A boss battle shooter with enjoyably weird retro graphics, but a couple things make me not recommend this: Very hard to track the bullets from the background, which is something that's absolutely essential for any good shmup. I also just don't like boss battle-only shooters. No score, no various enemies to mow down while working up to the boss, everything in the game is you vs. boss. Could have been so much better with standard shmup level design. 6/10
Cyber Seraph a retro styled Shoot "Em Up.
The developer mentioned that he was going to release another game, and we began discussing things, which lead me to make some small recommendations. I was then asked me to check out the demo, of which I did. Got a beta key shortly before the actual release, only to have said developer want to watch my broadcast as I played the first few missions. Sheesh, the pressure was on, and my morning tea wasn't even finished, it also wasn't my best performance, eventually getting stuck on the Conqueror after a small snack break; I came back to it a few days later and wrapped it up, only to post this review.

15 boss fights, 13 in campaign, 2 as bonus in menu.
Fights are about memorising attack patterns as with a lot of Shoot 'Em Up's.
12 of the campaign bosses have 3 power capsules for upgrades if you can catch them.
Upgrades include shields, a temporary barrier, better speed, some different missiles and 3 levels to those upgrades. Other than the speed upgrade all are one shot use per battle. The barrier and shields were what i found necessary to complete the game.
2 save spots, in case you want to restart and try another upgrade, or maybe you missed a power drop.
Lacks Steam Cards at the moment.
[strike]Lacked a demo;[/strike] Released a demo.
[strike]The health icon was hard to distinguish from stars in demo;[/strike] Changed icon to Hearts.
[strike]Lacked achievements;[/strike] Added achievements for defeating 15 bosses.
Interesting upgrades, good difficulty scaling, fantastic music, and a decent story. The bosses are unique in art and patterns, and the playstyle is satisfying, especially when mastered. Even though I received it for free to do some testing, I still bought it for a friend to show my support. Overall a really fun shmup that's more than worth the price. Would definitely recommend!
Would highly recommend this game for anyone that loves Boss Rush Style Bullet Hell/Rail Gunner games! The fights are evenly matched, and upgrades give you some advantage over the bosses! I had a blast playing the game, and you will too! The artwork is excellent, EGA style dithered backdrops, VGA sprites for the bosses and Seraph ship. The soundtrack is great too! Helps to focus the player on the task at hand!
Cyber Seraph is a short and sweet boss rush shmup that seems tame at first, but quickly evolves into a challenging shooter. Each boss's bullet patterns progressively become more and more complex as the player traverses through the game to the point where you have to play near perfect in order to progress. After defeating each boss, the player is rewarded with a few points to spend on upgrades (ie. speed boost, an assortment of missiles, drones to increase fire power, and a shield that gives the player a few extra hits). Overall this game is a ton of fun and was a really enjoyable challenge. I would love to see this same style applied to a classic level-based formula with enemies and all!
Fun little boss rush shooter. Not too difficult. Can't go wrong if this is your jam.
Cyber Seraph is a retro-inspired vertical shoot ’em up developed and published by Cosmic Void that delivers an intense arcade-style experience built around relentless boss encounters, fast reflexes, and classic bullet-dodging gameplay. Inspired heavily by old-school arcade shooters from the 16-bit and arcade eras, the game strips the genre down to its most exciting elements by focusing almost entirely on massive battles against heavily armed alien machines. Rather than guiding players through lengthy stages filled with weaker enemies, Cyber Seraph throws them directly into high-pressure confrontations where survival depends on precision, memorization, and constant movement. The game takes place in a dark science-fiction future where humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction after an overwhelming alien invasion devastates Earth. Civilization has collapsed, military defenses have failed, and the final hope for survival rests on a lone pilot piloting an experimental combat craft against impossible odds. The story itself remains relatively simple and mostly functions as a setup for the action, but its bleak atmosphere fits perfectly with the game’s fast-paced arcade design. Cyber Seraph never slows down with lengthy storytelling or cinematic distractions, choosing instead to keep players focused entirely on combat and survival. One of the game’s most distinctive features is its boss-centered structure. Instead of fighting endless waves of smaller enemies, players are rapidly introduced to gigantic alien warships, mechanical monstrosities, and deadly enemy commanders that dominate the screen with aggressive attack patterns and overwhelming firepower. Every encounter feels unique because each boss introduces new mechanics, movement styles, and projectile patterns that force players to adapt quickly. Some enemies rely on dense bullet spreads while others attack with lasers, missiles, or large environmental hazards that dramatically alter the flow of combat. The gameplay itself remains