great visuals, creepy ambience, lots of story building. starts just a bit slow but gets very good. well worth the price tag, havent finished it yet but i highly recommend it
sympathique petite histoire.

Cosmic Fear is a sci-fi indie horror game that attempts to blend a detective investigation, ufology, and classic space horror. The game evokes mixed feelings: on the one hand, it impresses with its visuals; on the other, it raises questions about the storyline. + 1. Excellent graphics and consecration. Visually, the game looks very impressive for its genre. The developers put a lot of work into the consecration and shadows. 2. If you evaluate the project specifically through the lens of Lovecraft, it has a good atmosphere 3. Interesting and well-designed locations 4. This game was made by a single developer, which is commendable. 5. The game mechanics are well-designed - 1. Problems with the plot and storytelling. The narrative is overwhelmed. The game’s main weakness lay in the script (which may be partly due to my personal aversion to Lovecraftian horror, but the problems with the execution are objectively present). The setup is intriguing: you play as a scientist studying the UFO phenomenon, searching for clues and gathering evidence. However, as the story progresses, the narrative loses its pace, meditative quality and coherence. The plot becomes extremely disjointed: events pile up on top of one another without any clear logical connection. Without any coherent explanations, the player is suddenly bombarded with aliens, the military, cultists, incomprehensible spawn of cosmic chaos, Cthulhu, some other dimensions, and underground caves that have suddenly appeared. The narrative is overwhelmed. As a result, the intriguing investigation turns into a chaotic mess where it’s hard to grasp the characters’ motivations or the essence of what’s happening. And to understand the essence of everything that’s going on, you have to read a ton of notes. By the end of the game, the suspense has already faded, it’s just - “oh, well UFO again, oh, well monster again.” 2. The game lacks a dark atmosphere. I praised the atmosphere, but by the end, the game loses its darkness and mystery, turning into a routine. 3. As a horror game, it falls short: the entire scare factor relies solely on a couple of jump scares and a monster from which you can’t escape by choosing your own path 4. The ending struck me as strange Unfortunately, I can't give this game a good rating—I just got bored with it. 7/10 It's clear that the developer put his heart into this game and worked very hard on it. I'd like to wish him all the best in the future!
Sehr gute Story bisher. Sehr zu empfehlen
Recommended, for a night of piecing together a cosmic mystery through found documents rather than combat. A drained lake conceals a prehuman necropolis, and the biomechanical creature design and organic-metal ship interiors look genuinely alien throughout. The story unfolds entirely through witness reports, medical files and cult scripture, rewarding careful reading with one of the more original alien-mythos payoffs in recent memory. The stalker announces itself with a scream and audible footsteps, making the horror fair by telegraphing every approach. The friction sits in the systems around that tension. Detection is inconsistent, sometimes spotting through pure darkness and sometimes walking straight past, and the despawn behaviour can drop the creature directly in front of a checkpoint for an unearned death. With no map or objective list, unmarked dead ends and long backtracking through cleared tunnels stall the final act. The mystery is worth the patience those flaws tax.
Cosmic Fear is a relatively short, atmospheric walking simulator. It's mechanically simple, it's mostly walking and picking up objects and reading lore snippets. If that's not appealing to you, skip this one. Pros: - Looks great - Atmosphere is top notch - Lovecraftian horror - Impressive work for a solo dev Cons: - I did experience a couple crashes (temporarily lowering graphics settings solved it). But it just came out so these will hopefully be fixed soon - Short, took me about 5 hours and that was really exploring everything. There's a secret you can get by playing a second time and nabbing some collectibles, and I completed a full second playthrough to see that and it only took 1.5 hours - Some minor usability annoyances with the menus - Voice acting and human character models aren't the best Decent game overall. Glad to see the dev putting out more games because all of his stuff is up my alley.
