Cross Set

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Many puzzle games gradually add in new elements making the experience more complex to keep the game engaging and interesting. This game does not do this. The concept is simple, akin to Sudoku in many ways, and once you have played a few levels you know what the remaining levels will be like. Given the price of the game I cant really complain, and I did enjoy the puzzles for a while, but the repetition has put me off buying others in the series.

Fun puzzle game, takes just under 10 hours to complete levels 1-8, there are a few untracked bonus levels. Imagine Sudoku but only a single sub-grid in 4x4 - 9x9 sizes - Easy to understand and interact with, a jolly pleasant old time. While I couldn't fault the game in any way, a few QoL changes would definitely improve the experience; like checking for errors, an undo function, or keyboard control for accessibility (understandably this is now an old game).

Cross Set scratches that Sudoku itch in a fresh way — instead of starting from a blank grid, every cell already shows you which numbers are in play, which gets you into the interesting deductive work faster. The puzzle format is genuinely clever, and the difficulty curve builds naturally through the sets, though I'll admit the larger grids start to feel more like a scanning exercise than a logic puzzle. For $3 you're getting a relaxing, low-pressure brain workout with a surprisingly good soundtrack and a clean minimalist interface. If you enjoy Sudoku, Kakuro, or Picross, this is an easy recommendation at its price point.

A well-made Logic/Puzzle game that reminds the gamer about Sudoku but excluding the boxes inside the puzzle, so you only focus on unique digits up to its dimension (excluding 0 so from 1 to n where n is the number of rows and columns) for each row and column. It might sound easy for a small dimension (4x4-grid net), but as you advance to next level, you'll solve puzzles of higher dimension (9x9 is the largest size for this game). Don't worry as you'll know for each grid in the specific puzzle which digits must contain, so you can always rule out the other digits that possibly can fit in other grids. Simple mechanics like locking grids with suggested digits and shifting the choices of digits each grid can have, helps a lot. Highly recommended if you are into puzzle games and wants to exercise your brain some puzzles. If you're a achievement hunter though, focus on the first eight levels as the upcoming bonus levels won't have achievements and they are fairly trickier than previous levels but doable.
