Very clunky with limited game play. Shows it's age and just not fun.

Really good game, there's some game breaking bugs though and the game has been abandoned for almost a decade so they will never get fixed
Great little submarine warfare game that holds up to this day. Bit of a learning curve but there are options to reduce the pain while you learn. Dotmod helps a fair bit with qol and added features/content. It's a game which requires some thought and plenty of patience but the satisfaction of sinking an entire Soviet invasion fleet or wolf pack and the tension of the combat is superb. Well worth it on sale
haha very funny game.... NOT Aritificial difficulty for the sake of not coding more gameplay realism .... did not expect the devs to be THIS stupid..... 1. start scenario 2. get detected as soon as the scenario has loaded 3. get torpedoes fired at you with 100% accuracy as soon as being detected (in other words you start running away as soon as your scenario loads) 4. Torpedoes can detect you 500m above you while in silent mode and no speed at all. 5. Torpedoes don't interfere with each other's sonar pings and just keep plowing to your boat like a moth to a night lamp, and you can hear them from torpedo sonar pings from TENS OF KILOMETERS AWAY.... Game is quite funny if you enjoy getting murdered by crazy AI BS.... So much potential... wasted.
A.I seems to know how to sink you regardless on how good you are at the game, moss torpedoes do nothing now, so kind of pointless having them, when all they do is take up good space for normal torpedoes. You got nothing to shoot down aircraft, yet it's okay for them to drop a torpedo into the water and have you damaged or fully sunk. A.I ships should have limits to how many guns they can shoot at once and not having some sort of free for all sub hunt party! The missions given feel kind of pointless and not fun to play, to bad we can't just pick if we want to play that mission in the campaign or not but nope, you are forced to do that mission!
I bought the game hoping for a successor to the Sub Command or Dangerous Waters games where the realism was very heigh. The Cold Waters isn't one. The first and probably biggest problem is that it throws you into combat right away. No option for preparation or strategic approach. Most of the times enemy have you on their sensors imidiately and you have to shoot and run. I can imagine that for most people there is enough fun factor in this, but this is nothing close to real sub strategy.
Had great promised, but bad because of two easily fixed problems: 1. No save point. The game takes HOURS to play properly, and you have to play it in ONE SITTING. That forces you to rush and do things a real sub commander would not do. 2. More than half the time, you spawn with an enemy right on top of you and spotting you. No time to play cat and mouse, no opportunity to get away. More than half the time, you're dead before you can set up a reasonable position. Save your ##

This is one of the best games ever. Years and years pass and I still enjoyed it enormously
