I was looking for the old "Battle Squadron" feeling and this game is right up my alley: Not too complicated. Subtle upgrade system. Nice instant bombs. Good learning curve and different playmodes. Played 3h straight and have to force myself to stop. :-)

Simple, fun, fairly challenging shump. If you like Truxton, you'll love this. It's NOT bullet-hell, despite the tag. Dev, you should update the description on the store page with something more… engaging :)

This is a good game that really leans into its old-school roots while avoiding the more frustrating aspects of those roots. The stages and bosses are well-crafted and fun to learn, and the scoring is simple to understand and get into.

Love it! Solid vertical scroller that hits all the right notes. Very unforgiving with the hit box and nice and challenging without feeling unfair

Very by the books retro shmup, but still quite good. If you play this game for 5-10 minutes you know what it is and have seen what it does, and that's not necessarily bad. It reminds me of early PC shmups. You collect score bonuses from destroying consecutive groups of enemies, you get very distinct weapons that have no apparent upgrades - it's more situational, what you're comfortable with using at any given moment. And you get bombs that also grant momentary invincibility, though I think I would prefer a screen bullet clear as the invincibility effect is very subdued. So Raiden this is not. It has very nice pixel art and great music, it controls fluidly. The game can be very hard but there are seemingly infinite continues so you can push through it, also it's not a total bullet hell or anything, patterns are readable and you can react to them. I purchased this on sale for my Steam Deck and I definitely got my money's worth.

I'm writing a review because shmups have so few in general on steam... Excellent game! This is most definitely an homage to Truxton/Tatsujin. If you're a fan of that game stop reading and just buy this now, especially at its low price. This game is challenging, but rewarding. The timed mode is also a welcome addition that I thoroughly enjoy.

Fantastic shmup that pays homage to the golden era of shooters. The controls are tight and responsive, the gameplay is satisfying, and the level designs are creative and unique. As a newcomer to the genre, I've spent over six hours with this game and have only made it to stage 3 on one credit. Considering there are 7 stages total, I'll be enjoying this game for a long time before I finally hit my goal of completing the game on one credit (1cc). Definitely recommended for any fan of the genre, and the $7 price tag is definitely worth it. Pieslice Productions, keep up the good work!

I need to say it, i LOVE TO HATE THIS GAME and i HATE TO LOVE THIS GAME. Pros : amazing graphics, just the good kind of high res retro, a game that looks how a remastered pc engine cd game should look like. Amazing soundtrack, each stage has a fantastic tune to it, the effects are also great, SPECIAL POINT TO THE ''YEEEEAAAAAAAAAHH'' that pops out from time to time. The game is fun, fast, furious and engaging , you really feels happy playing it, it is what a retro themed shooter should look and feel life. now the cons, the damn cons : IT IS UNFORGIVING to a fault, you will lose ships and i mean a lot, i am not kidding, don't believe what others say, they are just too proud to admit it, this game will kick the ass of everyone and anyone, i think i am pretty good at these games and it made me rage to no end. The chaos is way too much, the enemies are way way way more well equipped than you, the powerups are a joke, and u easily lost the cumulative you have and then good luck taking out bosses. Also, let us be honest, 3 weapons, with one of them only being a clear winner. stages are long , longer than needed. way too many stages, one would think it is good thing, but trust me, you will feel drained as soon as u reach the last 2 stages. so, u start to cheat and take advantage of the mechanics: -u choose the revamped version over the classic in the option, it is like 10% easier, not by much, but enough to make u last longer. - the enemy paterns are predictable, and this is annoying and a blessing at the same time. -keep choosing the green weapon. -abusing bombs and checkpoints, when u find a weapon powerup, this is your checkpoint and u know how to use it, and u keep the bombs for bosses and take them out easy with them. honestly, there is so much to love here and yet, so much to hate, i almost lost my cool to the last boss, also, and this is important: THERE IS 0 STORY , no intro, no ending, no nothing , and this is insane. anw, game is great, cheap, and a fun time, just not perfect, but as it is , one of the better shooters on steam and i highly recommend it.

Nice simple game overall. This game definitely captures the Toaplan feeling with it's Truxton like graphics and the bullet patterns. I especially liked the boss fights. Maybe except the fourth boss because how lame it becomes when you destroy all orbs and second phase attack is just some aimed bullets which is dodgeable by moving a few pixels lol. This game also uses a Battle Garegga like medal chaining system. However it does one thing better which is making a sound when a medal appears unlike Garegga. It was so annoying in Garegga when a medal spawns without you realising and you lose your chain. But making a sound when a medal appears is a great idea to fix this issue. Still this game is nowhere as chaotic as Garegga though. My main gripe about this game is how long the stages are. I like the enemy variety but some times they get repetetive. Not to mention the game lacks presentation, all levels are just one scrolling background and that's all. Still like i said game has good enemy variety,good bullet patterns and bosses that definitely capture the Toaplan spirit. Which is why i recommend this game to any shmup fan.
