tries a bit too hard to be balatro

All the difficulty comes from the first 1/4th of the Run. if you get past that, I swear it's literally just making sure you don't act dumb. At least, from the decks I've played so far. I love it, personally. Give it a try.

When I did my first run on Cribbish it made me really want to play Balatro, so then I installed Balatro again. But once I did a run in Balatro, I just really wanted to play Cribbish and uninstalled Balatro. Much better imo, lots more depth due to how cribbage is scored. Dare I even say stick to Balatro if your a normie, get on this for the full dopamine experience of: Number Go Up Brain Feel Good. If your on this game page I assume you play cribbage IRL. If you don't know crib, I doubt you would be able to fully appreciate what is being done with this masterpiece <3

In this game you're playing cribbage hands, but you've got relics, potions, and other power-ups to help you achieve ever-higher scores, which is very necessary because the requirements of each new round keep growing more unhinged. Cribbish is an absolute treasure for cribbage fans who enjoy a challenge, a pure delight to play (rage-inducing moments and all), and incredibly addictive. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Cribbage fans, buy this game. Non cribbage players, come and learn how to play in a fun way. Kind of like Balatro for Cribbage. Pick this one up, it is fun!

If you like Balatro and you like cribbage, this is a great game to invest some time and thought in.

Balatro but worse

Cozy cribbage roguelike that makes it really easy for that "just one more run" feeling to keep happening

I bought this game because I am a fan of cribbage and Balatro. Unfortunately, this game under delivers on both of these fronts. To make the game work as a single player experience, the developers had to change some things that make the game no longer feel like cribbage. You basically just have two hands which are scored separately. On the other side, the game takes a lot of inspiration from Balatro, but it takes the parts that work and doesn't capture what makes them good in the first place. For instance, there are modifications you can apply your cards, but there are way too many possible modifications, and some of them are worded in a way where it isn't clear what the modifications actually do. It has the "number go up" aspect of Balatro, but the sound effects aren't nearly as satisfying and just come off as really annoying when you're hearing it again and again and again. Also, there's a bug where if you right-click on the "Draw" button, the cards you have selected stay in your hand, and this is very exploitable. You end up with giant hands that pretty much win every time and so it's not satisfying when your score gets bigger. TL;DR: The idea of "Balatro but cribbage" is good, but I think some more thought should have gone into what makes both of the sources of inspiration fun in the first place.
