For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

i’m a sucker for 2D metroidvanias, so naturally Constance was on my wishlist prior to its release. my first impression was that it seems rather derivative, but i don't think that necessarily offsets its charm. the game’s biggest highlight is its aesthetics; the visuals are absolutely stunning, and the fluidity of the animations is so satisfying to watch. each area is uniquely vibrant, and when you pair that with the impressive soundtrack, it creates a memorable, artistic atmosphere that feels refreshingly different from most RPGs or metroidvanias. Constance certainly isn’t without its flaws though. while the map looks great, the zones - along with other elements - feel empty and disjointed. unlike its more lore-heavy counterparts, there isn’t much of a rich, overarching plot to tie everything together. this is by no means a reason to dissuade anyone from playing, but when you have a developing urban market, a carnival in the clouds, an astronomy-themed academy with a haunted library, and a foundry blending the natural and industrial, it’s hard not to think about the missed opportunities in storytelling and world-building. i understand that some things might have been scrapped for brevity or due to a lack of time/resources on the developers' end - it’s certainly not my place to call it objectively lackluster, but it’s a shame because in my mind there's so much obvious creative potential to work with. it’s clear the game takes place in the protagonist’s inner world, where the stresses of daily life, including feelings of burnout and inadequacy, bleed into her mental state. it’s definitely reminiscent of Celeste in that regard, and while the “being at war with yourself” theme might seem trite at this point, i still think it’s a refreshing deviation from the usual RPG structure. that being said, while Constance checks all the boxes on paper, the NPCs and biomes seemingly fall flat when you look beneath that. this game revolves around an artist created by artists, so i can’t help but wonder: are these characters childhood OCs/imaginary friends with sentimental significance? do the areas represent different facets of her psyche? how do these elements contribute to the overarching plot and world-building besides simply advancing through the story? the same goes for the boss fights (except the final one of course). there’s a clear theme of escapism here, and while the ambience is intimate and visually pleasing, the lack of depth in characters and plot leaves the world feeling isolated and underdeveloped. it’s a shame because there is so much wasted potential in its current state. like, we have a developing town with a robot mayor, a market, and a noodle stand (which isn't even unlocked until an optional late-game side quest) that you can't even interact with; a carnival with two (2) NPCs: an emotionally dysregulated carousel operator and a disgruntled employee; an eccentric headmaster of an empty university; a materialistic queen(?) with hoarding tendencies but no kingdom; and an aristocratic lady of… something. i liked the inclusion of side quests, but i think their effect on the user's experience would have been stronger with more cohesive world-building and memorable NPC interactions that are supposed to bring the game to life. additionally, i didn't like how unintuitive and inaccessible some of them were within the game. for example, i had to look up how to restore the phone line, but that could very well be me missing an obvious hint. i don't want things spelled out to the player like a five-year-old, but some in-game hints would have been preferable. maybe i’m just being hypercritical - after all, i tend to consume media with longer, more fleshed-out storytelling and characters, so my expectations are naturally higher, but it’s hard not to notice the gaps when the foundation is so visually strong. despite my personal preferences, i did thoroughly enjoy Constance, and what i would have wanted doesn't make it a better or worse game by any objective measure - i'm simply just yapping lmao. i’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a short, sweet, and aesthetically pleasing metroidvania that balances cuteness, charm, poignancy, and sentimentality. moving on to the mechanics: the controls were easy to grasp, and i found the platforming rather engaging - more so than most others in fact. i would have loved to see the inspirations tied more into the story rather than just being secrets for achievement hunting as some of them felt underutilized. full disclosure: i’ve put hundreds of hours into Hollow Knight and Silksong, so my standards for challenge and depth are relatively high. the boss fights, while beginner-friendly, felt predictable and anticlimactic to me - though i recognize this might appeal to more casual players. for those who prefer a lower skill threshold, i think you'll find the combat a lot more satisfying. for players like me who crave challenge and spontaneity, it might feel a bit lacking, but that might just be my ADHD talking. i do love this game, but i think it would be disingenuous to review it in a vacuum. it's hard not to use Hollow Knight as a frame of reference considering the glaringly obvious similarities and the fact i went into this as a Team Cherry fanatic, but nonetheless it's a solid game that warrants more visibility. as i was writing this, Super Paper Mario (2007) - a childhood classic of mine - came to mind, and maybe it's just me, but i feel like this kinda matches its vibe, albeit on a much smaller scale. despite its flaws, Constance delivers where it counts: storytelling and visuals. it’s a game that works for beginners and casual players looking for something brief and charming, as well as seasoned players who appreciate artistic depth and want something fresh and novel. if you enjoyed Hollow Knight, Celeste, Nine Sols, Ender Lilies, Ori, MIO, etc this is definitely worth picking up. the best way i can describe it is if Hollow Knight meets Celeste, but with a shorter playthrough of course. that said, i’d suggest waiting for a sale as the price feels a bit steep for the length, but it's a worthy investment nonetheless.
It's ok
