I keep reinstalling it, I keep trying to play it, and I'm just not enjoying any of the changes.
Unfinished cash grab, even worse than it was in alpha. Never being finished, took the money and ran while pretending he's going to finish it. Sad, hope Veloren can one day become what this should have been.

There's nothing left of what made this game and it honestly just feels like the devs are cashing out again.
...I don't even know where to begin... There is NO balance in this game. The enemies were designed for multiplayer - playing solo you simply can't do anything. You spawn with nothing among creatures that can't be beaten. You have to run. You find a village, you can't buy items. Because you can't kill creatures. So you spend an hour collecting random stuff to sell for 1 gold a piece, to buy the only set of equipment the town has on offer, only to still not be able to beat anything. So you decide to do quests, which requires you to roam around the map, and any time you see a creature you HAVE to RUN. What's even the point of the combat system? If you really want to push yourself, you might spend 20 minutes defeating a single enemy by cheesing the respawn system. And what would be your reward for completing a dark-souls-esk boss fight? 2 gold coins. That's all the enemies every drop. No matter how hard they were. 2 gold. The end. Go buy that 100 gold item that won't make it any easier anyway. Oh, and the best part? If you cross an invisible line between this region and the next, your entire inventory is erased. Because every new region forces you to do the same grind over again - like starting a new game but slightly to the left of where you used to be. Not because the region is different, or harder, or higher level. Its exactly the same. No levels. No progression. Just endless tedium through a randomized, unbalanced world.
someone really should take this over and finish it
I wish this game was like back then. I remember being a kid and seeing my favorite youtuber play it. Now that I can play it myself after holding onto it in my bad laptop for years. I'm disappointed that it lost its character. I'm still gonna play it though, I loved this game then and I'm having fun now.
Unfortunately, the developer abandoned the game twice. Before the first abandonment, the game was quite good despite still being in alpha. Then, in 2019, he returned with a full version update, and oh boy. It's really bad and no fun at all. The biome locking system is strange. Once you've completed everything in one biome and want to explore another, you can no longer use your equipment; you can only use it where you found it in the same biome. Furthermore, you now only receive artifacts as level-ups, which you find in points of interest. These only increase things like climbing, swimming, diving, riding, sailing, and gliding speed, as well as the light radius. These are simply not rewarding because they don't actually provide any real progress. So, for me, it feels like I'm starting a new character with every new biome. For me, it doesn't even have anything to do with exploration anymore, even though it's supposed to be an exploration game. It's a shame he abandoned the game again immediately after its release due to criticism from the community.
How in god's name do you manage to make the full release WORSE than the alpha?!
i would've done anything to get an updated version of the alpha, this is version a far cry from what the alpha had offered.
