it went on and on. Had no desire to play bonus round.

I went in expecting a basic "find the objects" game with some story in the background. I was not expecting what I got instead! "Dark Mysteries: The Sould Keeper" is a Lovecraft based game, in which a detective (the main character) is called by Charles to solve a series of murders that have been happening in his town, in an island in the middle of nowhere. However, once you arrive you realize Charles may know a bit more than he lets go, and not only everyone's lives are in danger, but yours too. The game is a mix between point and click and "find the objects". You move around picking everything you need, and sometimes you'll see a part of the scenery glowing, meaning you have to play the find the objects minigame, which will give you an item you need to progress. It's entertaining if you like these two genres, and the difficulty is easy-medium. The hint system is amazing, and I didn't need a walkthrough. The story has soooo many elements I love in a story: it's not overly complicated, but allows you to immerse yourself in its world. The main character is not just a placeholder for the player, but an active character in the story. The villain is amazing, as he hinders your progress when he can, and is present through the whole story, making the dynamic between protagonist and villain really, really good. I rarely applaud when I finish any piece of media, but this game deserved it. I really liked, and will replay it.

Interesting puzzles and an easily followed progression for each step. Good story material and the extra was still a bit challenging. The hours seemed to speed by and I had to keep playing as long as I could. The sign of a good game!
