About
Crisol: Theater of Idols is a gripping survival horror adventure set in the haunting world of Hispania, a nightmarish reimagining of Spain.
Playing as Gabriel, a soldier who can use his own blood as a deadly weapon, you endeavor on a journey to fulfill a divine mission from the Sun God.
Uncover the chilling history and twisted folklore of Tormentosa, a beautiful but malevolent island. Traverse eerie landscapes, crumbling grand ruins, and labyrinthine streets as you peel back the layers of cults and blood sacrifice.
Blood is both your lifeline and your ammunition. Wield this new-found power against terrifying enemies and solve intricate puzzles, but beware: every shot drains your life. Choose wisely—survival hinges on your ability to balance life and death.
Upgrading the powers that leverage the lethality of blood allows you to deal more damage, fight for longer, and gain bonuses in combat. Navigate myriad weapon options for the right scenario and improve them through coins found in your exploration of Tormentosa.
Hispania’s disturbing fusion of historical events, folklore, and religious undertones creates a uniquely horrifying world. Face off against staggering statues brought to life and unravel a dark narrative that blurs the line between reality and nightmare.
Prepare to sacrifice everything. How much blood will you shed to uncover the truth?

A decent bioshock-like. I had a fun time with it. The gimmick of health also being ammo was good, made for some fun tense moments. I also really liked the look of the game, definitely a strong point. Variety was a bit low, both in terms of weapons and enemies. There are three main areas, and they are distinct, but I wish they'd pushed it a bit further. Also, the game does a lot of gating backtracking, so I missed some clear collectibles. The story and characters were fine, nothing super interesting but they fit the theme. I played the game with the Spanish dub, which was great. The core ideas and aesthetics here are all good, though. I'm definitely looking forward to more from this studio, whether it be a sequel or something different.
Bioshock via Blasphemous. I wish that were as cool as it sounds. This game is more style over substance, feels way older that the original Bioshock. Controls are clumsy, combat feels intentionally annoying, even the story beats feel way off. I don't know if I would call it a bad game, but I definitely don't recommend it. Play Blasphemous and/or Bioshock instead.
There are just too many negatives, and as such cannot recommend this game, unfortunately. It's beautiful, visually. Some people compare it to Bioshock, and I guess the devs are shooting for that Spanish "bioshock" horror aesthetic, but it's certainly not in the same league as Bioshock, especially with respect to the gameplay, sound, voice acting, etc. -- Performance is bad. Lots of stuttering even on the lowest DLSS setting. Utilizing the UE5 engine was a poor choice. -- The puzzles are also poorly implemented. They're not fun, and break the game's immersion. Not sure why the devs though it was a good idea to basically trap you in an area and require you to solve the puzzles to proceed. Special shoutout to the domino one, which is likely the worst of the bunch. -- Voiceovers are...ahem...sub-par (to put it mildly). The casting of the actress who voiced Melodia was a big mistake. Enough said. Overall the game was a slog, but I toughed it out and finished it. Curious to see what the devs do next.
The movement doesn't feel as smooth as I expected. The story is not bad but not good either. The music is the best part of the game. It's a shame that it can only be played through the Vinyl menu instead of during gameplay.
