A blob that should have never left space. Story: You play as a small blob who is supposed to help the defenders of the multiverse stop an evil force from taking over. Yeah that's about all there is. The story is actually just not very interesting, simply because it just makes no sense. There are times where the game just sort of stops and puts up a wall of text as an update. Also there's choices that affect the outcome of the story and genuinely the only real choice that matters is the final one that ends up giving you a different ending and all the other ones, just sort of give you different achievements, that's really all there is to it. Graphics: Visually Blob from Space looks like it was slapped up together in MS paint. It just looks horrible. Levels look visually ugly, there's tons of clone enemies that don't look interesting and animations look kind of laggy and very choppy. Also the levels look really messy and since they're pretty big, you can get lost in certain levels. Audio: The soundtrack is really bland and every track that is used throughout the game just constantly loops and it wouldn't be as bad if the soundtrack was actually catchy or actually good, but all of it sounds like stock free soundtrack someone just quickly ripped off the internet. There's not much in other audio design. There are a few sound effects like collecting items, but that's about it. It's not bad, but nothing really good either about it either, just sounds cheap which I guess goes with everything else the game has on display. Gameplay: Blob From Space is a 2D Platformer where your main goal is to reach the end of the level all while avoiding enemies and collecting items like gems, diamonds and hats, but none of that really matters, the end of the level is the only goal that really matters. Before I begin I have to give a warning right away. The game was in early access and was in development for years and I finally decided to check it out once I saw it had left EA, however the developers just removed the EA tag and released the game without any further updates. It's only the tutorial planet, out of the four planned planets. Blob From Space is a horrible game and honestly it's incredibly unfun to play. It boils down to horrible controls and absolutely atrocious level design. The blob controls incredibly stiff and since certain jumps are super tight, you can easily overshoot and land on an enemy or undershoot and drop off the map. Also the camera doesn't properly follows you, so with massive levels you sometimes seemingly come up to a dead end, when in reality to advance you have to make a really tight leap of faith and this is not a one time thing, it's happens multiple times in the tutorial planet and once you lose all your lives, you simply have to go back to the beginning of the planet. The settings also don't work, basically the only two features that work is play game and quit, everything else just sort of does nothing, which is just the icing on the cake of this games horrible design and speaking of horrible design I'll end off on the horrible transformation mechanic. You encounter enemies like a flying one and you can rip it's power and give yourself it's powers. A cool feature yes, but it makes controlling the game even harder for some reason and it also makes you a much easier target considering you move slower and become a bigger target to be taken out by enemies meaning back to the beginning with you. Verdict: Blob From Space is a horrendous game. Don't let the cheap price deceive you, this game is an unfinished mess and is absolutely not worth playing or even buying. Stay away from this game at all costs. Final Rating: 1/10 Pros: N/A Cons: - Horrible gameplay - Awful sound design - Was left unfinished - Level design is too big and has tons of faith based jumps - Story is a generic mess If you liked this review please consider joining https://steamcommunity.com/groups/completingthebacklog and https://steamcommunity.com/groups/ImperialReviews
Blob From Space is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. The game was copy + pasted using stock tilesets and a platformer template. And if you're wondering, of course the "developer" didn't credit the people who made the tilesets or the game engine, instead preferring to claim their work as his own. It's garbage as far as platformers go. While the game does use the stock GameMaker platforming engine, so controls are tight enough, they're not perfect. Level design is sloppy and uninteresting, and the gameplay is the same old tired dead gameplay we can expect from the obsolete, dead 2D platformer genre (although there's a "cloning" gimmick, it's used poorly and adds little to a bland, overdone experience with no value for gamers). From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Blob From Space has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for completing the tutorial, trivial to do, but less than 5 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 5 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. Blob From Space is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
