I don't know what this is, but it's not Keen Dreams... this is some stripped down, edited, buggy and clunky re-release. Don't buy it.
it is better. the graphics is sharper and the addition of music finally creates a complete game. the unlimited lives is also a plus. while the other difficulties is absent, it is easier, because of the extra ammunition per pickup change and the unlimited lives. not being able to save is a bit negative however. the lack of any indication of completed levels is a feature they should add back. the original version had a large done sign on completed levels. the original version does not however run on my windows 7 laptop, while this version does. the added story text also helps.
Worser than most games somehow.
thats what i like
amazing
Cool Story...
Before anything, two things: 1. The original games is good. 2. The enhanced version has technical issues BUT IT'S ABSOLUTELY PLAYABLE. That said, I RECOMMEND this game, but with some caveats. Don't try BY ANY MEANS to play this game with a gamepad. It doesn't have the jump button assigned. Don't even use any key mapper (Steam's own nor external), because the game will still recognize your gamepad and you'll be pressing commands two times and can have a distorted experience. Limit the framerate externally to 60 FPS (use something like the NVIDIA App) or the game logic will break in any higher framerate. If you play with a keyboard (ARROWS to move, CTRL for jump, ALT for shoot and SHIFT for run) and get hold of some ocasional problems with the interface, the enhanced version is a pretty good, even solid experience. It runs smoothly, has widescreen, has some enhanced graphics and even an excellent soundtrack! (which the original game lacked). It also makes a twist on the gameplay: now you don't have lives, you can't collect the bombs regularly (to defeat the final boss) and can't save inside a level. In this version, you'll have infinite lives, but you'll have to start over the level when you die. You'll get a bomb by getting all point items in the level or by beating the level under a certain time (no need to get all the items). For that last objective, it will be vital to use the newly added run ability, which wasn't present on the original game, giving an interesting twist to the game; but don't be fooled, even with that ability, the game is still pretty challenging. And when you finish the game, you unlock a second new course for each level, based of or modifying the original level, but way more challenging. So, if you already mastered the base experience, you'll still have a good challenge trying to beat the new, harder levels. If any of that isn't enough for you, there are also included the original EGA and CGA versions of the game, emulated in DOSBox. So, if the enhanced version isn't your thing, you still get the original, untouched experience, IN TWO VERSIONS! In conclussion, even if it has some problems, I think for its price is a pretty good deal! If you already played and liked the main Keen experiences, you can't leave this one behind.
Yes.
