Really an underrated gem with a diverse and interesting world, a unique storyline, and a soundtrack that bumps harder than the red devil herself. The artwork is fantastic and with a few small exceptions there is nothing I would see changed. It's well-worth the time to play in its entirety.

У этой игры один недостаток. Мало хочу больше контента!!!
Меня хватило на несколько минут игры в этот шедевр. Это какой-то привет из конца 80х, причём в худшем исполнении. Категорически не рекомендую.
Hotline Miami 2077
Pretty Challenging. Some of the levels were rage inducing but I had a lot of fun along the way. Tip for Linux Players, keep it in windowed mode if you experience screen tearing like I did
Cold Shell, developed and published by Brutal Muse, is a compact yet energetic top-down action brawler set in a dystopian, neon-lit future where social order has collapsed and survival depends on brute force and quick reflexes. Blending arcade-style combat with light RPG progression, the game delivers a fast-paced experience that prioritizes kinetic melee encounters, environmental interaction, and incremental character growth. While modest in scope, Cold Shell carves out its identity through tight combat mechanics and a gritty cyberpunk atmosphere. The setting establishes a bleak world shaped by a lost war and the breakdown of societal structures. Firearms are outlawed, leaving the streets dominated by gangs and makeshift weapons. You step into the role of a battle-hardened protagonist fueled by anger and a chemically enhanced adrenaline surge. The narrative framework is simple, serving primarily as motivation for the constant stream of street-level confrontations. Rather than building a complex lore-heavy world, the game focuses on delivering immediate action within a rough, urban environment. Combat is the centerpiece of the experience. Armed primarily with melee weapons such as bats, shields, and improvised tools, players dive into waves of enemies in tight arenas. The combat loop emphasizes movement, timing, and stamina management. Dashing to avoid damage, carefully choosing when to strike, and controlling enemy positioning are critical to survival. An energy system governs offensive and evasive actions, preventing mindless button-mashing and encouraging tactical restraint. Encounters reward aggression balanced with awareness, as overextending can quickly lead to being overwhelmed. Environmental interaction adds depth to the brawling. Objects scattered throughout the stages—barrels, debris, tables, and urban clutter—can be used strategically. These elements allow players to manipulate enemy movement, create temporary advantages, or deal area damage. This feature prevents fights from feeling one-dimensional and encourages players to think spatially within confined arenas. It enhances the chaotic energy of combat while maintaining a sense of deliberate control. Progression mechanics introduce light RPG elements that give structure to repeated play. Completing encounters grants experience points that increase character stats such as strength and endurance. Upgrades improve survivability and offensive potential, making later stages more manageable. Additional abilities and equipment options add modest customization, allowing players to refine their approach to combat. While not deeply complex, these systems provide a sense of advancement that sustains engagement beyond the initial novelty of combat. One of the more unique features is the inclusion of room customization. Items collected during missions can be used to decorate and personalize a private space. Though this mechanic does not directly influence combat performance, it provides a small creative outlet and adds personality to the game. It serves as a quiet contrast to the relentless action of street battles, offering players a momentary pause between missions. Visually, Cold Shell adopts a retro-inspired pixel aesthetic infused with cyberpunk influences. Neon lighting, dystopian cityscapes, and gritty textures create a moody urban backdrop for the violence. Sprite animations are clear and readable, ensuring that chaotic fights remain visually comprehensible. While the graphics are not highly detailed by contemporary standards, they are cohesive and stylistically consistent, reinforcing the game’s identity. The audio design complements the visual tone with electronic and synth-driven tracks that underscore the fast-paced combat. Sound effects emphasize the impact of strikes and environmental destruction, adding weight to melee encounters. The soundtrack maintains momentum without overwhelming the action, contributing to the overall intensity of each mission. Despite its strengths, Cold Shell remains a relatively focused experience. Narrative depth is limited, and the story serves mainly as connective tissue between levels. The difficulty curve can occasionally spike, particularly during boss encounters, which may feel disproportionately challenging compared to earlier stages. Additionally, while progression systems add variety, they do not dramatically transform gameplay, meaning long-term replay value depends largely on enjoyment of the core combat loop. Ultimately, Cold Shell succeeds as an engaging arcade-style brawler with a distinct cyberpunk flavor. Its combination of responsive melee combat, environmental interaction, and light progression mechanics creates a satisfying and energetic gameplay cycle. While it does not aim for expansive world-building or deep RPG complexity, it delivers a focused and entertaining action experience. For players who appreciate tight, top-down brawling and dystopian aesthetics, Cold Shell offers a compact yet compelling dive into a violent, neon-drenched future. Rating: 7/10
