In a world driven by blackmail, time is not money...crime is. Do you have what it takes to uncover the truth while staring at the business end of a gun? Dark Data is a local multiplayer FPS based on the unreleased mid-nineties film of the same name.

I like and recommend this game. If and only if you want a fun time split-screening on a television or playing solo against bots. The core game here is a really fun throwback. The problem is that the "campaign mode" has been under development for around six years. This will now be released as a separate product, called Dark Data: Zero. Hopefully. I'll still buy it when it is. The developer is really good at making games, and extremely kind in all correspondence. The developer is very very bad timelines, not falling off the map, and keeping promises. What was promised as an additional element of this game has to break off into a separate game, which is a different purchase and product. When pointed out that this is wrong, the dev has offered folks keys to the new one. It's not a terrible offer, but the description for this game STILL HAS that the campaign will be updated into this one. It's misleading. Buddy, you HAVE to do better at this stuff. If you fix the description, I'll flip my review to positive.
A stylish throwback multiplayer shooter in the vein of Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, or the underrated The World Is Not Enough on the N64. I've had a blast with this game and still have a bunch of maps and modes to try out. There are are bunch of neat touches like a character creator (I made a vaping Tom Green) and an iron sights/fine aim button for those who instinctively press the left shoulder button after a decade of contemporary shooters. The presentation is digital cyberpunk grunge which suits the game well, curiously updated with more recent developments like cryptocurrency. It works well as a setting and even a story, which I hope will be expanded on in the announced single-player content. Some may find the offline-only multiplayer to be a turnoff, but the couch split-screen works great and the bots (up to 8!) are fun to play against. The intricacies of play are kept refreshingly simple and time-to-kill long, which makes for great fun with friends who aren't big into shooters or haven't played much since the N64 days. I'm in love with Dark Data. It feels like it was made just for me. I have gotten more enjoyment out of it in a few hours than any multiplayer FPS I've tried in years. I didn't have much luck revisiting my favorite N64 shooters with the indistinct visuals and glacial frame rate. Thanks to Pixelfoot for updating that Mountain-Dew-and-Doritios-around-a-CRT-all-night joy that I thought was lost to time.
I legitimately like this game, but i was misled by the trailer severely. I was under the impression it was a single player FPS campaign, not a Multiplayer arena/Counterstrike-esque cyber punk ps1 title. I do like the original premise, and i like the graphics and models alot, however, it just doesnt hold up for me. i understand the developer is making a single player fps, (sequel/prequel?) so maybe id like that installment better. Once again i do not think this is a bad game, i like it alot, but im not a fan of multiplayer and was misled by the teaser.
This is one of my favourite niche games that I can't uninstall. You'll like this if you love Goldeneye/Perfect Dark on the N64. N64 Perfect Dark local multiplayer without campaign. It's a competent new N64 experience. Be sure to leave the graphics on "console" and the lowest resolution for maximum nostalgia. This is only local multiplayer (with bots), but that's what I was looking for. You can choose between game modes, maps, weapons, bot amount and bot difficulty. Why I like it: everything in the game makes you feel you are playing Perfect Dark on the N64. Missing in action: Facility, random weapon/level selection, individual bot difficulty
A great couch multiplayer FPS drawing inspiration from GoldenEye and Perfect Dark. Dark Data isn't perfect, and it sadly seems like it won't get its intended campaign and additional content after all, but it's a fun experience alone or with friends. Bot support, character customization, a good variety of maps, and a catchy soundtrack give it plenty of replayability. The guns and characters all have a cyberpunk theme, particularly leaning on the ridiculous but endearing parts of 80s and 90s sci-fi movies. The bots have configurable difficulties and can give you a serious run for your money when played solo. I would recommend it if you want a fun multiplayer FPS with bot support, but if you're looking for a campaign or an online mode (aside from Parsec), I would skip it.
Even though this game is still early in dev, it is just awesome. It brings back lots of memories from the old days when games were actually good. Can't wait to see it grow more

GREAT GAME! Reminds me of so many awesome N64 games. I suggest everyone pick this up, it is really a lot of fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1D-PlKEg9o
There is not presently a huge amount of content here, but it does what is says on the tin really well. If you're interested in playing a game like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye, here's your game. It's a delight to play and the weapons feel pretty solid. I think this is probably the closest a game like this has been to feeling authentic. It looks and plays a hell of a lot like a N64 shooter and I love it. The aesthetic is probably the best part. I do think that price tag is a little high for the current content. 11 maps for 20 bucks isn't ideal. Still, by looking at this you can probably tell if you'd like it. I find it an easy recommend.
