Reviews
Played the early access years ago decided to jump back in a couple months ago and have been playing it off and on. I love this little game. The graphics are so charming and adorable. This game is a gem for people who love the base build. Astounding amount of customization options and decorations. So many bosses that you can fight over and over and the different classes are so fun. I've been having the grandest time with warlock. Good with friends!
I like the basic concept of digging though different kinds of rock and discovering biomes, ores and underground structures. Combat is mostly fun with mostly cool designed bosses. Automation for farming different kinds of materials is nice. However, there are also a few negative points I like to note. Enemies are very simple, only having one attack which is mostly either a melee attack or a ranged attack. Furthermore, sometimes it feels like enemies spawn too much. I would find it better, if there were less but stronger and more complex enemies. In general, there could be more diversity in the weapons. Most of the weapons (in one of the 4-5 combat categories) play the same and only have slightly different stats (it seems like in the newer updates, the weapons are a bit more diverse). My main complaint about the game however, is the main progression loop. When you enter a new biome, you mine the new ore, make new equipement and if you want explore the biome to find structures to loot. Then you fight the boss(es) of the biome and repeat. This makes the game feel quite repetitive after some time. Instead I think it would be nice, if depending on the biome, the main progression materials would be acquired through different ways. So instead of always mining ore, sometimes you have to grow special kind of crops, fight enemies, catch special fish (fishing in general only serves the purpose of getting fish for cooking good food) or defeat enemy arenas. All theses mechanics already exist in game but are mostly optional and not needed at all since they dont deliver any exclusive important ressources. Overall, Core Keeper is a good game, but it has the potential to be even more than that.
Quick Description: -Core Keeper is a survival crafting game that takes inspiration form Terraria, Stardew Valley, and a hint of Minecraft. There is a lot to like here. The world is ginormous and you are given lots of freedom to explore. I played solo but I suspect this is a great game to play with friends or large groups. There are tons of secrets to find, unique weapons and armor to find/create, and plenty of logistical challenges. The bosses are unique and offer a decent challenge. Having said all of this, I started to find the gameplay loop a bit repetitive as I called it quits around the 10-11 hour mark. You will do a lot of the same couple things over and over again. I killed 3 bosses, mined/explored all over the map, and attempted to craft everything that I was able to. The repetition is one of the bigger complaints of some of the negative reviews that I have read. Consensus: -Middle of the Road Game (Tier 4 and makes up 25% of my reviews). Maybe I'm not being fair in giving this game a lower score. I love factory automation games, but I just don't find survival crafting games as compelling even if there is some overlap between the two genres. I consistently grow tired of the same loop of exploring, collecting, and upgrading without there being a clear way to efficiently automate some of this loop. Yes, you will be able to automate some things, especially as you get to mid to late game. But exploring the world and constantly digging/mining is an un-avoidable part of this game. I simply grew tired of this and lost interest in moving forward. If you love this genre, take everything that I just mentioned with a giant grain of salt.
yummers
very fun and addictive was slightly hard to defeat some of the bosses i recommend getting at least 1 ore rank above what you think you need
.
Terraria but from a different perspective, 10/10
Man this games slaps. Wish I never bought it. Time waster, in a good way. Never played with 8 people, however played with my significant other and our eldest. Every moment is filled with, I'm just doing this or that hold on. Then when you get together to fight a boss or something, everyone is scrambling for loot. Then there's the loot. Too much to organise and none of it is ever the loot that you want T_T It's all RNG I understand but ranged builds are F**KED UP some of the items don't get set bonuses but they're clearly part of a set B*TCH! Any way I'D recommend!
fun game very good.
