«Colouration» Review(En/RUS)
Gameplay: https://youtu.be/mKvnMtCnxHI
«Review(En):»
Thrash! No sound, music, menus, ability to stretch a picture in full screen. We move cursor on the squares until the field completely changes color. Then the field is updated with a new color, so that we to move a cursor around the screen/the squares again.
«Review(RUS):»
TLDR: avoid. This game is shockingly presented. The menu options don't fit on the screen and are unreadable. Having played a game mode it's not possible to return to the menu. There is no quit button. After I had made 80% progress through the achievements, the dev saw fit to delete all of that progress and clear all achievements, without any warning.
Game Dev has gone crazy or something. Don't buy it, you can't even see the Game Modes and such because the UI is just a huge ♥♥♥♥ up.
Whack.
Colouration is barely a game. It's a minimalist "bubble-wrap-popping" excercise where you're presented with a grid of coloured squares and you must "colour" them just by passing your mouse pointer over them (clearly designed for mobile). That's all there is to it. No gameplay loops of any meaningful kind, unless you can describe popping the bubbles on a sheet of bubble wrap as a game... and if that's not a game, this isn't either. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, or proper audio either. There's no soundtrack. I'm not sure if that's better or worse than a bad soundtrack... but it's clearly some kind of laziness from the developer here. Why should gamers put up with developers being lazy? This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes this is a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Colouration didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievments, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for reaching the 5th level in the game, trivial to do, and only around 22 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game, less than a quarter of the players. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. Colouration is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
