A little classic platformer that scratches an itch but doesn't do anything remarkable. Plus a bug that forces you to erase all your progress. Your knight moves over a map and selects nodes in a linear path. Each stage plays like any other classic platformer. The only objective is to reach the end door while jumping over threats and killing enemies by throwing weapons at them. Another ability the knight is very good at is wall jumping. If you're playing with a gamepad, you can take advantage of a bug that allows you to climb up any wall. What’s not so great about the protagonist is that a single hit will kill him. You get three chances per stage; lose them all and you’ll have to restart the stage. There’s almost no backtracking except for a few stages with transparent platforms that turn solid once you find a switch in a hidden stage on the main map. Later you start seeing blue gems that allow you to jump again. They don't always work and are unreliable. What makes this even more frustrating is that they’re placed right above spikes. Each main stage has three stars if you like to collect things. They are usually right out in the open, but sometimes you’ll have to jump into walls in hopes of finding a secret room. Most walls looks very ordinary so you will have to be very thorough. Coins don’t matter and only increase your score. The same goes for time that is included for fans of speedrunning. Occasionally there will be a key stashed somewhere on the stage. The key opens a secondary exit that leads to a bonus stage on the map where you might find a lot of coins or a weapon to replace your starting knife. The fireball is the only weapon that can defeat ghosts, while the axe is the strongest. You also lose the weapon if you lose all three lives. This forces you to return to an earlier stage where you must search for the better weapon once more. The environment is basic and repetitive. There was this strange feeling that I’ve already seen them in another game. You’ll travel through caves, rocky floors, snowy ground, etc. There are no unique details or objects in any of the stages. Even the enemies don’t change. You’ll be seeing the same bats and zombies throughout the game. A boss awaits after four stages. And once again they show up as generic jumping slime, ghost chasing you around, bat shooting fireballs… They are laughably easy if you bring an axe to the fight. A bug that prevented me from continuing the game is what led me to give it a negative review. It happens when you go back and enter a map section with a cave. When you push the action button, the knight becomes trapped between the castle and the exit, I am unable to move, and a blank screen appears. And because the game auto-saves on a single save, I had to restart the game and erase my entire progress. Achievements are earned as you play the game. The only missable is for completing the game without dying. The achievement for collecting all stars is broken; I had to restart and finish the game in one go to finally get the achievement.
I like this game. However, there were times where I was like, "That jump should have been made." Controls are a little bit stiff but numerous checkpoints. No real story to be had.
I saved my Princess!!!
Joguinho de plataforma bem legalzinho. Ele tem alguns problemas como o pulo que as vezes é difícil de usar com precisão, mas acho que para um jogo de 7 reais no preço base ele atende muito bem as expectativas.
Great game! The opponents are good and well placed. The bosses are awesome! The platforming is kind of modest, but cheerful. I liked it, thank you!
