An insane amount of filler that bogs down what's probably a decent game. The puzzles and challenges aren't hard but traversing the world is incredibly tedious because of the elevation mechanic in a 2D game and having to run through the same exact path 50 times to collect chests, complete quests, and progress forward in the world. There are multiple instances in the first few hours of gameplay where you need to run through the same 2-3 minute long path to collect a chest, kill some enemies or plants for quest/crafting items, and reach a new zone because the path has mutually exclusive jump off points that don't allow you to get back up and continue. So you need to loop back (sometimes in a different zone altogether) and make the run back. If you miss a jump because you couldn't tell which of the 5+ elevations you were on, then have fun running the same long path yet again to get back to where you fell off. I really enjoyed the Alabaster Dawn demo and figured I would try the studio's first game while I waited for Alabaster Dawn to finish early access. But man, I don't think I have the patience for something this boring. Your character has zero agency and doesn't even talk. I got filtered by the boredom. I feel like this game would have been more interesting if the main character spoke and the world was more straight forward. Just let me fight some bosses. Literally the only fun part of this game...
最大的败笔就是解密,刻意刁难人,就算想到正确解法也解不开,时机难以把握,窗口期极短,掐着表也大概率找不准的那种。
Great game, gameplay and movement feel smooth, art is pretty, music is pleasant. combat and puzzles are challenges by default, you can make it easier through a menu setting. As challenges, you do have to think through how to complete them. For some of the harder fights, you gotta abuse your entire toolkit, mindlessly mashing melee attacks won't do. For the harder puzzles, it's definitely more difficult than just pushing boxes, it requires thorough processing and sometimes timing. What helps with timing is that you can pause with the menu or freeze time with the shortcut menu, and that there's a menu setting if some puzzles' timings are too tight. Story was pretty nice. Some decision making. I enjoyed it. Combat feels fluid because most of your actions can be cancelled into other actions. Highly recommend taking some time and figuring out what's possible. Lots of references, easter eggs, and secrets in the game make it fun to explore. Only minor issue was with performance in some DLC areas. At random times, when my character was in a DLC area, and used a level 2 or 3 combat art, the game would massively slow down while some of the visual effects were going off. It also applied to some enemy attack effects. When I started up my game, it would randomly decide if this bug would happen to my current play session. Devs recommend switching to a different game version, the old_nwjs branch or whatever it's called. This worked for me.
probably the most I have ever cried at a game. Lea is one of my favorite protagonists of all time and brings so much to the story while saying so little
HI!, .... Hi? ...=) Hi Hi Hi Hi. Leah. Hi. =/ I waited to give this game my honest review, and it's good... just let me explain "Why?"! I never would have dreamed a game could convey so much with so small a vocabulary. honestly this game has THE best dialogue in any game in many years. Usually i'll skip through whatever bblah blah cutscenes and bullcrap storylines... not here the dialogue just seems so natural and so real, i find myself actually caring what the characters are saying.... wondering how that friend is doing.... all that... Sometimes my teammate will talk about their life mid battle and i find myself retreating so i can see what they said? WTF? what magic is this?! Sadly right now i'm stuck right now on the last puzzle in the wind temple and probably won't finish the game, simply because i see the solution to the puzzle but i'm not dexterous enough with a controller to complete it. What will bring me back to try though is the question of what's going to happen to Leah and her friends. if you don't know how to read, or hate reading. then your loss =P
LEA!!
Pretty cool game. I like the expressions, well done. Challenge level's pretty good. Looking forward to the NG stuff.
Bought Alabaster Dawn and saw it was only version 0.1.0. Decided to play this instead while that has time to cook. Boy am I pleasantly surprised so far.
I came into this game thinking it was going to be a ok pixel RPG, Just something to pass some time on nothing serious and oh boy was i wrong. the characters are loveable and so expressive, Lea the mc can only speak a few words but she has so much personality in her actions and expressions, the rest of the cast especially Emilie are amazing as well i loved the way they interacted with lea and how she interacted with them given her limited vocabulary. the gameplay itself is super solid and the game is really challenging i struggled on quite a few boss's and it was super rewarding to beat them. the element system is cool having to switch depending on what resistances and weakness's the opponents had, the puzzles were really challenging and fun as well some insanely hard ones near the end of the game. the DLC was really good as well a must play to see the story to its ultimate conclusion and some really fun and tough fights and puzzle's. overall its a really fun and emotional game that i will be thinking about for a long while and that i will look back on fondly, I would highly recommend playing it i wish i could forget all about it so i could play it agian.
This is just one of those games that kinda just reminds you what this medium should be about, plain old fun in all aspects. First and foremost the gameplay is just great with a really well crafted combat system that actually has quite a lot going on while managing to not be overwhelming and also quite a lot of engaging puzzles which mix together to create a really nice flow of switching between combat and puzzles, making it so that for the most part neither part of the game gets tedious from overdoing it. It would be great and all if that was all there was to it, but the presentation, aka visuals/audio, and the story/characters are also really well put together, with beautiful and varied locales fitted with music that elevates them and all of it wrapped up with a surprisingly serious and captivating story for something that starts off as you just starting to play an in-game mmo. So yea this is an easy recommend if you want something that's kinda similar to the older zeldas or hyper light drifter gameplay wise, but quite a lot bigger in its scope, longer in its runtime and with a pretty gripping narative for what it's worth. Check it out if you can. Bye Lea!
