About
You play Ethelyn Dax, Galactic Bounty Hunter extraordinaire. Finally settling in for a long-awaited vacation on the resort world of Ctesiphon, the moment is ruined by the surprise arrival of the Black Death mercenary company.

Taking the capital city and every surrounding resort hostage as part of a payment dispute, the mercenaries expected to meet no physical resistance.
Ethelyn would be perfectly content to simply get her money back and leave the resort to sort things out with the mercenaries themselves, but as it turns out the force is led by a shadow from Ethelyn's own past that she can't simply let get away.

The Black Death mercenaries have brought so many troops, clones, drones, and mechs that they expect absolutely no resistance from the resort patrons. You will prove that complacency unfounded.
Take advantage of the mercenaries' inattention with Ethelyn's trusty Data-Spike, perforate them with the versatile Submachinegun, blast them around corners with the Gyrobuster's homing minirockets, or bring out the Jetgun to cut through heavy armor as if it were mere paper.
Ethelyn is highly nimble and can run circles around most enemies who will have to resort to overwhelming force to try and stop you. The game features seven mainline levels built in a non-linear layout allowing you to flank enemies and search for secrets.

Made in bits and pieces over the course of nearly a decade by a single developer on Linux using C/C++, OpenGL, and open-source Quake mapping tools, Ctesiphon's custom engine allows for the game to run reliably on low-spec systems. It's built to withstand large firefights with dozens of enemies, hundreds of blood spatter and bullet impact decals, and piles of giblets and scrap as you blow the enemies apart into clouds of particles and debris.
Ctesiphon has been developed on Linux first and supports virtually all controllers connected to it. On Windows only XInput-compatible controllers are supported natively, but others will work fine with SteamInput enabled. The big exception is for the Steam Deck and Steam Controllers, these won't be natively supported on Linux/SteamOS until after release but in the meantime they should work fine if you play the Windows build by setting compatibility to any version of Proton.

It's fun! Movement feels good, and most guns feel good to shoot (although I didn't really care for the homing launcher), and on higher difficulties you're pushed to make the most of your resources. There are a lot of secrets to find (that's what a lot of my ingame time went into and I still didn't find them all), so if you like exploring levels and looking for ways to get into places that look like you shouldn't be in, you'll probably have a good time. The game's a little bit short, though. I certainly wouldn't mind if the dev released a level pack if he ever wants to revisit to the project, because what's here is a very solid base.
Is this as good as an AAA game? No. Is this as good as leading indie titles? No. Then how is it for a cheap game made by one guy? Good enough. Could be longer, it's more like you're done with episode 1 rather than a whole game. Could use a bit more enemy variety too. The last level is awful. However I want to give the author a positive review, so here it is. It's been fun 5 hours and I paid for it as much as for one fast food serving. Good deal if you ask me.
I have to admit I was really stoked on the demo I played during Next Fest which I didn't realize at the time was nearly half of the game, but the latter levels aren't quite as good as the first half. It's also short at around two hours, so think somewhere along the lines of Perilous Warp's length and consider if that's worth it to you. I don't hold it against it in this case because the game is very replayable. Despite that I think the feel and vibe of the game is great, and what little story there was kept me interested enough. A lot of it really isn't explained, but I mean... it's a boomer shooter. They aren't exactly known for deep narratives. Overall it's a solid albeit short boom shoot that's a refreshing change of pace from most of what we get these days. The combat is fun, the enemies are goofy, the soundtrack is not your usual chugga chug metal or moody atmospheric stuff, and the game as a whole has a certain charm to it that I can't really explain. I'd give it an 8/10 considering the price, but I could see an argument made for around a 7 due to the length.
I finished the game in 116 minutes despite being lost on two levels. All the guns and their alternate fire feel great, sound beefy, they look interesting, fire pretty accurately. The enemies are a bit sluggish and don't really pose any danger. You can simply run away from them and get into a better position most of the time. Might be a different situation on the hardest difficulty. The recommended spec is also no joke, game ran with 600 + fps in 3440x1440. Finally a game that is not another UE5 slop. There are no loading screens either. You click Load save and you are in instantly. Even tho the game is short I would still recommend it because of how well it plays. If you don't like it, you can refund it as you can see, plenty of time.
It's good. I wish there was more; it's quite short and the story is very skeletal even for a boomer shooter, but the gameplay is enjoyable. It's good to play something straightforward every now and then.
Terrific game! If you love retro shooters: buy it!! Please support a great developer!! I'm eager to see a sequel or DLC.
Alright this is a very straightforward short but sweet boomshoot. If you are tired of stuff like Iframe dashes and parrys well good news this doesnt have any. As a matter of fact its got a careful when handling explosives motto rather than a rocket jumping one. The only gimmicky thing about the player kit is the melee weapon dealing more damage when moving forwards and this melee is a punch type move that only hits the center of the cursor so you actually need to aim with it. Also the guns feel good and the game has really consistent hitstun on the weaker enemies which makes the starting smg actually a really useful weapon most of the time despite its low damage and the way recoil throws the aim around. But ill say the alt fires for a few of these are kinda weaksauce like every time I right clicked with the shotgun I really should have left clicked.. And as the other reviews have pointed out these enemies are absolutely dumb. They get stuck in doors and stop and shoot like they have tank controls and even turn really slow making every enemy by themselves cheeseable by circle straifing em at close range. And on a depressing note the final bosses AI broke like 75% through its life but even without that it was a kinda boring fight. However to not end this on a negative note ill say all the visuals where actually great and gave zero readablity issues, the story was the right kind of cheesy and it was straight to the point without getting in the way of the gameplay while also sprinkling in some humor, the lack of a glory kill style gimmick made getting hit really matter. overall ill say this is a very refreshing 7/10 and id love to see a sequel or something This was a good time.
ENGLISH A quick, entertaining experience set in a sci-fi environment where you battle robots, drones, tanks, and soldiers on a tropical island. The levels are generally straightforward—with the exception of the offshore platform, which can be a real headache, and the final boss, who demands a good deal of patience. The aesthetic has an anime-like quality, there are some amusing moments involving radio transmissions, and the arsenal is varied and satisfying enough to make you want to try out every new weapon you acquire. It falls just short of excellence, but it succeeds admirably as a retro-style shooter.
Nice little shooter. It's not high on graphical fidelity, it's not long, it's not spectacular, but it's fun. Pretty good fun actually. It kinda focuses on what makes a boomer shooter good and skips the rest. You don't have a AAA guy creaking some leather while you run, put blinders on you, talk to you all the time, flashing you often and screaming "IMMERSION!" at you. And I don't miss that guy. Now what the game has on offer are a couple of well designed levels, and while it is still a shooter, half the fun is finding all the secrets... and often it's way easier to find ways to go out of bounds or out of sequence than finding the actual and on occasion supposed secrets. There are also a lot of spots where you'd expect a secret and there is none. That egghunt is certainly a guilty please. So, yeah, it's imperfect good fun with little to complain about.
