Que buen juego la verdad, lo recomiendo
You're not going to like this game if: -Don't like side scrollers with difficult combat or navigation. -Don't like games with too many buttons that you have to use or you won't survive. Aside from that, it's a very well done side scroller. It's very chaotic and the time manipulations adds a cool feel to the combat. Even if you're not into the LoL characters or it's lore, you'll still find the story very enjoyable.
Double Stallion must love giving people motion sickness with that camera movement, incredibly fast-paced, filled with constant parkour, teleporting, and reaction-based gameplay, it genuinely feels like it's trying to induce motion sickness with the camera flailing around like crash footage from a car's dashcam. The chapter that takes place entirely in midair was especially dreadful, I had to rush that part or else I would vomit. Also bosses are like coughing baby compared to the explosive projectile spamming bot the game throws at you. It's not entirely bad, good sound design and soundtrack, so as voice over. Decent story, love the art style choices and how every characters skill and move set are taken entirely from LoL. TLDR: Too expensive, get it when it discount, terrible camera movement, make sure to have a vomit bag when play
Pontos positivos: - Jogo EXTREMAMENTE FLUIDO. Me permitiu completar 100% do jogo sem precisar rejogá-lo. Muito show.
Pretty cookie-cutter metroidvania, nothing about this game is innovative. Even with quite a few cameos they all fall pretty flat. The best thing this game has going for it is it's pacing, you can 100% the map in less than 10 hours so boredom never truly comes even though it's always nipping at your heels.
so arcane is a beautiful story with a conflict between piltover and zaun, and the war between them is only enhanced by their respective technological advancements, hextech and shimmer. and it's incredibly interesting to see how the factions develop this technology, what it shows about the people in power, and the characters from either side that utilise both (jinx steals hextech and victor obtains shimmer). so then this game takes that idea but instead of having shimmer, the zaunites just invent "syntixi crystals" which is literally just hextech but orange. super lame. also it is just an excuse to reuse enemy models.
Good game. Not a metroidvania though. And I couldn't really recommend it at full price.
Cool Stuff
+ Art style and character design is cool. + Some interesting mechanics in regard to time manipulation, not often seen in similar games. + Combat is fun, specially during the first third of the game in my case (later things can get a bit messy). + Platforming challenges are fun to do. + Optional gauntlets with original fight setups.
Not so Cool Stuff
- The game makes you go through the same paths once and again (nexus zone), and there's no fast travel system. This means minutes and minutes of boring and repetitive backtracking. - Not a fan of the long delay some abilities have to be available again, even more when some platform challenges depend on agility. I'm talking about the "throwing disk" and the
time-slowing circle thing
. Both take SO long so come back. Specially confused by the second, as it's already limited by number of uses. - As said above, as you progress combat can get a bit messy, because... -- Some fights can get the screen full of stuff. This can make it difficult to see where Echo is, as well as some attacks. Also, the fact that one ability constantly moves a silhouette of him around does not help at all. -- Aerial combat is confusing. Sometimes you slow down in the air when hitting enemies, sometimes you don't. -- Stuff like enemies with a barrier and spawning exploding enemies can get really annoying (you defeat them with the disk, and as said above it's not exactly responsive). -- The auto-aim works weird. Sometimes you want to spawn an attack on the enemy you have just in front of you, and the game decides to do it farther away. -- Etc etc.
Neutral Stuff
* Not a metroidvania: ** Extremely linear maps. ** Linear ability progression. ** Exploration isn't really rewarding, but rather punishing (no fast travel + narratively-closed paths + fixed camera positions that make backtrack on some places 10 times harder). * Not really fan of the narrative. Time-travelling stuff is always interesting, but the way it was handled here wasn't specially original or surprising. Also, basing the last part of the game on
the "you don't understand it" cliché (which gets even worse because if someone could understand you, it should be yourself)
was a pain to go through.
Had a blast on this game. Don't really have any experience with League of Legends but, that didn't matter in this game. The story for what it's worth is decent. The mechanics is where this game shines due it's use of time. Liked zipping all over the place and attacking enemies. Map layout was great but, hoping they expand on that and include a DLC. This game definitely deserves a more! Either way, one of the most fun metroidvania's I played yet.
