This feels like the most internally realized of the Hellforge games I've played so far, though there are a number I haven't scoped out (or finished). Super unique feel thanks to the way the gore system is integrated into the mechanics/player abilities. Settings and atmosphere are killer, story is better than a game like this needs to be while still being out of the way... very cool game. regarding moment-to-moment game feel: It's more of a Cultic and less of a Dusk, if you feel me. A little more methodical; a little more brooding, a little less whiplash, while still having some full-on arena moments. Arsenal feels... good, but maybe a little un-dazzling? They all feel good to use, and I like that you can find upgrades, but I feel like I didn't particularly LOVE any of them. That's okay though, because the right-hand weapon is always augmented with a left-hand spell/magic ability. Juggling resources while keeping enemies back with a combination of spells and weaponry ends up being very engaging and entertaining. Level design is really solid! Again, a little Cultic-ish, in ways. Really cool game - I'm glad I checked it out, and I look foraward to chapter 2/the new gore system.
I had this on Steam Share with my GF that was living in another country at the time. We both shared each others play throughs and loved it after I HAD to buy it for myself. Its a new concept for a story, it feels old school but also new to the table. I cannot wait for more episodes! You are one bloke but with the mind of the team! Only whingey complaint for me is the MP-40 or any rapid flashing scenes. If any way they were able to be slowed down or cancelled would be a plus for those with sensitivity. But overall. Definitely get this game and keep up with the developer and updates!
Was really enjoying this game. It's has cool weapons, cool levels and cool graphics. It's just most of the time the eating to get health mechanic doesn't even work and the cast enemies in level 6 just ruin it for me. Also enemies literally either won't attack you until you're directly in front of them or see you through walls and chase you down. Hopefully this game gets fixed with future updates. Oh also the final boss is complete BS. Barely hurt him, have to keep rotating statues to even damage him, mea while hordes of enemies chase you and you have limited health pickups, since the eating mechanic never works or even helps. Just sloppy
Game seems great, at its core. However, I personally find it hard on the eyes and wish there were more graphics options to play with to alleviate that. Additionally, this needs proper controller support with better mapping.
I'm always trying to find shooters that let you play as a lady. This one is especially good because you can be a lady that eats people to regain health. Actually love this game, but wish it updated at a more rapid pace if only because I want more of it.
At the time of my review only one episode has been released, but what's there is pretty good! Some ideas are really creative, like the possibility of setting enemies on fire to heal more by consuming them or
time travelling
. This is exactly what an FPS game with a with as its main character should be
Holy hot damn this is deliciously bloody and gory.
This game is fantastic. Probably one of the most creative, and fun indie shooters I've ever played. So many little game mechanics that make up a lot of that fun. The acid, the shooting of enemy projectiles, the health recovery, the little notes, and it goes on and on. Not to mention the music and atmosphere. The gibs and gore. The humor of the inside jokes. I could go on. It's just so good. Definite 9 out of 10 so far and def buy if they make any other games like this.
pretty fun game as a pagan since 2014 i approve & as a ps1 gamer, i also approve good job, i cant wait to see what this game will be like when it's out of early access! though it crashes my linux amd driver sometimes