faithful to traditional arcade shooters while still feeling accessible to modern players. Controls are smooth and responsive, allowing precise movement during the most chaotic moments. Success depends heavily on learning enemy behavior, positioning carefully, and reacting instantly to incoming attacks. The game rewards patience and pattern recognition rather than random aggression, creating the kind of tense and satisfying gameplay loop that fans of classic shoot ’em ups appreciate. Later encounters become extremely demanding, but failures rarely feel unfair because every defeat usually teaches players something new about the boss patterns and timing systems. Another major strength of Cyber Seraph is its progression system. During combat, players collect chips dropped by defeated enemies and damaged bosses, which can later be used to unlock permanent upgrades and special abilities. These upgrades gradually transform the player’s ship into a much more powerful weapon, providing offensive and defensive advantages that help during increasingly difficult encounters. The game includes multiple upgrade paths and several unlockable abilities, encouraging experimentation and replayability as players search for combinations that best fit their preferred playstyle. This upgrade structure adds an important sense of progression that separates Cyber Seraph from many traditional arcade shooters. While skill and reflexes remain essential, the permanent upgrades create a rewarding feeling of long-term advancement that motivates players to continue improving even after repeated failures. Returning to earlier encounters with enhanced abilities and greater experience creates a satisfying sense of mastery as once-overwhelming bosses become more manageable through both player skill and upgraded equipment. Visually, Cyber Seraph embraces a detailed pixel-art presentation inspired by classic arcade shooters and retro science-fiction aesthetics. Enemy ships and bosses are especially impressive because of their large scale, mechanical detail, and aggressive attack animations. Explosions, lasers, and projectile effects fill the screen during combat without becoming too visually confusing, maintaining clarity even during the game’s most chaotic moments. The retro-inspired visuals fit the gameplay perfectly and help create a strong nostalgic atmosphere without feeling outdated. The soundtrack is another highlight of the experience. Fast-paced electronic music drives the action forward with energetic rhythms and arcade-inspired intensity that perfectly match the game’s nonstop combat. Boss battles feel significantly more exciting thanks to the aggressive soundtrack, which constantly reinforces the pressure and adrenaline of surviving against impossible odds. Combined with explosive sound effects and satisfying weapon audio, the music helps create an atmosphere that feels authentic to classic arcade shooters while still sounding modern and polished. Replayability is also one of the game’s strengths. Unlockable upgrades, achievements, and the challenge of mastering every encounter encourage players to revisit the game repeatedly. Many boss fights demand multiple attempts before their attack patterns become fully understood, and the gradual improvement of player skill becomes one of the most rewarding aspects of the experience. The game’s relatively short structure actually works in its favor because it encourages replayability rather than overstaying its welcome. However, Cyber Seraph is not without flaws. Its heavy emphasis on boss fights means that players looking for varied level exploration or deep storytelling may find the overall structure somewhat limited. The game remains focused almost entirely on combat, and the lack of larger stage variety can make the experience feel narrow in scope compared to larger shoot ’em up titles. Difficulty spikes during later encounters can also become extremely intense, especially for newcomers unfamiliar with bullet-heavy arcade shooters. Certain bosses require near-perfect positioning and fast reflexes, which may frustrate players not accustomed to demanding arcade gameplay. Despite these shortcomings, Cyber Seraph succeeds remarkably well as a focused and highly polished arcade shooter. It captures the challenge, speed, and excitement of classic vertical shooters while modernizing the formula through progression systems and refined presentation. The boss-focused gameplay structure keeps the pacing consistently intense, and the upgrade mechanics provide enough long-term progression to make repeated playthroughs rewarding rather than repetitive. For fans of retro shoot ’em ups, difficult arcade challenges, and fast-paced science-fiction combat, Cyber Seraph delivers an energetic and highly satisfying experience filled with explosive battles and nostalgic arcade spirit. Its combination of stylish pixel art, memorable electronic music, rewarding progression systems, and intense boss encounters creates a strong tribute to the golden age of arcade shooters while still feeling polished enough for modern audiences. Rating: 8/10
Lembrou um jogo da minha infância, mt bom e bem desafiador
This is a pretty fun game but I would love to see the developer tackle a "traditional" shoot em up that is not boss focused. :)
A tough-as-nails, retro shmup, with an emphasis upgrades and boss pattern memorization. Really liked the pixelated boss designs and stage background. If you have some good reflexes, then I would recommend this cool bullet hell shooter!
