Imo the best Crysis game, I quite like Alcatraz and the greater plot of this game. New York is fun to play through, enemies are great, guns are great, its kinda just Crysis but linear and personally better
Back in the day, buying Crysis wasn't just buying a game, it was benchmarking your entire PC. You didn't ask how many frames you were getting; you asked whether your computer had made peace with its creator. The phrase "Can it run Crysis?" became a legend for a reason. It wasn't a question, it was a challenge. Entire gaming PCs were judged by their ability to survive the opening level without sounding like they were trying to taxi down a runway. This being said, the Crysis trilogy is one of my favorite FPS series ever made. Every game brings something different to the table, and even years later they're still a blast to play. The Nanosuit is still one of the coolest mechanics in any shooter. Switching between armor mode and cloak on the fly makes every fight feel like you're a one-person special forces army with a science-fiction budget that definitely exceeded Congress's approval. Every encounter gives you the freedom to go in guns blazing, sneak around like Predator, or accidentally forget you're not cloaked and sprint straight into a squad of enemies anyway. Crysis 2's destroyed New York is an awesome setting, the first game's tropical island still looks incredible, and Crysis 3 wraps everything up with some genuinely fun gameplay, even if it's my least favorite of the three. After all these years, the games are still genuinely fun and not just famous because they melted graphics cards. The trilogy has fantastic gunplay, beautiful environments, and enough freedom in combat to make every firefight feel different. " Ask not if your PC can run Crysis, Ask if your PC can run Crysis well". - Some dumbass
If you migrated to PC either during after the PS3 and Xbox 360 era then this is a game that you'll most likely have played on console and it still holds even after all the time that has passed. The core premise is simple and is set after the events of the original game. Aliens have come to town and its up to you to stop them using your Nano Suit. Along the way you'll meet characters that help flesh out bits as to what is gong on and what you need to do. While not memorable in any sort of meaningful way this game still hits the beats in gameplay. Speaking of gameplay if you've played the non-remastered or any of its sequels this should feel familiar. The controls are all simple and easy for those that perfer a controller to play. All while keeping the gameplay fresh. Lots of variety in terms of guns and ways to approach things. Speaking of which this time around Stealth is a viable option as opposed to Crysis 1. While sometimes though the game ditches this in favor of a more offensive approach. You can also customize your suits abilities and collecting nano cataylist to help build up points that you can spend to unlock enhancements. Unfortunatly though there is no new game+ once you've beaten the game. Which means you have no way to carry unused points over to a new game on higher difficulty or just become more of a super solider then you already are here. Now in terms of remastering this is the same game it was back then but just with a new coat of paint in sense. Yes there have been graphical tweaks and some updates to help make the game look better accross the board. At the same time though this game still plays the same as it did back in its original form. Which means that all the good and bad bits are still present. So keep that in mind. So should you buy it? For me the answer is yes but wait for a sale. Yes the remastered version IS the one to get but at the same time it hasn't changed in terms overall length and such. Still the same game as it was back then but with a new coat of paint.
