About
Short on time? Cult Vacui is the perfect moody afternoon game - most players finish in around 2-3 hours.
Cult Vacui is a point & click with survival horror elements,
set in the late 19th century on the remote island of Barra in Scotland.
We play an unsuspecting janitor who has been given a job opportunity to maintain the Gladstone family's summer estate.
What we discover is that the day before we arrived, a gruesome blood ritual was performed on the island's population at the hands of a creepy cult.
Our arrival has ruined the ritual, which can only be considered concluded if every person in the perimeter of the island is eliminated.
Apparently we are their last obstacle... at least that is what we believe.
We have a few hours to prepare for the last act of their insane ritual; we must prepare a strategy to defend ourselves and (hopefully) survive.
In Cult Vacui, every choice counts, every action we take takes time that will fall short of the final act countdown, find the right strategy to maximize your efforts (even across multiple game sessions).
Logical but challenging puzzles, apply the right solving strategy without getting frustrated
your every action consumes time, in a countdown to the final act
creepy horror atmosphere
multiple endings based on your game choices
Pixel art graphics handmade and thought by a real human being
Engaging and original soundtrack composed by Ascari, a musician also credited in film
Average playtime 2 hours

It's too short. Main puzzle is good, but the rest feels lacking.
Great mechanic, really enjoying it! Love the pixelart and the overall atmosphere
Amazingly fun game to play in an afternoon. Story is intriguing and pulls you into it. The puzzles while made me pause were never frustrating or annoying by any means. I'd love to see a follow up within the same world and style.
Cult Vacui is a great pixel art point and click with an interesting timer system and multiple possible outcomes
A nice and short point-and-click game that'll take up 2-3 hours of your time. The game borrows the time management system from the Don't Escape games (mainly Don't Escape 2) where some impending danger is coming, and you only have a limited amount of time to prepare for it. Time is essentially a limited resource, but is only "spent" when performing certain actions or traveling between areas. I really enjoy this realistic pixel art style, and this game does it very well. The plot is a simple, but solid cultist horror story with possession and summoning rituals involving powerful malevolent deities. Puzzles are fairly simple and straightforward, which works since the main challenge is managing your time and figuring out the best route to follow. Regarding the dialogue, while nothing is really grammatically incorrect, it does feel a little awkward at times, where you can tell it was translated from another language and touched up afterwards. In addition, there are a few bugs that make navigating the UI or pause menus a little clunky, but ultimately nothing that prevented progress. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my short time with this game. I do wish it was a little longer, but I hope to see more like this from the developers, or possibly even a sequel that dives more into this game's universe.
Don't Escape 2 if it were totally goffik instead of a child of the zombie craze. The art's pretty great, the atmosphere is on point. Really, my only complaint is the length: I want more!
It lovely little game teeming with atmosphere. Its only about 1 to 1.5 hour long but for the price that, to me, is enough.
Best parts: -The art was amazing -The story was compelling -The puzzles were interesting -The dialogue was meaningful -I love spooky cult stories -Your decisions do have impact on outcome (mainly failure or success) and you can see what happens when you miss certain parts of the puzzle and times runs out. "Difficult" Aspects: -Time management is a big deal. Every time you travel is important. If you aren't careful you will be redoing the same part several times. -Autosave does not exist -Sometimes there are glitches which made me have to restart, so don't click esc during cutscenes lol -For some reason I thought inventory spots would be limited to the number of spots on your screen but it has no limit. I kept trying to go back home and set things aside and which wasted my play time limit. (However this is totally user error, it was just an assumption I made based off of other games I have played). I am not saying any of the negative things to deter people from playing this, I really enjoyed it. Once again, beautiful art, compelling story, interesting puzzles. Just some bumps in the road when I played it. Like everyone else I wish there was more and I will be keeping up with the devs to see what else gets put out.
Absolute beast of a dark point and click adventure - really well designed to be tough but not redonkulously hard. Highly recommended and hope there is more to come from these creators.
good game. arts prety solid throughout i cant say anything bad about the visuals. i decided to purchase this game after watching someone play it I DO NOT recommend watching a playthrough or even a single vide of the game. its got a demo that will give you a solid idea of what you are buying for the full game. watching that video probably halved my playtime. Edit: i almost forgot and i think its a very minor thing i did encounter a bug that did fix itself while playing but i do not recommend you bring up the pause menu when talking to someone. the game loops and stutters for a few moments while it figures itself out. nothing terrible and very easily avoided not a deal braker at all. value for money i got just under 90 minutes of playtime i paid 6 bucks for that. movie ticket can be double or triple that depending on the theatre so pure time spend i got a decent chunk for what i paid. and like i said i probably sped through the game very quickly because i was familiar with the dialog from that video i watched. so not knowing dialog and item locations this would be even more bang for your buck and its fun. Its a fun game i was kinda worried it would be hyper strict with what order you must do things in and where you must spend your time. but running it as best i could on a second run i still had like a quarter of my time remaining. so theres definitely some wiggle room to be had there. theres not really that classic point and click bs you might expect from the genre. a few unexpected events but otherwise everything makes at least some sense. honestly if you're looking for just a quick little bite of quality to have fun with this is a good game to do that.
