About

DaemonClaw takes things back to classic fast action arcade gaming, with frantic combat against non-stop swarms of enemies and sophisticated boss fights and without puzzles, backtracking, or grinding.
After some practice, a player can battle from the beginning through to the dramatic final boss fight and gratifying ultimate victory in each sitting.
Each time you play, mix things up with three difficulty settings, a sophisticated scoring system, additional play modes such as Survival and Boss Rush, with a second playable character with a unique playstyle.
Mix things up even more with Tag Team Mode, where one or two players can swap who’s playing at any point during the battle to save mankind!
WHY EARLY ACCESS?
Right now DaemonClaw includes the complete Mega Drive / Genesis version and the work in progress modern version, and once it’s ready, you’ll also be able to play the Neo Geo version. Over the course of many frequent updates, DaemonClaw's modern and Neo Geo versions will be finished, and (with the help of your valued feedback) highly polished.
Please remember, at this time, the modern version is in early access and should only be played to track its progress or provide feedback and bug reports to help us make DaemonClaw as fun and high quality as possible.
Currently, the modern version has cheats for easy testing:
- regain full health by pressing the H key on your keyboard or the left shoulder button
- spawn a magic power-up by pressing the M key on your keyboard or the right shoulder button.
- at the title screen , press the number keys ranging from one to 5 to skip immediately to that respective level
- hold shift while pressing the number keys to skip directly to the respective boss fights
“Currently the Early Access version offers the full Megadrive version of DaemonClaw and the incomplete work in progress Modern version. The Megadrive version let's you play single player or tag-team mode with two different selectable characters, has the core arcade mode, and also let's you plat boss-rush mode and survival mode. The WIP Modern version currently lets you play the arcade mode all the way through, but with some bugs, and no difficulty settings or other play modes have been added yet, nor has the second playable character. At its current speed of development, we plan to add the work in progress Neo Geo version in a matter of months.”

With the magic gauntlet DaemonClaw, which takes unique forms and gives you powers best suited for the foes you face, you're humanity's last hope.
Bash your way through an array of distinct landscapes, through swarms of unique enemies with your magically enhanced abilities which adapt to the strengths and weaknesses of the enemies you face in each level.

DaemonClaw is finished for Mega Drive, a playable WIP for Modern platforms, and the Neo Geo version will be added in the not too distant future. With this Steam edition, you'll get to play all three. (once the Neo Geo version is ready for us to add).

Each version of DaemonClaw will have a unique second playable hero. The second selectable character for the Mega Drive version is Gareth from Demons of Asteborg!

A sudden coordinated attack by the varied mystical Zverkin armies has thrown the once peaceful world of Nnar into chaos. You've been chosen as mankind's best hope for survival and given a powerful magical artifact, called DaemonClaw, to aid you in your quest.

You must traverse the lands of Nnar, through many distinct environments, battling a new cast of foes in every land, confront the powerful leader of each Zverkin army, and find a way to end this onslaught.
Can you survive long enough to bring peace back to your world and uncover what machinations led to this organized onslaught against all the towns of humankind?

Hone and test your skills as the deceptively agile Elrik Eisenfaust. While you can always count on your basic move set for fast evasion and powerful physical attacks, you must also learn to utilize the incredible power of your magic gauntlet, DaemonClaw, which takes on a new form in each land, giving you new magical abilities best suited to vanquish the new foes you face.
Experienced players can discover and master the nuanced elements to the combat. For example, there are many ways to deal with the boomerang blades thrown by the Adleraki (bird-people) of level 1:
While taking place in an epic fantasy world, the intriguing plot unfolds fluidly during the action and level transitions. Like the classic arcade style games of the past, DaemonClaw is intended to be an adrenalin-fueled blast. There's no grinding for experience points or health upgrades in DaemonClaw and no backtracking to find additional items. Bosses become easier to beat as you build your actual skill playing the game.
The goal of DaemonClaw's game design is non-stop fun and great replay value as a result. The kind of game you'll want to play again even though you just beat it earlier that same day.

These are the first two bosses you'll encounter in DaemonClaw. You'll have to face many others during your quest.

While each level constantly keeps you on your toes with a never ending onslaught of basic enemies, the end of each level is where you'll face off with the most formidable leader of that land, and to make matters worse, they each control powerful magical artifacts, or, in some cases, maybe the artifact controls them...

Game is Fun! Difficult, but not unfair. Simple, but has enough nuance to make it interesting. Not a long game but it will take multiple attempts to beat (took me about 8 hours to clear for the first time). The game is not ground breaking its doing what it does well! Would recommend if you are interested from the trailer. I was worried you wouldn't be able to play the game on the PC with how they were describing the different versions but it runs fine on PC!
Awesome old school game for the Sega Genesis. Well worth the $10.
This is a fun, challenging, but fair modern SEGA Genesis game. Looking for new authentic 16-Bit experience, look no further. With a small workaround, the game works on the Deck and desktop Linux! Two ways. 1) Force the Proton version to be Hotfix and select the Mega Drive version at the start screen. 2) Add the Mega Drive version as a non-Steam game, use Hotfix. Thanks for getting this to work. I am going to buy BitBeamCannon's next game Metal Mack!
Si te gustan los juegos retro de las consolas de sega megadrive, este juego es muy entretenido y representa bien aquella epoca de la megadrive.
i dunno how to rate this game right now. It is a okayish game. Is it worth 10 EUR ? No, i mean it is fun for a few moments, the graphic looks good. But the overall balancing is not good. SO no i dont recommend it. Currently only the Megadrive version works...PC and Neo Geo are currently not good playable. To give some examples: It starts with the training option. There is a trainign where you need to dodge and role to an opponent. But out of 10 tries 11 fail (the number is correct ;) ). You just stand still the enemy approaches you and then you role at him BUT you hit him! And then the dodge training starts new because you shoul dodge him without hitting him but to achieve it you have to go back when he starts throwing the dagger at you, face him again and dodge ... the dodge animation is to long... And so is the game as well. The first version was fast respawning birds from ront and back wich start to attack you at the same time when some enemies are lurking at you. So i got constantly hit and did not even reach the first boss. I achieved to reach the boss eagle but i dont have any clue how to beat him... This boss has some pattterns... Throwing his cutlass Stabbing with his cutlass Pushing with his shield Flying above and then crashing down (there is a shadow which is seen but the time is not enough when you see the shadow a milisecond later it crashes down so probably dodge could help didnt try this) Some are dodgeable some not... So i did not see the most level of this game... I will revisit it after some month... perhaps with some balancing applied it will then work...
Really fun game with a lot of love being put into it by the developer which afaik is a one-man show. Keeping that in mind it's a pretty impressive and a totally worth-to-buy work-in-progress right now. So nice to have the possibility to play the game on multiple platforms too, this is what I call real retro game development enthusiasm. Please keep up the outstanding project as retro games like this are the real reason why gaming is not totally dead yet, at least to people like me who try to support projects like this whenever possible because they are the most beautiful answer to triple-A games I do not care about.
