Let's get this out of the way first: It is absolutely a spiritual clone of the 1994 cult classic, "Quarantine". I'd even go so far as to say I hope these folk don't get sued by the current owner of the IP, since small details like naming the malls "Lumpy Malls" make it pretty clear this was a straight remake of the game. That said, it uses no assets of the originals as far as I can tell, so hopefully they're in the legal clear, or at least in a gray enough area to not get sued into oblivion, because remake or not, it's pretty darn good. I had some issues early on with the game not detecting my wireless x/s/one controller, but plugging in a wired controller took care of that for me (I have some hand and finger damage which makes keyboard gaming difficult and sometimes impossible, so I very heavily rely on controller support. If that's not an issue for you, the keyboard controls here were very nice). Once that was settled, though, I got to actually play, and so far I have had a great time. Overall, I would cautiously recommend, and I'd be interested to see where these designers go.
Cyber Taxi is an arcade style game set in the future and is a game about driving around an armoured taxi in the confines of a small city avoiding various dangers whilst earning cash. The city is dark, gritty and violent with lots of things out to kill you. Earning money allows upgrades to your taxis weapons and armour to then enable you to survive better or do harder missions. There isn't really much story or roleplay, this is a pick up and play type game - its about getting further than last time or getting a better score than before. Crazy Taxi is essentially a modernized version of an old MS DOS game called Quarantine. If you're buying this game and expecting entirely new Quarantine game with new mechanics or a larger open-world map, you will be disappointed. This is not Quarantine III, its more like the first game and it doesn't have the map and story Quarantine II had. The game stays true to the feel and gameplay of the original 1990s game but benefits from more modern graphics (though basic), a save feature, and various QoL improvements that make it more enjoyable to play. It genuinely feels like something the original developers could have created as a remake. It retains the style of the MS DOS game. The game is played from the seat of the taxi in first person perspective you never leave your car. I did find it fun as I liked the original and for under £10 it's fine. Its probably something I'll play every now and again to kill 15-20 minutes.
Looks like someone was trying to make mix between Carmageddon and first person driving game set in cyberpunk setting. I bought this one and what did I get? Stuck at loading screen for a few minutes. Visuals are lacking some decent textures. Gameplay is all about driving across the city, picking up people and escorting them to specific point on the map just like regular taxi driver do. In the meantime other cars are trying to kill you. Gameplay is a bit shallow and as soon as you start playing realization come to mind - you're about to repeat same thing over and over. Upgrade car and buy weapons to get the edge. No controller support. Pretty much bad game. Super angry mode activated!
It has all the problems Quarantine had, but does allow for saves. Is it the better version? I'll let Quarantine fans decide.
an average day as an uber driver on lsd
CyberTaxi is a handheld (Nintendo Switch)/console game that's also been put on Steam as a bit of an afterthought, as it's very much designed for the handheld/console gaming audience. It is, as others have noted, very much a ripoff of an earlier game called Quarantine, with the same premise. And if you don't know what that is, it's a bit like the even earlier Carmageddon game. And if you don't know what that is, it's a game where you drive around and kill as many people as you can with some over the top gore. The idea is that you're a taxi driver in a post-apocalypse/distopian future and you drive fares and kill a lot of guys who just try to kill you as you drive around, because reasons. Very much the same plot as Quarantine. There's a lot of issues with this console port in terms of controls, but really, besides the okayish graphics, the chief problem is this game format is just too old and busted. It doesn't "work" as a reasonable game format... maybe they could have made this more of a third person perspective, but then we're getting into GTA territory (and this game costs more than some older GTA games!!!) From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. In a sheer insult to PC gamers, the developer has locked out keyboard and mouse controls on this game if you have any peripherals attached (HOTAS, etc). This is simply unacceptable, developers must never dictate to gamers how a game is to be consumed. A HOTAS is not the same thing as a console peasant children's toy game controller. Because this is designed for handheld/portable gaming appliances, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the low power handheld gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the mobile game developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for low power handhelds forces upon a game. While this might run well on a Steam Deck, we must remember the vast majority of gamers here are gaming on PC. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 6 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 110,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 110,000+ games on Steam? CyberTaxi has the completely unrealistic cash grab price of $10 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you games like "Final Fantasy XIV Online", "Doom Eternal" or "Disco Elysium". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
kolejna tragedia doceniam że stworzona przez jedną osobę, ale nie moge polecić giereczki niestety
A fun and chaotic taxi driving game. For the price of the game I say it's worth it. A silly experience.
I like where this is going, although it does seem like it's lacking a lot in content. Still, I think fans of Quarantine will enjoy this game for a while.
Great little game. It does freeze alot on steam deck even on low witch is strange as other games with higher graphics work very well. hope a update can fix the freezing alot as i enjoy this alot
