I love this game, but sadly it will not run because it doesn't work on windows 10 (also 8).
NO SE ABRE EL JUEGO, PONGO ABRIR Y PONE QUE SE ESTÁ PREPARANDO... ES UN CHISTE DE MAL GUSTO. COBRAR, LO HICIERON RAPIDITO, AHORA, DICE QUE NO HAY SOPORTE TECNICO PORQUE ES DE UN CREADOR EXTERNO. ESTO PARECE UNA ESTAFA EN TODA REGLA.
Absolutely reccommended! However, do note that if you are looking to play the original luxor games VIA the luxor collection (best price) you will need to do a bit of research on each games steam forums for the said fixes for the games, but its very easy. Luxor 1 u just gotta download and install a simple patch (found on games forums) Luxor: Amun Rising: just gotta download and install a simple patch (found on games forums) Luxor 2: just gotta download and install a simple patch (found on games forums) Luxor 3: Run it in windows 98 compatibility mode Luxor Quest for afterlife: (should work out of the box) Luxor: 5th passage: Run in windows 98 compatibility mode. Luxor: Evolved: (should work right out of the box)
A standalone expansion pack to the original Luxor. I have many of the same issues with this one as well, but there are some improvements. Just like the original game, Luxor: Amun Rising is priced at $9.99 and doesn't work outside of the box, requiring a different .exe file to be downloaded from a 3rd party and placed into the game's folder. The sketchy ball accuracy has returned as well, likely because both games run on the same engine. The standard shooting speed is still a little too slow, however this is not as much of a problem anymore as I will explain in a moment. Now for the improvements: 1) Difficulty selection has been added, with three difficulties to choose from. While not as preferable as a simple practice mode, this addition does allow for players to practice harder levels at a lower difficulty so they don't waste all of their lives on one stage when trying to complete the game on a harder difficulty. This fact alone diminishes the annoyance of the slow shooting speed, since practicing on Easy difficulty will quickly improve a player's ability to make shots when they matter most on harder difficulties. 2) The addition of a new power-up, the Scorpion, has huge implications for the flow of the game. The Scorpion is essentially a "get out of jail free" card if you are about to lose in a stage. It gives a few seconds of breathing room as you refocus. Easily the best addition to the game. Aside from this, the rest of the game is about as good as the original Luxor. Solid and consistent Ancient Egyptian theme, with sounds and music that compliment the design. The gameplay is still simple and addicting overall. Players can also use this game to practice for the original Luxor as well, since the games are extremely similar in mechanics. However, I still have a hard time recommending Amun Rising over newer entries in the series. Starting in Luxor 2, we see huge changes in gameplay flow and many improvements to the overall feel of the games. I would recommend waiting for a big sale or just skipping ahead to Luxor 2.
LIVE RISING 2.5
“Luxor: Amun Rising” is one of those expansions that doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it sticks to the tried-and-true formula of the first game and fine-tunes it. This time, players won’t face Set himself, but the Princes of Megiddo, whose countless minions come in endless chains of colorful spheres. We still have our trusty winged shooter, and the goal is clear: don’t let the balls reach the pyramid.[eos] The game feels noticeably bigger: 88 levels give about an hour more gameplay than the original. Full credit to the designers at MumboJumbo—the ball movement patterns are much more original and challenging. The early stages are a joy because they don’t repeat, and even though levels start to repeat in the second half (like in the first game), new elements introduced closer to the finale keep things interesting. Visually, the game serves as a bridge to full 3D, confidently shifting to a 2.5D format with a redesigned map and funnier illustrations. A big new feature is the addition of difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Expert), letting you either chill with a YouTube video or go for a real challenge, racking up 30+ million points per playthrough. But the real star of 'Amun Rising' is the new Scorpio bonus. This defender moves along the track toward the chain and can clear a large part of the tail or even wipe out leftover balls all on its own. It’s a super powerful tool that adds a lot of energy to the gameplay (though unfortunately it’ll be noticeably nerfed in future editions). The soundtrack in this installment has become more pleasant and less heavy, which just makes the meditative vibe even better. Even without some modern conveniences and wide-screen resolution, 'Luxor: Amun Rising' is still a top-notch example of the genre. It’s a solid, honest casual game that nails its purpose — entertaining the player and giving that satisfying feeling every time a chain pops.
