Coaster of Carnage VR is a short (about 8 minutes) horror genre rollercoaster experience. Guts and gore, clowns and cadavers, blood and bones, spiders and a cohort of Satans rejects! Great for scaring friends and family! Not intended for the faint of heart.
Played On: HTC Vive
Revised: 12/20/17 Coaster of Carnage is the first horror-themed rollercoaster VR title so far. I don't want to elaborate on the experience too much, since doing so will give away all of the reasons to experience the game, but I will say that the pricetag is fair for the content; moreso if you grab it on sale. At this point in time, it does need a lot of work, but it's not necessarily a bad title. Hopefully the developer will listen to feedback, especially since the game is still in Early Access and is scheduled for release around Halloween of 2018. Continue reading only if you're the developer, or if you don't mind some of the gameplay being spoiled. As of the latest update, the rollercoaster doesn't seem to be as slow as it were originally, which was one of the painpoints of the game. There are a few more scares added, and those that have arachnophobia (like me) may find themselves actually sweating a little bit for a couple of minutes. Something that still needs to be fixed is the actual coaster seat. I was unable to sit down while playing this, since the seat was far too high above me and blocked my view; I actually felt like just a torso on a coaster seat. This is something that needs to be dealt with soon, as a lot of people require seated positions for rollercoaster VR titles. With the latest update comes some additional scares, and fixes to ones that previously existed but were bugged. The snow on the ground for December is also a nice touch. That being said,
the falling body, chainsaw guy, cultists, and creepy girl with her whispering
are simply not enough. The developer has actually added me on Steam at this time, and we're in talk about what can be added to make this horror coaster more spooktacular. It would also be a good idea to add more intense ambiance to set the mood via music. For now, I'm going to give Coaster of Carnage a recommendation, it takes on a unique concept in the world of VR and deserves some support, especially since the price is so low. I will definitely be keeping my eye on this title, and update the review accordingly. The developer is really involved in his project, so make sure to give some feedback on what you'd like to see in future updates in the forums. Keep up the good work, dev, I'm eager to see what new horrors await.
Reviewed using HTC Vive Pro
🎢 Low Quality 👎 not much Coaster Sickness 🤢🤮🤢🤮 Horror Night time ride approx 7 min long 🌛 Put your screamer friends in it 🤣 https://youtu.be/GHcy3XDhln8
This game is absolute garbage. I see now why it has such a bad rating. I thought it couldnt be so bad. But the track IS SO SLOW. On top of that its just not a good track even, theres nothing to look at and its just real hot garbage. I only bought it for the cheev and at least that works!
half of the time i spent in this "game" was painfully wasted climbing the coaster. Once it reached the top it began a slow decent. I spent around 70 cents on this game when it was on sale, and if it wasnt for the price I would be upset. Edit v0.964 The coaster moves a little bit faster now but is still painfully slow if youve ever been on an actual roller coaster.
This Early Access ride imho is well worth the cheap price the dev is asking for it. The ride is as long as any real life roller coaster. The developer is open to ideas and is adding new content. This has alot of potential to be a real hair raising ride once it is polished some more and some of the new ideas are incorporated. At the moment the ride has its slow points and needs some ironing out, the atmosphere is creepy and has some evil things going on (don't want to give away anything). No where in the description does it claim to be scary, so the reviews that talk about that dont make sence, " Guts and gore, clowns and cadavers, blood and bones, and a cohort of Satans rejects!" but if you have any phobias...that could be a different story. I can see the direction this ride is headed and I personaly like it, has a Rob Zombie feel to it. Grab this EA title while it is still cheap because if it ends up how the developer is envisioning it, it will be more than the current low price.
for $.59 Cent Note: I Purchased while on sale I won't Complain... Pros: - It Works The Ride is Smooth Slow but Smooth - It did have Scary Moments ''Not Many'' - Cheap Price! Cons: - Not that Long. - Not that Scary! I Was expecting Much Better...But, for the Cost I Feel it is worth it! Thanks!
Some really interesting ideas, but it was a flop for me. Dont get me wrong the darkness girl was really cool. The flashlight is a sweet idea! The coaster is SLOW, even going back down. This is the first VR game where I ever got motion sickness, and it was when the cars were climbing the first major rise. Took FOREVER, SUPER SLOW MOVING, and no real visual queus to lock you in. Turned my stomach. When on teh ground your totally exposed and I kept expecting some kind of monster rush or jump scare..... Frankly, I would skip this one.
A disappointment at any price even accepting in early access mode, and obviously in need of much development. Tried on Windows Mixed Reality (Dell) and worked fine. However, the climb to the top of the coaster was far too slow, to the point of being boring, and gave plenty of time to see that the track with its unrealistic kinks is of poor (programming) quality. The coaster car seated postion is set far too low, on Steam a temporary workaround is to reseat the seated position with your headset located near the ground. The overall ride is slow, with little to see. Overall impression is a half finished experience, slow paced, with very little to see but darkness. Much work is needed, and suggest far more exhibits, surprises, and features such as tunnels, scary buildings to go through etc.
Early access, not much here to talk about. Glad i picked it up on sale. Let me know when its complete and speed this ride up, I almost fell asleep on it.
