Colosseum VR

I have seen quite a few of these virtual tours and educational experiences based around the Roman Colosseum in Italy, but this really was one of the better ones. With full narration and guide points shown by beams of light, this is a tour filled with information that lasts about 25 minutes. Within that time you will get a few different choices like staying on the ground, or going up in the air to view the Colosseum. The narrator’s voice is nice and clear, plus the information is presented in a guided tour style making it easy to follow along with. Given that this is free is shocking because it is far better than other virtual tours of the Colosseum, which cost a fair penny. If you have an interest in this sort of thing, do give it a go because despite it being a big download, it was well worth the wait.

Colosseum VR is a free VR educational experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. It has choice of English, Czech, and Japanese language in the starting lobby. The tour has three or four either / or choices that change what you see, so you might wanna run through twice and pick the opposite choice. There is a patch of ground that stay under your feet when you fly or look over a drop, so you don't feel like you have falling fear. The narrator was clear and well spoken, plenty of info about the Colosseum in Rome. The modeling and textures looked ok. Warning: Might cause motion sickness, there is some movement on rails during the tour. Try it, if you are interested in Ancient Italian History.

I wish there were more educational VR titles like this. This was a fairly deep dive into the history of the Colosseum, and even gave me a few pieces of information that I did not pick up as a graduate student in Roman history. I am left with a few questions, particularly what are the sources or inspiration for the frescoes depicted as you enter the building, but overall an absolute delight for both novices and experts. As a VR experience, it was very good, especially for a free product. Not the most graphically detailed environments, but enough to feel fairly immersive. There is no free movement or notable interaction, just scripted movement sequences with some occasional choices to select a viewing platform. The narration and pacing are very good, save for one instance prior to entering the Colosseum, which drags a bit without any voice over.

(Vive) Наискучнейшая лекция без субтитров. Интерактивности тоже нет. Картинка чуть дрожит. Визуал хороший, пришлось таращить на него закрывающиеся сами собой глаза. Наверное, отзыв получился резковатым. Все же в игре есть движущиеся люди и много деталей. И многое я узнала в первый раз. Просто не полностью используются возможности VR.

Best guided tour that I have found, for ANY site. Interesting, and informative. Even gives a couple options during the tour, so that you can customize your tour. 5 out of 5 stars
