You have to balance not only your torch (which is your LIFE in this game) but also your stones (weapons), health, and money. The big one is your torch and stones. Stones are required to break obstacles, discover secrets AND kill enemies. You can't do them all with the amount they provide you so you have to choose or get creative, and that's where the game shines. You can take the path of killing enemies with the environment, juke them and just stay alive or use the stones and kill the enemies. However if you do that you won't be able to get all of the secrets or money in the stage. See the dilemma? This is all balanced with secret hunting (WHICH THEY ARE VERY WELL HIDDEN OH MY GOD) and just staying alive with enough torch. If your torch runs out... you die. The shadows come and claim your life but it's not that bad cause you're already in a tomb. HAH. All in all this is a great game with a lot of depth to it and great puzzles. Highly recommended. Courier of the Crypts has great atmosphere, level design, and music. It is a game made with a certain vision in mind, which biases my opinion of it somewhat, since I tend to forgive many rough edges if I can tell someone poured their heart and soul into making a game. This is clearly the case with Courier of the Crypts. Some weaknesses in the game were certain enemy placements, which felt like unavoidable gotchas more than anything, and the need to grind for ammunition if one wants to go back and explore levels properly for secrets. And while the time limit imposed on using the torch brought a nice touch of tension to the levels the first time around, exploring levels after beating them (or the entire main story of the game) felt rather tedious. However, the devs have kept updating the game and listening to community feedback on Discord, and have already sanded off some of the mentioned rough edges. Whatever gripes I may have with the game are mere nitpicks, if anything, and overall it was a solid ten hours of fun. Well, maybe eight to nine hours of fun and a bit of frustration on top. But a good game nevertheless.

Sadly went to the most common mistake with puzzle games: at the end it had to turn into a bad combat game.

This game is really fun. The level are nice and the main concept of gameplay is cool ! I was afraid about this "light" management but all my fears drop off when i started playing. Everything is correctly explain and your feel comfortable to explore those caves at the light of a torch. Good job dev ! I recommend this game.

Хороший сурвайв-хоррор в обертке пиксельного данжн-кроулера. Если сочетание этих жанров звучит вам интересно, то дайте игре шанс. За стимовские 2 часа вы точно поймете оно это или нет

Amazing pixel graphics. Dark ambiance, short visibility and limited duration of the magical torch in a place that is crawling with spiders (you can switch them out for other enemies if you have a problem with spiders) and others spooky stuff all create a great atmosphere. Levels are handcrafted challenging and interesting with plenty of hidden secrets to explore. The story is mysterious and keeps you going deeper and deeper into the crypt. There are some minor visual bugs here and there. And the text could probably use some work but i know the developer and his dedication to this game so i am sure those will be ironed out as well.
